Kuala Lumpur school fire

Post by Jim Eshelman »

September 14, 2017, 5:40 AM [later: 5:10], Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

23 deaths (21 of them tapped children, ages 13-17) have resulted from a fire at the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah Tahfiz madrassa (school) in Kuala Lumpur. By the time first responders hit the scene, over 90% of the building was gone. Windows were fitted with bars to keep students in, and these blocked escape from the fire.

Closed-circuit cameras noted seven people (later identified as carrying gasoline) entering the area at 3:10 AM. They were ages 11 to 18.

The charts are quite excellent - more or less perfect.

As shown in the Cansolar quotidian, with p.Mercury on the angles, this event was pretty much the highlight of the news that day, and even the day after and today. It appears that the school was not registered with the Education Ministry (as are many other small religious schools), and didn't fit the necessary safety regulations required by the Fire Department.

May all those children and teachers whom had tragically lost their lives rest in peace. The accounts of this event as I've read online were terrible to read, and even horrifying to visualise as a Neptunian.

This Arilunar also resulted with massive flash floods in the Malaysian state of Penang. 270mm of rain was poured in four hours, which is about a month's rainfall. Note that the Arilunar of Georgetown, Penang (Penang's capital) had similar "rain" configurations like Jupiter on the MC/sq. the Asc and Moon on the IC (partile).

Thanks, Scales. I thought of you while I was writing this - yes, I read the accounts of why they couldn't get out, what the neighbors heard, and what the firemen found afterwards. It was ugly for anyone who read it, but must have been especially ugly to have this happen so close to you, and involving your peers.

Yes, very much—at first I thought this happened at a rural state like Kelantan or Terengganu, but no, this happened in Kuala Lumpur, not even an hour away. :(

It's now concluded that the fire was caused by marijuana-drugged teens, the case now being one of "murder and mischief by fire." Sad. :(
