4th of July Parade shooting in Illinois

In Highland Park, IL, a suburb north of Chicago, six people were killed and 24 injured when a shooter fired from a rooftop at a July 4 parade. Instant panic occurred as hundreds of people attending the parade fled the area.

Thus far, he hasn't been caught (a rifle was recovered) and people have been advised to stay inside as SWAT teams go door to door. Independence Day events have been cancelled in surrounding towns.

LA Times (same owner as the Chicago Sun-Times) wrote that the parade began about 10 AM, with gunfire starting 10 minutes later. This is broadly consistent with CNN's report of "two consecutive spurts of gunfire" about 10:20 AM Central Time. I'm more inclined to trust NBC News' report that gunfire began at about 10:14 AM. This means the shooting began as Moon rose.
