Solar Return Travel Consultation Suggestions

Post by Lunar9 » Sat Jun 08, 2019 11:19 am

Hi,

This is my first post on the forum. Basically what can go wrong went wrong in the last year. I'm looking for suggestions for an astrologer that can help with a consultation for ssr travel to help change my luck.

Much appreciation.

Thanks. And do you still live in Singapore?

Also, it;s unusual to have a birth time stated to seconds. Is this how it was actually recorded on your birth certificate, or have you changed it somehow? (For example, was it really stated as "between 2:30 and 2:45 and you've reasonably split the diffence?)

Your last Solar Return (June 27, 2018) wasn't horrible - it was mixed - but it did leave room for some problems. Mars was closely rising (1°45' below Asc) and stationary, making it extremely strong. At the same time, Jupiter was 0°18' off MC, which, by itself is quite positive; and Venus was also angular, closely square Jupiter. Overall, there is some strong good and some strong bad, with Mars perhaps having a stronger voice and it making a Mars-Jupiter aspect that (for example) would put financial matters at risk.

Additionally, the Solar Return had an exact Sun-Saturn conjunction (exact to the minute of arc!). It is in a very weak place, but an unavoidable aspect - it wouldn't have mattered where in the world you were located. (Some areas would have made it worse, but none could have made it better.) This also means that transiting Saturn was opposite your Sun on-and-off during the year, which gives many kinds of hardship (though usually hardships that strengthen us: we become able to handle more, and smaller problems are easier to tolerate because we've had to confront larger ones). In particular, this would have been acute about a month either side of January 29, when progressed Moon exactly touched that 0°00' Sun-Saturn aspect.

That's the old one. Let's look forward to the new one.

As you get the chance, let us know how widely you can travel for your birthday. I'll start by assuming you'd stay reasonably close.

First of all, your next Solar Return has the benefit of being much milder. There's not a lot happening, though the one thing happening big is Uranus: Moon is 2°37' from conjunct Uranus so it will be a year that offers change, new situations to which you can orient yourself. Potential for excitement, new topics to catch your attention, fascinating things to learn. (Moon also opposes natal Uranus half a degree, which is even stronger!)

This is true regardless of where in the world you go. Some areas could make it stronger but none could make it weaker. It will become even stronger about 2 1/2 months after your birthday (a month before that and a month after that: 1.5 to 3.5 months after your birthday). I keep thinking travel will be involved with that, but it could be other kinds of changes.

Your Jupiter is reasonably strong. Your Saturn is barely angular, but also catches a Moon square (wherever in the world you are).

There aren't a lot of distinctive markers in your part of the world for picking a custom location. We might best go with placing your natal Jupiter on Ascendant. We don't have an easy way to do this, other than trial and error. Since it is below Asc in Singapore, by about 5-6°, we should estimate by moving 5-6° of longitude east of you. On a first guess, I pick Saigon, and get an almost exact hit! I'd suggest Saigon or somewhere very close for maximum advantage.

The good news is that the passing away of the old Solar Return will take much of this painful energy with it. Things should get better by themselves. Of course, we can do better than "let the bad pass" by also picking something positive, such as the suggestion for Saigon.

Looking around the world, there are many places with Jupiter and Venus on angles. Transiting Jupiter will usually bring Neptune with it this year, which isn't horrible but is somewhat compromised (it's impractical). If you settle on a particular place, we can check the fine points but, just listing a few places:

Jupiter lines pass through/near Beijing, Shaighai and Sydney (with Venus closer for Brisbane and Melbourne); a line from Saudi Arabia (closely to Riyadh) down to Madagascar; Tokyo (with Venus nearby, especially for northern Japan).

Jupiter and Venus move together through most of central Brazil and through Argentina (Jupiter close for Buenos Aires and also Rio).

Are any of these places you've wanted to go and have the means to visit? If so, let us know your choices and we can zero in a bit more and check for less-obvious chart factors that might affect your decision.

I've looked at all the places you've mentioned except the middle east, Africa and South America. I've never been to those continents. Will be a rush getting visas etc. Also considered Sapporo, Hong Kong, US, Hawaii. Trying to find a suitable spot to put JU in the 9th, 10th and 11th.

Houses don't matter for this. That's wrong thinking. To emphasize planets, they need to be exactly on angles, preferably to the degree, at least to within 3°.

It takes a lot of work for the next step - the fine tuning - so I'll wait until you've narrowed your list. Let us know the exact place or two or three that you might pick and we can check it more carefully if you like.

I've looked at so many places, not sure which location will give the best results. Refining down to 3, I would say Hong Kong (because its close to JU Asc), Brisbane, Hawaii.

Saigon is really close to SA. Would that be tough?

There are no Saturn angularities in Saigon. Transiting Saturn is extremely weak there, and your Saturn is quite a ways off the IC.

Hong Kong is nowhere near a Jupiter line. It's quite too wide.

I'll look at more of these tomorrow (I have to get out the door for today). Others may, of course, jump in.

To review what I wrote yesterday: I wonder how you are looking at these (perhaps an online astro-mapping service?), but you have mentioned above several angularities that are incorrect.

There are no Saturn angularities in Saigon. Transiting Saturn is extremely weak there (near the 9th cusp, meaning exactly cadent, minimum strength), and your natal Saturn is roughly in the middle of the 3rd house, making it about 15° from the angle (just over 10° ecliptically). No Saturn for Saigon.

I was wrong about Hong Kong and Jupiter, though. Although transiting Jupiter is too far from the angles, natal Jupiter is less than 1° from square the Hong Kong MC. It's not bad. But since natal Mars is comparably strong (about 3° from IC, a more important angle), your natal Mars-Jupiter square is highlighted and there is nothing else strong in the chart to offset or redirect it. This could make for a rollicking good time and some positive things but also a tendency to spend or lose money faster than usual. Based on your report of your last year, I'm thinking this could be a problem for you right now. So, in summary, it's easily a place to have a good time (and bring some of that good energy home with you) and also likely to set you up for losing money (primarily through spending it at an aggressive pace).

That leaves Brisbane and Hawaii.

Brisbane has Venus 2°17' below Asc, Jupiter 3°22' below Dsc, Neptune 1°43' from square Asc, with Jupiter-Neptune the closest aspect. This seems quite a happy place. With Solar Return Moon exactly opposite your Uranus and 2° from conjunct transiting Uranus, there are new, stimulating, intriguing discoveries to be made. No matter where you are in the world, SSR Moon also squares natal Saturn which drags you down a bit and makes security needs a priority - no avoiding that, but I think matching it with strong, positive Venus-Jupiter vibes is the best remedy. The rising Venus in Brisbane is close enough to your natal Moon rising that there may even be new romance in the air.

Hawaii is large enough (spread out) that exact angularities vary significantly from one island to another. Your SSR itself has nothing angular there but, taking Honolulu as a sample location, your natal Jupiter is 2° off MC and your Mars exactly rising. This is much like Hong Kong, with the same good and bad balance - remembering that mars is stronger.

Yes, I've been looking at astro.com mapping services. Do you look at permanent lines of an area? I'll be reading up on the mapping techniques on the forum when I'm back from the travel. This is fascinating. Seems like Saigon and Brisbane is the right choice in that order. There was 1 more spot I missed out. Atlanta GA or somewhere in the US because I could visit friends in the US.

Atlanta isn't a good spot - it puts natal Saturn exactly on MC (squared exactly by Moon). There are other difficult things including an angular Mercury-Mars conjunction that is likely to be quarrelsome, communication conflicts, etc. In this wider mix, Moon-Uranus is likely to be "unpredictable circumstances." (And further east in the U.S. puts your natal Saturn from your natal chart on MC.)

Also avoid a line that runs due north-south from mid-Texas through mid-North Dakota (right up the middle of the Plains states) - transiting Saturn on IC - and New Orleans and anything due north of there (Mars on MC).

There isn't any place in the continental U.S. that is particularly good and there are a lot that are outright bad. If you're intent on the U.S., your best shot is Sun on MC (which also highlights your natal Venus). This line runs from Arizona to Montana, along a line somewhat west of Phoenix (I'm guessing it's the longitude of Jerome), along the west edge of Salt Lake (the lake, not the city; but they're close), and on north. Sun square Ascendant also passes more or less directly through Phoenix and Salt Lake City, so these are on a bright, solar line with your Venus close.

To summarize, the locations I picked will have these results. Please let me know if its incorrect. Saigon, Brisbane and Phoenix seem like good choices in that order? It doesn't need to be the US, just thought that its a big continent and there should be good spots. My intention is really to go somewhere to receive maximum benefits of the SSR energies. Last year saw relationship and financial issues.

Hong Kong and Hawaii are out because of financial losses and increased spending
Saigon places Natal JU on asc therefore its good fortune all around
Brisbane will bring new discoveries and romance
For US choices, I’ve never been to AZ. West of phoenix seems remote. Phoenix itself has a SU line which highlights VE, that will put career, romance and good relations on the forefront? This also puts Chiron on the dsc, does this have any effect on SSR?

I would have to reread the entire thread or duplicate the work to confirm the summary. If it's what I said above, then it's what I'd say yes to now :)

No comment on Chiron. (It seems significant but so minor I don't think anything is missed by neglecting it.)

There's a MA local space in the natal chart close to Brisbane. Does that matter?

What does "MA local space in the natal chart" mean?

Most likely the answer is: Whatever is operative in the natal chart has its own importance, but not importance for the question concerning the solar return.

Local space charts aren't the same as the maps Jim is using here. You're mixing apples and bicycles.

Isn't there local space lines on Solar Fires for natal and SR? The lines that sprouts from birthplace?

Yes, those are local space maps. They're based on azimuth. In Solar Fire, you want the Astro Maps which look like this: https://solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=2880#p21508.
