USA Mundane Forecast
for the four weeks beginning JUNE 16, 2022

If you are unfamiliar with the methods and interpretations of Sidereal mundane astrology, please see my free book Sidereal Mundane Astrology. (A link can be found near the top of the Publications sub-forum.) For standard interpretations, see Chapter 8 of the current (17th) Edition.

USA Mundane Forecast §§§ The Biden Report §§§ Other Locations §§§ Ingress Summaries §§§ Transits to Capsolar Planets §§§ Outer Planet Sign Transits

LONG-TERM (Solar Ingresses)
Capsolar effective Jan 15, 2022 to Jan 15, 2023. (Summarized from my Jan 15-30 forecast.)
  • An accounting cycle for the Biden administration. Republican gains seem certain in the midterm elections.
  • Sun conjunct Pluto (1°21'): Unprecedented conditions, irrevocable shifts, rebellion against conditions, assault or removal of those in power, and disrespect for law (greater lawlessness). People demand freedom from control or leadership they feel is failing them. Solar figures are challenged and held accountable. More people think of themselves as "a law unto oneself" or exception to the rules. Many possibilities, from natural disasters to political confrontation.
  • Since May 22, Sun-Pluto has progressed to within 1°00'. This progression lasts until January. We are in the part of 2022 when the above Sun-Pluto phenomena come into their own.
  • Moon-Mars-Neptune: Crime is up. Neighborhoods feel more dangerous. Ferocious civil unrest. What was once called "civilization" rips open with unaddressed grievance while struggling to settle into new patterns in which people feel safer and more secure.
  • Sun-Pluto with Moon-Mars-Neptune: Increased physical threat to the president or the Federal government as a whole (perhaps through heightened domestic terrorism).
  • Moon opposite Mars (affecting the world as a whole): A state of alarm. Typical expressions: violence, blood, fire, earthquakes, accidents, other destruction; often significant loss of life. Other expressions: war, bombings and explosions, other attacks, deaths of leaders. Moon square Neptune (local to Washington): Waves of emotional reaction, fervor, herd-mind arousal, or panic accompanied by confusion, disorientation, uncertainty, and an undermined sense of security. Mars-Neptune: Panic or feeling the ground fall from under one’s feet - surging adrenaline with heightened aroused emotion - increasing the risk of treachery, sabotage, other betrayal, poisoned relationships, and scandal.
  • Sun/Mercury = IC: Broadly intensifies and highlights Mercury themes, including transportation, commerce, and science. Mercury square Uranus: Scientific and technological advances continue (no turning from technology). Freedom and flexibility in communication and travel are big break-out themes, including significant expansion and redesign in social media's impact. Science continues to have direct, relevant influence on people's changing lives.
  • Mercury-Uranus impacts social trends: With growing urgency of antisocial independence and autonomous self-sufficiency, with people feeling exempt from precedents and historic social standards, "independent thinking" becomes a rallying cry (though probably more of a fantasy than a reality: herd-mind passions surge the cry for "independent" opinion). Passion-fed rejection of expert opinion, reliance on crowd opinion, other challenges to convention or authority. “Don’t tell me how to think” takes on new, widespread life.

MEDIUM-TERM (The Bridge)
ALL MONTH: Pluto sq. Capsolar Asc, Neptune sq. Capsolar Moon, continuing the NEPTUNE-PLUTO ZONE. Collective (massing) populist voices rise due to a sense of pervasive anxiety, of "never knowing when the other shoe will drop." Waves of heightened emotional reaction, fervor, and herd-mind arousal are accompanied by confusion, uncertainty, and an undermined sense of security. This could be a reflection of the election cycle or the passionate civil unrest forecast from the Capsolar for the year.

Almost the entire month, Mars adds a threatening sense of alarm or emergency with the usual expectations of increased fires, deadly accidents or weather events, human violence - or even war - amidst general increase in volatility and harmfulness. Here are the dates of the specific (almost uninterrupted) transits:
  • Jun 19-22: t Mars sq. Cansolar Asc
  • Jun 26-29: t Mars op. Cansolar Moon [worldwide]
  • Jun 30-Jul 3: t Mars op. Capsolar Asc
  • Jul 7-10: t Mars sq. Capsolar MC
Saturn returns to Capricorn (from Aquarius) June 20. Mars enters Aries June 27. Summaries of longer-term trends from outer planet sign transits are here.

SHORT-TERM (Lunar Ingresses)

Caplunar (Jun 16)
Effective June 16 to July 13, especially the first week, June 16-22. In a tense, aggravated month, tempers are on a hair-trigger. In the end, stuck conditions will shift (but it won't be easy).

Uranus is most angular, 1°01' from Zenith. Saturn (barely angular) closely squares Uranus (1°14' mundo). An easy call when Saturn-Uranus dominates is political partisan divide and increasingly polarized opposition to change. With Uranus so strong, this time change likely will prevail, though it will be narrow and constrained.

This chart feels as if everyone is sitting tensely waiting for the next shoe to drop. Moon squares Mars (a mere 0°35' for Washington) matching the Moon-Mars of the Capsolar. The world feels more dangerous. More harm seems to be at hand. Crime is up (and is violent). Civil unrest remains a strong possibility for a hot, hot summer.

Mars is on Midheaven at the longitude of Omaha - just east of Fargo and just west of Houston - and squares Ascendant through Arizona and Utah, curving up to near Seattle. These may be the areas (up to 150 miles or so either side) where anticipated martial events erupt. (Wastern Texas is the most volatile.) Jupiter runs due north-south of Albuquerque for more positive, rewarding events.

Arilunar (Jun 22)
Effective Jun 22-30. Pluto rises (0°25'). Saturn is on EP (1°54'). Events of high impact and senses-stunning intensity change something fundamental. Someone or something dear to us is lost.

"Tragedy" is not too strong a word for Saturn-Pluto pairings, which signify dramatic hardship, sometimes with an apocalyptic feel. Feelings of irreversible loss or separation prevail. Moon again aspects Mars and Pluto, though this week Moon-Pluto is stronger: Moon-Mars is barely in orb, as if rage is losing energy. It feels like defeat and depression. Saturn has just returned to Capricorn (after a month in Aquarius); its meanings are likely connected to these events.

Saturn squares Venus, amplifying the message of lost loved ones or other intimately personal loss. For more than this, we look at an experimental planet, one about which we are just learning: Venus is exactly conjunct the distant planet Sedna; Saturn mundanely squares both of them. In natal astrology, Venus-Sedna (in addition to granting sexy charm and a wicked sense of humor) seems to touch powerful old emotions often linked to ancient, primitive roots of femininity. If these observations of Sedna are correct (they may not be), then what Saturn takes away will touch those primal emotions.

Pluto rises through the east from the Florida gulf to Vermont. High impact events are most likely there (it includes Washington, of course), with a real chance of shake-up near southern Georgia (Uranus + Pluto). Saturn squares MC at the exact longitude of Philadelphia. Jupiter blesses the three West Coast states.

Canlunar (Jun 30)
Effective Jun 30 to July 13. Venus is the only angular planet, yet Moon squares Mars and Pluto. The keyword of these two weeks, then, is likely passion: Ultimately, Venus suggests good feelings (of the "peace, love, and understanding" sort), but this week's emotions come from underlying pain and rage.

I have already predicted a hot summer boiling over with festering grievances. It seems that this week, with the third Moon-Mars aspect in a row, the rage renews and the passion boils. Successive Moon-Mars aspects combined with slightly different Venus combinations is common for war, but this chart, with Venus on Zenith, feels like domestic rage, i.e., people raging together for justice.

Nationwide, Boston and Philadelphia have the best charts of the week. Something explosive or divisive may erupt in Kansas. The longitude of Indianapolis has Saturn exactly angular. A Mars-Pluto combination centers in western Utah and Arizona.

Liblunar (Jul 7)
The Liblunar is dormant for Washington. However, several hotspots appear across the nation, including Saturn angular along the entire Atlantic coast so precisely that it surely suggests violent storm warnings. The fiery (or even explosive) Mars-Pluto combination has moved to western Colorado near Grand Junction and, to a lesser extent, the band of longitude that includes western New Mexico.

The Biden Report

Post by Jim Eshelman »

SIDEREAL LUNAR RETURN (Jun 23)
Effective Jun 22-Jul 20. This month's full lunar return and its demi-return are quite similar, except that the angularities are wide (weaker) in the full SLR and become close and strong in the demi-lunar in two weeks. Therefore, the month carries a single message for President Biden, with the message becoming stronger after July 7.

Unfortunately, the message is sad, disheartening, and dispiriting. In both return charts, Saturn, Neptune, and Mercury are the strongest planets. Furthermore, this month's returns start a pattern of consistently negative SLRs through at least the end of 2022. This month's Saturn and Neptune are emotionally wearying and even depressive, increase dour states of mind, drain physical and psychological vitality, and exaggerate negativity. Common sense suggests that this is in response to the midterm election cycle, both in terms of anticipating losses to his party's majorities in Congress and difficulties getting important legislation passed in a more politicized year.

Transiting Neptune is 7° above Descendant. Transiting Mercury and natal Saturn are 6° past Midheaven. These are weak angularities that, by themselves, would only suggest a few frustrations. The real concern is when they intensify - come to a head - in the last half of the month. Transiting Mercury partile conjunct natal Saturn signals delays, disappointments, and plans that don't work out right: consequently, he feels bummed and grumbly. Additionally, transiting Sun squares natal Neptune within 0°27', an aspect that usually leaves us feeling vulnerable, passive, and inactive. It will take all of his strength of character to remain focused on the job at hand.

SIDEREAL DEMI-LUNAR RETURN (Jul 8)
Effective Jul 7-20. Everything said above about the full SLR applies to the demi-SLR, except that it now comes to a head. Besides the dispiriting factors intensifying, circumstances now carry a sense of emergency and threat.

Natal Neptune and Saturn are 1° from Nadir (square Ascendant) and Eastpoint (square MC), respectively. Transiting Mercury is 2° below Ascendant (though it adds little to the forecast to say his mental state comes from communication and other instreaming information).

Were I his personal astrologer, I'd advise him that his personal good and the good of the country are best served by his traveling elsewhere for the day his demi-lunar sets up. Eben New York City makes a dramatic (positive) difference in this chart. Seoul and Nairobi have lesser advantages. Buenos Aires turns despair into delight in this chart. (NYC is probably the best choice.)

As set up for Washington, though, he return has the mental, emotional, and even physical difficulties already mentioned. Other aspects (not angular, but closer than 1° create a harder edge: Transiting Mars conjoins his Moon within 0°05', signaling attacks, inflamed emotion, and a sense of rushed urgency. Transiting Saturn mundanely squares natal Sun 0°22', a signal of heavy burden, loss of pride, and needing to summon unusual inner strength to meet increased demands. Pluto's opposition to his Jupiter is not inherently bad, but in this particular SLR Pluto mundanely opposes his Jupiter 0°29' and squares his Neptune 0°35', a combination perhaps best interpreted as a crisis in faith.

Geographic areas centered on map lines have a roughly 150-200 mile leeway (3°) for strong effects. For these mappings of planetary energies, see standard interpretations in Chapter 8 of Sidereal Mundane Astrology. (A link to the free current edition can always be found near the top of the Publications sub-forum.) Readers may wish to consider all planet lines and intersections against the standard interpretations.

Transits to Capsolar Planets

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Transits to Capsolar planets are important identifiers for locales where the 'natal' planet was angular in the Capsolar, or where it spins to a CapQ angle at the time of the aspect.

(No outer planet transits)

t Mars sq. Capsolar Sun Jun 26-29
t Mars sq. Capsolar Pluto Jun 28-Jul 1

Outer Planet Sign Transits

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Pluto in Capricorn (2021-2038)
viewtopic.php?f=34&t=2475&p=33906#p33904
Harsher, struggling, dystopian: people doubt they will regain guarantees of safety or security from violence, economic crisis, or cultural breakdown. Autonomous self-sufficiency, struggle for survival. Need to preserve and restore survivability of the planet. Shortages of land, secure living space, and privacy (territorial conflicts). Hunger and dwelling insecurity. People determining anew how they want to be governed. Control vs. being controlled. Increased social isolation and focus on survival (anticipating breakdown of society or survivability of the world with depleting stability and resources). Intensified tensions between individual survival vs. connected wider community, and between uplifted and controlling classes vs. the debased and controlled classes. Breakdown of old structures and outmoded patterns. Bedrock financial institutions are challenged and reassessed. New economies emerge, including a structural reconceiving of work, jobs, employment, and earnings. Anything father-themed comes under attack (and retaliates). Ancient grievances and resentments are renewed. Society's relationship to aging and the aged will change necessarily. Revolution in pharmacology.

Neptune in Pisces (May 20 - Aug 6, 2022)
(This has not yet been written.)

Uranus in Aries (2017-2025)
viewtopic.php?f=34&t=390&p=2560#p2560
A volatile time politically. Issues of economics, government, and accelerated armament. Great challenges to the stability of existing alliances: Acute polarization splits former allies (individuals, social groups, or nations) along new axes. Widespread dissatisfaction fuels repudiation of historic closely held views and values. Each such era, while people are passing through it, feels like a transitions between a concluding old cycle and an opening new cycle.

An unyielding, unremitting sense of emergency exists, then autocratic governance increases. Extraordinary autocratic power is yielded (voluntarily granted) to national leaders, who acquire increasing dominion of economic and social issues. Armament, safety, going one's way alone without the encumbrances of alliances... these win out over the demand for personal liberty and social equality. The masses seem more comfortable with an authoritarian father figure to "make everything OK." Absent a state of war, there me be a suspension of checks and balances on autocracy normal to martial law.

Increased polarization and struggle between opposing extremes - each historic period has its own example, whether it be arising fascism vs. socialism (or political elements that, if more extreme, would have emerged as overtly fascist or socialist, extremism of right vs. left), opposing views on slavery, Catholic vs. Protestant wars, etc. Economics (especially trade) are unstable, in a precarious balance. Economics policies become more nationalistic and autistic, increasingly protective, to defend against trade inequities and competition imbalances. Extreme unrest in economically hurting populations.

Saturn in Capricorn (Jan 2020 - Jan 2023)
viewtopic.php?f=34&t=3344#p28419
Individual and political struggles for survival, autonomy, and self-sufficiency. Land & space: Shortages of land and secure space, redefining boundaries; territorial acquisitions and annexations, mineral rights, mining conflicts; walls, embargoes, spatial segregation, splitting historically separate countries into autonomous nations. Earth & water crises: Ecological concerns regarding climate change; land- and water-based retaliations by the Earth against destabilizing climate change; volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, no-warning fire outbreaks; water and land rights and conservation. Hunger, food-security, and dwelling issues including crop failures and famine; further crumbling of farming as a viable livelihood; hunger may be weaponized (or may be addressed aggressively). Earth-mindful rebellion religions thrive, including renewal and empowerment of paganism. Major finance developments: Vast financial institutional restructuring and management, especially favoring capitalism. Changes in how we collectively control money and commerce including bedrock foundations, controls, and financial restructuring; institutions aimed at money security are created or strengthened; long-standing economic hardship and social disenfranchisement boil over. Fear: Focus on how we manage and respond to it. Disabilities and misfortune draw focus: "Inferiority" (so-called) more visible; disability and genetic bigotry; widespread civil liberties conflicts and civil rights resistance activism. Relief from the arts and laughter.

Saturn in Aquarius (May 19 -June 20, 2022)
viewtopic.php?f=34&t=4568#p43719
Democratizing power, rebelling against restriction, fighting for freedom. The masses rise against tyranny. A surging anti-imperial, anti-authoritarian wave with new constitutions, pivotal elections, social unrest, marches, riots, civil wars and other wrestling for liberty (with predictable resistance and push-back). Optimistic for voting rights and historic gains in racial equity. Liberal social reforms and economics, likely including universal health care and continued Keynesian policies. Free trade breaks economic bottlenecks. Democratizing commerce as an innovative force, creating new markets. Science, invention, and technology thrive (technology stocks win). Medical science breakthroughs, especially in genetic medicine. Traditional medicine flourishes as brilliant science meets a more enlightened, practical model of delivering health care. Water rights and other pipeline issues are increasingly important. Agnosticism and atheism become stronger social forces. Pragmatic futurism in diverse forms.

When the news broke the words "something dear to us is lost" ran through my mind. And I see now where I read them.

When I first glanced at the angular planets (and their orbs) of this chart, the two phrases that went through my mind were, "high-impact, senses-stunning" (my usual Pluto starting point) and "something dear is lost" (loss is my starting point for Saturn, and the Venus-Saturn particularized it).

Something told me to just keep it simple and say exactly that two-part summary first.

Re: The Biden Report

Post by Jim Eshelman »

President Biden is presently in Saudia Arabia - I suppose in Riyadh - which puts his current SLR in a different light. For Riyadh, Jupiter is 0°06' from an angle with Mars and Sun foreground. These are marks of diplomacy, overall success, benevolence, all mingled with "rough guy" talking. It's quite an excellent chart. - His Demi-SLR for Riyadh has Sun exactly at MC and a foreground Mercury-Jupiter square, again excellent for strength and effective diplomacy.
