In Washington, a borderline-dormant Canlunar had Saturn setting and a Moon-Venus square. If we take the Arilunar as flowing through, it had a 0°03' Moon-Saturn mundane square, both about 3° from angles with Uranus and (especially) Venus interwoven, e.g., Venus-Saturn square 2°. Venus is the most angular planet.Jupiter Sets at Dawn wrote: Fri Nov 30, 2018 9:50 pm George H. W. Bush

Houston, Texas
Pluto was 0°31' from square Capsolar Asc. CapQ had Mars 1°37' from WP, Neptune 0°09' from Dsc, typical planets for the death of a president.
Switching to Houston, the city - which has now lost its two most prominent citizens this year - is weighted under a Capsolar with Moon-Mercury-Saturn on IC. The Canlunar has an atypical Sun-Jupiter conjunction on WP with Mercury nearby. The CapQ brought ingress Mars to IC for the day, doubled with Mars transiting Cansolar Dsc 0°47' square Sun on Cansolar IC 0°14'. Saturn was 0°19' from the Houston CanQ Ascendant when the city's proudest son breathed his last, plus two Pluto's within 1° of EP.

Paris riots
Yes, it's been rough for Macron. I haven't written anything because we don't have a single, concentrated date that concentrates it. But, for a quick check...sotonye wrote: Sat Dec 08, 2018 3:57 pm Since the end of November massive riots have been taking place in France over a gas tax, and since then clashes have occurred between police with around 1,000 French protestors being jailed in recent days.
As for the rest of the world, the Paris Capsolar (dormant) has a Moon-Mercury-Saturn conjunction. The Cansolar also dormant, but its closest angularity being Neptune 3 1/2° off IC (typical for mob-madness). Even the Libsolar is dormant, being all the attention is on the 0°34' Moon-Mars conjunction and 0°37' Moon-Mercury square. (BTW, the Arisolar is dormant also, meaning its only impact on Paris was the 2°24' Moon-Saturn square.)
Things have been worse this past month. The current Caplunar (November 13) has Sun on EP 0°44', meaning the government's (and president's) role in people's lives is in unusually high focus. It is squared by a non-foreground Mars (0°56' in mundo). Against that is a universal Moon-Venus partile square.
And, in the last few days, the transiting Mars-Neptune conjunction squares the Paris Capsolar Ascendant AND crosses the Cansolar IC.

Jakelin Caal Maquin, the little girl who died of dehydration in Border Patrol custody, was born December 3, 2011 in Raxruhá, in the Alta Verapaz region of Guatamala. She was Q’eqchi’ which is another name for Mayan, and she and her father spoke almost no English or Spanish. She died died at 12:35 a.m December 8, 2018 of of dehydration and septic shock at a trauma center in El Paso TX.

Thanks. I'll work up the mundane side of this when I get some bandwidth.Jupiter Sets at Dawn wrote: Sat Dec 15, 2018 12:37 pm Jakelin Caal Maquin, the little girl who died of dehydration in Border Patrol custody, was born December 3, 2011 in Raxruhá, in the Alta Verapaz region of Guatamala. (Returning.) This is a striking example of flow-through. For El Paso, all solar ingresses of the last year are dormant except the Arisolar, which has:
Moon on Dsc 0°44'
Saturn on IC 1°48'
-- Moon-Saturn sq. 2°24'
Mars and Mercury more widely foreground
This couldn't be a better description! All the Saturn messages of tragedy (plus dehydration etc.) tied to the specific marker of "children are involved," angular Moon. Without understanding dormancy and flow-through, we'd have no reason to expect this chart to be important, yet our working methods exactly identify it in advance as the only solar ingress that is relevant to the event. (BTW, this ingress also seems to show the loss of El Paso's "favorite son," Beto O'Rourke, in the Senate race.)
The Caplunar is fine enough, but hardly targeted. It has Uranus closely conjunct MC with a wide angular Venus and a partile worldwide Moon-Venus square. The prior non-dormant lunar ingress was the Canlunar, with strange symbolism, a Sun-Mercury-Jupiter mundane conjunction on Descendant, all squared by Mars (which is widely square Ascendant).
The CapQ in El Paso has Mars and Jupiter each (separately) partile to an angle. But the real marker is the CanQ with Ascendant conjunct ingress Saturn, MC square Pluto.
Circling back to the view from Washington...
We know the solar ingresses well. Besides their distinctive angularities, there are quite severe Moon aspects in both the Capsolar and Libsolar involving Moon, a malefic, and Mercury.
The Liblunar is severe enough to cause me to forecast, "It is the worst week of the month, toxic and treacherous... It may show higher levels of government presence, intervention, or oversight, or a heightened perception that government agents (such as police) are more intrusive... ripe for scandalous police malfeasance.. greater risk of treachery, sabotage, other betrayal, poisoned relationships, and scandal." I think this is all true. I remember that, when I wrote it, I was thinking that "scandalous police malfeasance" was going to be the big event. Until this moment I hadn't connected that to the border guards.
The factors in this Liblunar are Mercury rising in mundane square to Mars-Neptune on IC, and Sun on EP ecliptically square Mars-Neptune.
The CapQ had transiting Mars on WP (1°07'). Pluto has been transiting Capsolar Ascendant for weeks, and was 43' away when this happened.
The girl had some severe natal factors, but they likely also were those which had let her undertake the migration as far as she had. A Sun-Mercury conjunction in Scorpio squares Mars. Moon is either in Aquarius or Pisces, and may conjoin Uranus. Using noon CST positions for her (Raxruha is 15N52, 90W03), transits at her death include:
t Neptune sq. r Mercury 0°58'
-- Neptune is conj. Mars partile, but Mars is past her natal planets
t Saturn conj. r Venus 0°25'
Her last SLR was the day of a Mercury-Neptune partile square. This fell atop natal Sun, Mercury, and Mars and I wouldn't be surprised if they were all angular. Mars was near natal Neptune.
But the worst sadness, besides the fact that this happened at all, is that her birthday was only five days earlier. We don't know what was on the angles of her SSR (surely it was Saturn or the Mars-Neptune conjunction), but some of the aspects were quite happy, including Moon's probable aspects to Venus-Uranus. She had a new life ahead of her, one might have thought. Ah, but odds are very high that SSR moon conjoined her Saturn. (For a noon birth, it would have been 0°07', so it was close if she was born anywhere but the earliest or latest hours of the day.)

I badly want somebody charged with murder for this. Won't happen. Never happens. You can do anything when you've got a badge. (A police officer who used a taser on somebody he knew was mentally ill twelve times till he collapsed and died was just acquitted here. The man was literally licking the windows of the gas station where this all happened and he was tasered twelve times. And they kept hitting him and yelling at him for trying to crawl away from being hit. Four of them. It was a diverse group. Where is this coming from?)
The worst part of this horrible episode for me was the video of border patrol people going into the desert, onto private land, and pouring out the jugs of water people leave there for refugees. And laughing while they do it.The Liblunar is severe enough to cause me to forecast, "It is the worst week of the month, toxic and treacherous... Good news - Explosion in Sapporo, Japan
December 16, 2018
8:30 PM
Sapporo, Japan
43 people hurt, 23 buildings and 24 vehicles damaged, including a hospital that won't be able to reopen till the end of this month.
The resulting fire was officially declared out at 2:10 AM
Originally the reports were there was a gas explosion in a restaurant in the Toyohiro ward in Sapporo, Japan.
That was a mistake. Over 100 discharged cans of air freshener, some of them leaking, in the real estate office in the same building somehow detonated. The one victim with the most serious injuries was a young man who was in the office at the time.
The second floor of the restaurant collapsed, allowing the people trapped there to escape, including several children, one as young as a year old. According to the fire department they otherwise would have died.

Wow look at the Dow
December 17, 2018
3:36 PM NYC
The Dow was down 575 points. Is starting to bounce back up now heading for closing. The Dow always rises toward closing because the smart money tries to buy when it's down.
Oops. 3:40 PM, down 590 points. Still bouncing around.

Yes, looks like it's going to close somewhere between -550 and -600.
Notice that the lowline we're waiting for it to cross is bout 23,300, and at the moment it's about 23,500. As Steve has been teaching us, we're looking to see if it's under 23,300 on a Friday and then, if so, if it is also below that one the last trading day of the month. (I'm not sure if that's Friday 12/28 or if the market is open Monday 12/31. I think it's the former.)

Re: 2018 December events
Yes, the market is testing the important April 2018 low at 23,300. Will the market bounce from this yearly low or close below this critical low on the weekly/monthly charts? Technically speaking, a close below this yearly low on the monthly charts will probably set-up a prolonged Bear Market. We have been in a prolonged Bull Market since 2008 with prices rising from 6,500 to 26,800, the largest Bull Market price rise I have seen in my life. The Holidays are approaching which normally produces lackluster markets. With the market near the yearly lows in 2018, the first week in Jan will be important to watch to see if the market bounces from the 2018 yearly low or closes below this important bottom with the weekly/monthly charts.

The market at the moment is below 23,300. This may or may not hold until Friday.
After a nearly 300 gain at one point today, the DJIA has dropped over 700 points to about 400 loss. The cause is clear: News broke that the Fed had raised interest rates again, I refreshed my browser and saw that, almost to the minute, the market started steep free-fall.
Perhaps just for the day, of course.

YES!
Today Dec 19, the DOW made a new intra-day low for the calendar year 2018 at 23,162. Also, the Dow closed at a new daily low close for the year at 23,323.
For a look at the 2018 yearly charts with new lows go to:

Now let us see if we get a new weekly close for the calendar year below weekly close at app 23,500 at close this Friday. And then to see if we get a new monthly close for the year with last trading day of Dec 2018. Not sure if the market is open on Dec 31.

Steve, can you find out if the market is open New Years Eve day?
This is a good time to remind everyone that, while the recovery during the Obama years was marked by most years having Moon-Jupiter aspects in the Capsolar, this is the first year to have a Moon-Saturn in the Capsolar. Consequently, we have at best a year slowed to horizontal movement - putting a rope on the bull - and, as of this moment, have the first year in many where the market may end lower than it started for the year.
For this Capsolar, the forecast all year has been: "Expect economic narrowing and backtracking on the recovery: recession is not unthinkable... Resources are squandered, stretched past capacity."

Justice Ginsberg will be spending a few days in the hospital after having several small tumors removed from her lungs. This is the third time she's had surgery for cancer, and the doctors believe she is currently cancer free.
Edited to add: She went in to the Supreme Court today and added her vote to four others to stop Trump's attempt to declare nobody who entered the country illegally could receive asylum.
Then she went to the hospital and had the tumors dealt with.

As of now, there is no way the market is going to be above 23,300. At the moment, the DJIA is under 22,600 and there's no way (given today's behavior and circumstances) it's going to jump more than 700 points before close.

Exactly! The market is breaking out into a clear bear market! I will be very interested in seeing where the DOW is at the end of this Capsolar, which allowed you and I to see market troubles to the downside during the 2018 Capsolar year, with that Moon-Mercury-Saturn cnj. At the end of this Capsolar, I want to get a list of other world markets comparing how far they dropped with other markets, seeing if the largest % drop was with Moon-Saturn possibly on the angles.

Either exactly angular or dormant: That's how the Saturn has been showing this year.

Indeed it does, and that's also the main message for Washington where their mundane square is partile (Saturn 2°38' from Asc, Uranus 1°52' from IC, square 0°46').SteveS wrote: Sat Dec 22, 2018 5:38 am The DOW finished its worst bear week in 10 years of trading. I didn't anticipate specifically financial impact, but did predict "bubble-bursting forced confrontation with harsh reality," which maybe describes this event (and, in any case, describes the mindset in Washington on a lot of other things this week, culminating in multiple Republican leaders concluding they must now have some sort of intervention with Trump). I expected loss + explosion or their psychological equivalents in an "uncertain, disruptive month." i later said it would be "harsh, startling, disillusioning, and destabilizing." Again, the tone was caught but not the significant, specific result.
BTW, I also said that in theory we expect Saturn-Uranus to be partisan divide (or something like it) but that we don't really see that just because this aspect is foreground in a lunar ingress. That was the right call, because in some ways this was the least partisan month in Congress in years. The crime bill finally got through, hailed as a bipartisan victory long awaited. Even for the budget matters leading to government shutdown, the deadlock wasn't partisan in the sense that there weren't acute differences between Republicans and Democrats. There were disagreements between the House and the Senate, and between Congress as a whole and the president (which was nicely refreshing). The exact words of the forecast are:
In theory, we expect tension of opposing factions and wide swings between opposites (e.g., freedom vs. restriction, liberality vs. conservatism, a struggle between forces of change and the status quo), with political and practical gridlock until one side gains dominance. We should watch for these to expand our knowledge of the aspect; but the most likely events are the [confrontation with harsh reality etc.] ones described above.

Jim, I think your overall political forecast nailed the symbolism for DC. We never know the specifics but indeed there was some harsh 'tensions' in DC with the shutdown and Trump's potential legal crises.

12/22/18 Indonesia tsunami
December 22, 2018, 9:27 PM, somewhere in Indonesia
I'd been trying to avoid looking into this event because it still seems ill-defined - thanks for the times the two of you provided, and I'm still not sure of a location, plus it had seemed a small event (a couple of hundred deaths from tsunamis in Indonesia is small; tens of thousands are the usual effect). But it does now seem to be a high-impact event, especially in terms of the surprise.
So let's try to figure out a location. Sunda Strait is the ocean area between Sumatra and Java. (Krakatau is a small island southwest of the strait.) There's a shipping lane across the strait and, if we take it as an average location, it's center is around 6S14, 105E53. However, I'm not sure exactly where the point of impact was, and this may be too general. There's a city called Merak on the Java side and a bunch of little towns on the Sumatra side. Unfortunately, the article doesn't name any particular place that was hit.
Later. I've found articles listing larger cities on either side of the strait quite a bit inland, but mostly as "in the region of." It might actually be easier to treat this as just a part of the volcano eruption, which occurred December 22, 14:03 UT, -6.1001115,105.416837.
Another article said the tsunami hit beaches in Lampung and Banten - which are pretty far apart! I imagine it means the provinces, though, and not the cities, so it's just another way of saying the beaches on the inward facing sides of the two islands. So what I have so far is:
Wikipedia gives coordinates of the strait as 5S55 105E53. I now see they got this from Google Maps' positioning of the center of the strait.
Picking the narrowest part of the straits on maps.google.com translates to 6S14, 105E53
I might almost prefer to use Jakarta, which (1) wasn't that far away and (2) is the capital. Jakarta is 6S19, 106E48.
I guess I'll use the center of the straits for now. (This is a lot of work just to get the location of an event and I've been up all night - we just got in around 5:00 and I'm trying to do this before going to bed.)
So: December 22, 2018, 9:27 PM (zone -7), 5S55, 105E53. It's a barrage of Uranus and Pluto, perfectly on-target for the surprise element (which seems to be the biggest characteristic of it); then Day timing that is clearly deadly.

The forming Full Moon fell across Cansolar meridian. For this approximate longitude, at the time the tsunami hit Moon was 0°02' from IC and Sun just under 2° from MC.

Anak Krakatoa eruption
December 22, 2018, 14:03 Ut (21:03 LT), 6S06, 105E25
I think the eruption was likely timed by the Full Moon on purely gravitational grounds. These charts are going to be nearly identical to the others, but at least I have a sure location this time.

Dow surges upward, breaking records
The stock market recovered with a passion today, the DJIA closing up 1,086 points, the most it's ever gained in a single day. It's now actually in shooting range of of closing next Monday above 23,300 (though we still have to wait and see if it will). Today's close was 22,878. Closing was at 4 PM in New York City.
The main non-astrological factor contributing to this is that reports were in from Christmas sales in retail and they were excellent. People spent tons of money this year and retail did really well.
Prior research showed that, on days of the greatest market gains, the Washington, DC CapQ showed as significant (luminaries on angles) and remarkable (Uranus and Pluto on angles). Specifically, Moon-Pluto and Moon-Pluto aspects and Sun or Moon on CapQ angles. For NYC, CapQ tended to have Mars on angles. Venus most often transited NY and DC Capsolar angles. Jupiter was unusually common on NYC angles of the Week chart.
On days of greatest amount of trading (either direction), the Washington CapQ most often had Pluto on an angle. For NYC, CapQ tended to have Mars on angles. Pluto transited Capsolar angles most often, both for Washington & NYC. Mars was most often angular in the Week charts for NYC and DC.
How do these historic patterns compare to today? At close today:
* Transiting Pluto conjoins Washington Capsolar IC & squares its Ascendant. For NYC, Pluto squares Ascendant and Uranus transits its WP.
* Transiting Mars conjoins Washington Cansolar Dsc.
* Transiting Sun & ingress Mercury-Saturn are on Washington CapQ IC. Transiting Sun and ingress Mercury are on NYC CapQ IC.
* The Week chart (current Canlunar) does not have Jupiter angular but does have Venus rising.
* Transiting Jupiter is exactly on NYC CanQ MC with Venus on its WP.
This does every well against historic patterns: DC CapQ has Sun angular. Pluto transited Washington's and NYC's Capsolar angles. Mars was not on NYC CapQ angles but did exactly transit a Cansolar angle (adrenaline-pumped trade floor mania). The Week chart does not have Jupiter but was benefic.
We also had a Saturn we didn't expect, but also gained a fantastic Jupiter and Venus we didn't expect.
Overall: Not bad. Historic results seemed duplicated for the most part.

Re: 2018 December events
Technically speaking, not unusual after breaking out to downside with oversold conditions for market to rally back to the old 2018 bottoms around 23,500, and then resume its bear trend for new lows. Let's see if this will be the case. I think the market is discounting some type of bad news in a few months.

NY sky burned turquoise
December 27, 2018, 9:12 PM, Queens, NY
New York City residents saw their sky suddenly flash turquoise for about half a minute (or, as several friends of mine said on Facebook, the sky turned green). The cause (wrongly reported as an explosion) was a Con Ed transformer malfunction that arced electricity much like a lightning strike, due to equipment malfunction.
There were few consequences beyond some puzzled oohs and aahs as far away as New Jersey. Nobody was hurt. Some windows rattled from loud explosion-like sounds as the arc hit the ground. A few people had a brief power outage. LaGuardia halted flights for an hour beginning at 9:22 PM.
All sorts of exotic weirdness can be expected under the 2018 Capsolar, which looks much the same for Queens as it does for Washington. We do get a fairly literal portrayal of this event in the current Caplunar, though (perhaps a bit too negatively weighted):
Saturn on Asc 1°14'
Uranus on IC 3°02'
Venus on MC 7°07'
Pluto on Asc 9°29'
-- Venus-Pluto sq. 2°22'
With a dormant Canlunar, we look back to the Arilunar and see Pluto sq. MC 0°23', plus an elevated Moon-Uranus conjunction.
The CapQ is a bit too severe but at least captures the airport traffic hold: CapQ IC has Sun on ingress Mercury 2° on one side, transiting Saturn 2° off the other side. Mars crossing Cansolar angles probably fired off the reaction.

Child shot dead in Houston
December 30, 2018, 7:00 AM, Houston, TX
A 7-year-old girl was killed when she was shot in the head in a drive-by shooting. We'll likely see a lot of attention to this event (as we should). At the moment, it seems arbitrary and tragic.
https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/01/us/texas ... index.html
The shooting occurred as Moon crossed MC, which was also squared exactly by Pluto, I know without looking that the Capsolar's Moon-Mercury-Saturn line cuts through Houston, so it seems the Capsolar is going to get one last lashing in for child + tragedy + car.
