Myanmar coup d'etat

Post by Jim Eshelman » Sun Mar 07, 2021 2:22 pm

Feb 1, 2021, "early morning," Naypyidaw, Myanmar (19N45, 96E07)

I never took a close look at the Myanmar (formerly Burma) coup last month. The time is most often stated as "early morning," is when State Counsellor (head of state) Aung San Suu Kyi "and other members of the ruling party" were detained by the military. The military chief then declared a state of emergency and began closing the borders and limiting electronics internal communications, among other steps.

However, the communications lockdown including "widespread Internet disruptions" are said to have started around 3:00 AM. I'll estimate 1:00 AM for the seizure.
