Astro Gold for Mac?

Post by CryptoVatic »

Astro Gold seems to be a good alternative for Mac users as it’s made by the same developers of Solar Fire.

I was looking through the demo and it has calculation settings for “Mean Quotidian” as well as “Fagan-Allen” and “Campanus.”

Is there anything important I’m missing for accurate calculations?

Thanks

Adding images increases storage costs on the web server, and I'm already over the top - I pay out of pocket for excess storage fees, so I ask that people not attach pictures directly.

I can come back and delete the attachments later.

Thank you.
Sorry about that Jim; I was unaware of the picture posting rule.

I tried to delete my post, but was unable to.

Progressions: Solar Arc in RA.
Whatever for the rest. See if you can use any of it to draw ascii-style art if you're gonna have a lot of extraneous stuff junking up your charts anyway.

My charts won't have a specified location, so I guess I'll just ignore the angles in my analysis?

With that taken into consideration is it worth it to buy Windows and Parallels just to run Solar Fire; or is Astro Gold sufficient?

Also is Transits to Radix good for Dynamic Type setting?

Other options are Sec Prog to Radix and Sol Arc Dirns to Radix

From Points, Aspects, and To Points are also adjustable

Too weird for me.

No idea. Don't know what you're doing or what you might need to do it.
I know when I tried Astro Gold on my Android tablet it did odd things (sorry a couple years ago, can't remember what) and then they wanted people to pay the same for updates as for the program. I bowed out and have never tried the Mac version. Don't know anybody else with the Mac version. Tried the Facebook group? Be sure to specify you're not asking about Indian astrology when you ask questions or you'll get a lot of weird stuff thrown at you.

No idea. But you can change the setting if it's unhelpful.

If you need any of this stuff, you can change the settings. Yes, 2nd progs to natals are useful if you are predicting if you get a toothache or something. I remember switching settings to get different charts in the android version.

I'd adjust the aspects down to 1 - 2 degrees, drop all the minor aspects and dump any points you aren't using. There's no need for Chiron or Lilith or the rest of that stuff unless you're specifically studying them. You can add things back later.

Tried the demo?

I'm messing around with the demo, but it's limed to the 1930s.

I want to chart Cryptocurrencies; hence no particular location. Without a location I would just skip the Mundo of what planets are angular right?

I want to look at shorter-term techniques like Sidereal cardinal lunar ingress. I'm trying to figure out how I would chart these short term indicators with Astro Gold.

In Mundo literally means "in the world." Fagan used it instead of "in the mundane chart." The chart is anchored to the world by the angles. There is no mundane chart (no in mundo ) without angles. You need a place to hang your chart on.
There's also the fact that time is a function of place.

Start a new person or whatever they call it. Your new person was born when the Moon was exactly 0°00'00" of Capricorn, Cancer, Libra or Aries. You can have four new people if you want to, although if Astro Gold does Demi-lunars, you can get away with two. Then you just keep doing lunars. You'll probably want to check now and again, because I don't know how accurate Astro Gold is with the SVP.

Thanks JSD but after comparing the Astro Gold demo to what I've seen posted about Solar Fire; Astro Gold pales in comparison. I guess I'll just have to get Windows and run Solar Fire on Bootcamp.

Or get a cheap Windows machine and run it on that. Check the cost of the software vs the cost of some hardware before you buy. There are some amazing deals on Windows machines to be had.

And yes, I'd expect Astro Gold to pale beside Solar Fire. Have you checked the price tag on each of them?
Solar Fire isn't perfect either. It was written, like every program, for tropical astrology, not for us. It is the best of the lot through and worth getting if you're serious.
