Worrisome Lunar Return

Post by sotonye »

My next lunar return, September 3rd, at 1:07:59am, has two malefics exactly conjunct angles—Neptune on the medium coeli, Saturn on the descendant—and I'm concerned about what this all might mean. The Sun is within 4° of the Imum Coeli, though since the Sun's aspects are usually disregarded in Lunar Returns, I'm uncertain if it symbolizes anything when angular. Thoughts about this and your own personal experiences with malefic SLRs are much appreciated.

Going just on what you've stated... It's likely to be an unpleasant, worrisome month. But remember, real life is rarely as bad (or, for that matter, as good) as out dramatic interpretations.

For example, Saturn and Neptune angular is thematically dark, exaggerating the negative. But, unless you already have some area of your life ready to cave in, it likely won't be horrible.

Hi Sotonye,
would you mind posting your birth details here? Where does the Lunar return set up?

I couldn't find your date of birth, time and place anymore.

OK, I'm at a computer now and actually did the chart. I forgot what part of town you're in... I did it for birthplace, but I seem to recall you're living (maybe?) in Burbank? In any case, Hollywood is almost identical.

I'm not crazy about the Moon-Sun-Neptune T-square on angles. In the SLR itself (not yet incorporating the natal), you have:

Saturn on Dsc 0°12'
Neptune on MC 0°53'
Moon sq. MC 1°09'
Sun on IC 5°03'
-- Saturn-Neptune sq. 0°41' in mundo
-- Moon-Neptune sq. 1°29'
-- Moon-Sun sq. 2°56'
-- Sun-Neptune sq. 4°25'

This is rough. Not catastrophic (but it might feel that way emotionally here and there). The fact that Saturn and Neptune are not only angular, but so close and in exact mundane square, plus the Moon-Neptune aspects, suggest dark moods, a sense of being picked on, or similar vulnerability are pretty likely. The important thing to remember is that most of it is in your own reactions to things, more than in objective facts. (At least, that's most typical.)

The one natal planet that is closely involved, of course, is your Jupiter, which exactly squares MC (0°38'). This also leaves Neptune square your Jupiter (0°57').

You probably have some idea what the Neptune to Jupiter transit is all about because you're probably already living it. In any case, you can look it up in the Transits section. One good thing is that you are likely bringing unusually positive energy to the situation. One warning is to be careful who you trust, especially if money or things of value are at stake, because you won't necessarily make good decisions.

Yes Burbank is correct

I'm particularly worried about Saturn so closely conjunction the DSC. Someone I know had her SLR begin today and her friend killed herself a few hours ago. I do not want to experience a thing like this.

Also my natal Saturn is on my SLR midheaven. The dark and vulnerable theme might be especially pronounced if I'm interpreting this all right. I'm not sure how to prepare. Though you said in your previous post that unless things are primed to collapse it shouldn't be too bad, and this made me feel better. And even further, I just remembered that I have a Jupiter transit (square) to my Mars approaching this coming month and I hope that helps in some way.

This hasn't seemed too bad so far, seems that I'm higher reaching and more ambitious than usual, new ways of going about the pursuit of goals seemed to have opened up and what not. But I definitely will be careful with who I trust, seems like a time when fanaties might run too high. Also I sent you a pm the other day

But that's not up to you, right?

I had a friend call me today to tell me he has pancreatic cancer and isn't doing well. I'm going to go visit him next week and it just might be for the last time. FWIW I don't have any such transits or return charts. (I do have Neptune on two quotidian angles today - in the SNQ, it's square progressed Mercury on an angle to show the phone call aspect. One would hardly expect this to mark a major event of any sort, but it reflects the passing tone of the day.)
Also my natal Saturn is on my SLR midheaven.
Yes, it's foreground, but not all that close (and not tied into the other aspect patterns: It's a "floater," hanging out there by itself, and not nearly as strong as the others, so at most it means, "more of the same." I haven't done the heavier math to calculate its distance exactly, but it's barely foreground, whereas the others are all (except Sun) essentially exact.
The dark and vulnerable theme might be especially pronounced if I'm interpreting this all right. I'm not sure how to prepare.
One doesn't prepare. One opens to the experience. Especially, you don't want to resist it, which just increases the struggle with the universe. If you must try something, try (1) relaxation and rhythmic breathing, so if you get hit with a hard emotional impact you can breathe your way through it and (2) figuring out what kind of absurd, hysterical events or media viewing you can plan for yourself to actively embrace the energies: If you do these vividly enough, they may be "the event" all by themselves.

No it's not up to me

I'm sorry to hear about your friend and I hope when you see him he feels a lot better by your presence.

Also I didn't know such a subtle thing could be seen through prognostic methods?

Hm okay thank you, I was worried about this one.

I practice anapana-sati everyday and so I'll probably add another hour and try to breathe my way through this all. I think orientating myself in a way that isn't obstinate is the best way to go about it, I normally would have never considered embracing a difficult thing. It would be really funny if the event turned out to be self induced lol. Thank you

I think the key to navigating life is to embrace reality. Certainly from the point of view of astrology, if there is a particular energy moving through our lives we want to embrace it - whatever it is - not try to avoid it. As in surfing, you can pick one approach to riding that wave instead of another approach, but you will get the wave anyway. If you resist it, then you drive it unconscious and abdicate your control over it.

This SLR concludes today and despite what the chart suggested it was actually one of the best months I've had all year! There were some difficulties here and there, but for the most part it was a lot of fun! And there were some new and terrific accomplishments in there too! For example, I successfully completed a two week water fast for the first time and really it felt as if the whole world lifted from my shoulders! It was really something. Very good.
