2019 Dhaka fire

Post by Jim Eshelman »

February 20, 2019, 10:38 PM, Dhaka (Old City), Bangladesh

NOTE: Recalculate for more exact coordinates, 23N42'59'', 90E23'39''

At least 110 people died in a Dhaka fire when a passing car carrying a canister of compressed natural gas exploded, in turn igniting other cylinders at a street-side restaurant, which set fire to a nearby plastics store, which in turn ignited an adjacent shop illegally storing chemical. Fire raced down the street engulfing a total of five buildings plus people and things on the sidewalk, killing over nine dozen people. NOTE: Wikipedia says "at least 80" deaths. Contemporary reports said at least 110.

This was only the latest of many deadly fires in Bangladesh in recent years. It occurred immediately after Mars (still widely conjunct Uranus) set at Dhaka, with Moon partile opposite Neptune. (Add Mercury with Moon-Neptune for the car!)
