Arkansas levee breach

Post by Jim Eshelman »

May 31, 2019, 12:45 AM, southeast of Dardanelle, AR
See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Arka ... ver_floods

With the enormous rains that have been pelting mid-country through May 2019, both along and feeding the Mississippi River and Arkansas River, a levee breached near Dardanelle, Arkansas (a 40-foot hole), dumping water that flooded already-saturated farmland (due to levee leeks a day earlier). - I'll use 8 AM as a 'working' interpretation of "early Friday," and Dardanelle as the impacted location.

NOTE (6/12/19): I finally found a correct time, 12:45 AM, from KATV in Little Rock. (The below was done for 8 AM.)

Many farms are threatened and about 350 homes were placed at risk, and pictures show vast flooding. I don't know the economic damages, but there seem to have been no casualties.
