USA Mundane Forecast
for the four weeks beginning SEPTEMBER 16, 2021

If you are unfamiliar with the methods and interpretations of Sidereal mundane astrology, please see my free book Sidereal Mundane Astrology. (A link can be found near the top of the Publications sub-forum.) For standard interpretations, see Chapter 8 of the current (17th) Edition.

LONG-TERM (Solar Ingresses)
Capsolar effective Jan 14, 2021 to Jan 14, 2022. (Summarized from my original interpretation in the Jan 13-Feb 9 forecast.)
  • More severe than 2020, but a year of action instead of paralysis.
  • Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn continues to define conditions, emphasizing autonomous survival and solitary self-sufficiency.
  • MARS square SATURN (0°34', exactly angular). Harsh, hateful, hurtful, destructive hardship, e.g., deadly violence, fires, explosions, financial crises. Fosters hate + conflict arising from feeling powerless, shamed, diminished: Primitives competing for basic survival amidst widespread hardship.
  • JUPITER square URANUS (0°42'). Recovery and salvation through scientific advances and social revolution. Collective optimism anticipating good change. Broadly, boldly liberal government or political activism: Ideological rebellion, remapping the larger social contract, liberal social agendas (demanding wider horizons, expanded and diversified opportunity, civil liberties). Invention, futurism, new tech (or tech vision), and “good science” engage imagination. (Uncommon for disasters except floods.)
  • Activity and activism, rarely gentle or well-behaved.
  • Mars-Uranus. Explosive: physical or psychological "bombshells," surprise attack, sudden action, "lightning war" (blitzkrieg). Moon-Uranus. Swiftly changing circumstances requiring rapid adaptation and response. Moon-Mars. A broad sense of emergency: Violence, fire, disaster, damage, assassination (or other severe crisis for leaders).
  • Economic difficulties: Economic crisis and threatened markets (Jupiter to Mars-Saturn). Shifting conditions in banking and economic management (Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter in Capricorn). The upside: We surely need to consume significant resources for economic recovery.
  • Structural investment. Rebuilding economic foundations and physical infrastructure.
  • Spinning up the wheels of industry, economic expansion: Greater industry and productivity (from the same aspects).
  • Mars-Jupiter is stormy (including destructive weather). Forward momentum, expansive, with an enterprising spirit useful to recovery. Post-pandemic era of opportunity for new entrepreneurs, renewed entrepreneurial spirit, readily available capital investment.
Arisolar (Apr 14)
Effective Apr 14 to Oct 18. (Summarized from my original interpretation in the Apr 5-May 2 forecast.)
  • Jupiter on Dsc (0°38'), sq. Moon (1°37'). The best six months of the year. Increased prosperity overall: Return to work, a stabilizing economy, increased optimism and sense of well-being. Communities feel stronger, more secure. More good news than bad across the six months.
  • Saturn on WP (1°17). Survival challenges continue concurrent with emerging good news. Seriously rough times overlap the sense that things are improving. "Getting better" is gradual.
  • Saturn-Uranus square. Independence vs. restriction and liberal vs. conservative polarization. Long in restrictive lockdown conditions, people want to get out, to get back to their prior lives despite (or defying) the risks. Freedom vs. safety, the "old way" and "new way." Political opposition and gridlock threaten when we can least afford them.

MEDIUM-TERM (The Bridge)

ALL MONTH: Pluto Uranus. Transiting Pluto squares Cansolar Moon. Transiting Uranus squares Capsolar Ascendant. Big changes are in motion. If we have substantially contained the pandemic, these are the weeks when a "new normal" is forged in action by people returning to jobs, schools, and open connection under new social, economic, and practical circumstances. At best, a sense of freedom and discovery prevails: The masses feel as if unleashed from prison. New conditions are unbound by precedent or prior custom or convention. Revolution may be in the wind as we survey how much of the past has been dismantled already and make way for a new, remapped future.

TWICE THIS MONTH (at the beginning and end), Mars joins Uranus-Pluto. Transiting Mars opposes Cansolar MC Sep 16-21 and squares Cansolar Ascendant beginning Oct 12 (continuing into the next month). Simply put, there will be more violence and more fires as well as other hurtful events (perhaps including natural disasters), creating a sense of alarm. Police (or possibly military) engagements increase. Accidents and other injuries hold the headlines. Mass behavior reflects the convergence of heightened mass needs for freedom and renewal, self-authenticity, and power (expressed through aggression, attempts at domination and control, opposition, independence, and defense).

Summaries of longer-term trends from outer planet sign transits are here.

SHORT-TERM (Lunar Ingresses)

Caplunar (Sep 16)
Effective Sep 16 to Oct 13, especially the first week, Sep 16-22. Mercury (IC 2°20') and Saturn (Dsc 3°13') are most angular. Moon conjoins Pluto (0°38'). Saturn squares Venus (1°09') in the foreground.

Clearly a difficult, frustrating chart, this Caplunar also shows loss and deep sadness despite what likely have been broadly improving conditions. Frustration may be its best word, as business opens up too slowly, communication is tripped up, transportation and deliveries are delayed, and logistics hit logjams. News focus is on the news media itself, including difficult stories that take over the airwaves more than usual. Whether current events or summary retrospectives, losses are grieved, regrets are weighed, and fun is spoiled.

Exact Moon-Pluto angularity up Florida's west coast into its panhandle reminds us that this is still hurricane season. Saturn setting exactly through New York City (plus more Moon-Pluto lines) suggests a bad stock market tumble. (It is October, after all.)

Arilunar (Sep 22)
Effective Sep 22 to Oct 7. Neptune squares Ascendant (1°17') with Jupiter more widely foreground. Besides Moon's predictable square to Pluto (0°41'), in Washington she squares Saturn (0°40' mundo). Moon also squares Mercury (0°26') highlighting a worldwide Mercury-Pluto square that, however, is background for the U.S.

It's hard to reconcile this chart with portents of a time with positive momentum building. The simplest idea is the threat of a temporary bear market. However, concurrent Moon aspects to Saturn-Pluto were typical of the weeks of greatest death and loss a year before: We can't ignore this as October looms. The media is heavily engaged. The two most likely Moon-Mercury themes are flight and something involving voluminous paperwork or other vast numbers of individual data points. Those possibilities would be examples of getting off easy: Moon-Saturn-Pluto with angular Neptune can paint significantly more gruesome outcomes.

California's wine regions plus Sacramento sit under a Pluto line during harvest time.

Canlunar (Sep 30)
The Canlunar is dormant.

Liblunar (Oct 7)
Oct 7-13. Uranus squares Ascendant (0°14'): "Bursting out" and a need for freedom and renewal are the biggest themes. Saturn squares Midheaven (1°55') indicating restriction, narrowing, and loss. It seems we're back to freedom vs. safety or breaking loose vs. containment of earlier in the year.

Most definitely, things are changing. The chart is complicated: A lot of competing things are happening simultaneously that confuse the story. Moon squares both Saturn and Pluto once more, but the Saturn aspect is much wider. Angular Uranus plus Moon-Pluto are the strongest indicators - just like the Bridge - so "things are changing sharply and quickly" is the main feeling. Moon/Uranus and Jupiter/Saturn on the angles suggests economic challenges: The cost of everything is hitting home. Jupiter square Uranus may spring a novel solution at the last minute, but Jupiter/Saturn and Jupiter-Uranus more likely signal structural weakening.

The Texas gulf has Sun-Mars-Pluto angular, suggesting something overwhelming and ferocious with high impact. Moon-Saturn intersect not far from Nashville suggesting the saddest news of the week to come from within a hundred fifty miles or so of that spot. Fires blaze across the West, but not necessarily the coastal west. Saturn squares MC in NYC, so this may be the week that the market chokes a bit.

The Biden Report

Post by Jim Eshelman »

SIDEREAL LUNAR RETURN (Sep 23)
Effective Sep 22 to Oct 20. Natal Saturn is 0°20' from Descendant: President Biden will be hard on himself during this "no fun" month. This placement mobilizes self-preservation and material or management instincts: The most typical effects are that our doubts and concerns come to the fore. We drive ourselves harder and expect much more from ourselves.

This occurs alongside three kinds of Neptune influence: Biden is confronted with something unclear and uncertain and feels he can't get the right facts. Transiting Neptune is foreground and exactly conjunct his natal IC; the transiting Sun/Neptune midpoint is 0°22' from the SLR meridian; and transiting Sun, in the upper foreground, conjoins natal Neptune. Saturn with this much Neptune entertains morbid states of mind, a sense of insufficiency, and dread; or (when it is natal Saturn), can show frustrating struggles to get a concrete handle on vague, uncertain, amorphous things.

Transiting Sun and natal Uranus foreground suggest more of the latter: He "shows up for work" and is willing to entertain exotic solutions. Fantasy and uncertainty wrestle with reality and confirmable fact.

SIDEREAL DEMI-LUNAR RETURN (Oct 7)
Effective Oct 6-20. Transiting Pluto opposes natal Jupiter within 0°01' mundo. Pluto is on Eastpoint (0°22') and his Jupiter squares Midheaven (2°). Pluto aspecting natal Jupiter redefines (or brings major shifts in) one's status, finances, reputation and prestige, and career or life-direction. Usually these are positive: The aspect accompanied him into the White House and has marked his presidency. Normally it lifts the unlikely person to great heights, though sometimes it can knock the uplifted off the same pedestal. Negative expressions can center on legal matters or alienate others through an unreasonable sense of superiority.

Most likely this aspect will continue to be positive for him: Collateral aspects include Jupiter's transit to natal Mercury (0°07'), which means his words and ideas will be valued and praised, and the pleasant Venus conjunct natal Venus (0°38'). There is, however, a clear element of combat: An exact Sun-Mars conjunction (0°08') outside the foreground shows identity (of both Biden and his opponents) attached to power and combat with increased aggression, railing on obstacles and limits. If we were to rely on houses we might suspect that this battle involves the courts.
