I just finished installing Solar Fire and I followed Jim's instructions in Chapter 3 SETTING UP SOLAR FIRE.
In a previous thread Jim commented on my natal chart viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1903 and he listed:
MOON SEMISQUARE SATURN Orb 0°20' Separating
MOON SEXTILE VENUS Orb 1°36' Separating
SUN SEXTILE URANUS Orb 1°54' Applying
I did my own natal chart to compare my work; however under Aspect List Report I only see Mercury conjunction Pluto.
Is there something I'm missing? Thanks

Re: Solar Fire Aspect List help
On the Main Page, in the Current Settings box, in the Aspect Set line, have you selected your aspect set?

Also double-check your aspect file itself and be sure that the natal orbs are defined for each aspect. It must be done individually.

Re: Solar Fire Aspect List help
Crypt, I think Jim is using Class 1 aspects. Do you have your aspect file for natal,s set to the following orbs? Could be your problem. Solarfire has a somewhat difficult learning curve but believe me it is worth it.
Class 1
Conjunctions, oppositions: 0°00'-4°00'
Trines, sextiles, squares: 0°00'-3°00'
Class 1
Conjunctions, oppositions: 0°00'-4°00'
Trines, sextiles, squares: 0°00'-3°00'

Re: Solar Fire Aspect List help
Under Chart Options > Aspect Set > Planetary I selected
Conjunction and Opposition Natal row for orbs 4°00' in all four boxes. Also 1°00' in the eight boxes that form the second and third row.
Same thing for Square but with Natal row for orbs 3°00'.
I guess I need to add SemiSquare and Sextile. What should I set those orbs to? Jim didn't mention in the settings guide.
Also should I add Trine as well?
Thanks

Re: Solar Fire Aspect List help
For Class 1, set semi-square and sesqui-square to 1°, trine & sextile to 3°.
Though this is aimed primarily at mundane astrology, here is a partially written booklet on setting up Solar Fire for convenience of use.

That's the PDF I've been following. I really appreciate that you made it Jim.Jim Eshelman wrote: Tue Mar 20, 2018 6:47 pm For Class 1, set semi-square and sesqui-square to 1°, trine & sextile to 3°.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Class 1" ; is that the Natal row?
Also for semi-square and sesqui-square to 1°, trine & sextile to 3° is that for the Natal row?
I'm assuming Prog and Tran all remain set at 1°?

Yes, natal - for Class 1.
This is a comprehensive discussion of how we look at orbs (in principle, an often in fine point).

My term "Class 1" is the same as Garth Allen's wordier "aspects of the first order."

Jim I have the pdf of Sidereal Interpretation Basics that you wrote. I see that there is comparison between the Aspects of planets, but nothing specific to Conjunctions, Oppositions, Trines, Squares, Sextiles, Semisquares, or Sesisquares.Jim Eshelman wrote: Tue Mar 20, 2018 7:04 pm Yes, natal - for Class 1.

Do you have a resource that you would recommend on Aspect specifics? Thanks

Re: Solar Fire Aspect List help
For the most part (I s'pose 90%) there isn't a difference worth mentioning. What matters is the two planets involved.
There is a distinction between the dynamic series (45° multiples) and the static series (primarily trine and sextile), but not an acute difference. I have a few notes here and there in the aspects section, and a discussion here on the difference in principle:

Theo only place I've started to give firmer distinctions somewhat uniformly is in the automated interpretations in the recent threads on Solar Fire interpretation files in this thread, where you can download and read the different aspect sets, broken out as 0-90-180, 60-120, and 45-135:

But, really, it's not a huge difference.
