Ancient observatory - Venus the god of war

Post by Arena »

Chichen Itza has an observatory (aligned to Venus) similar to modern ones;

Am having one of these long wakey nights watching stuff about The Chariot of the Gods.

That first article said the Maya knew Venus was both the morning star and the evening star, which the ancient Greeks didn't know (until Pythagoras or someone from about the same time figured it out) which I had forgotten. Yet another reason I don't see the "ancient Greeks" as the base civilization for the concept of astrology or astronomy.
