Kidnappings

I have data on three significant kidnappings: Lindbergh, Hearst, Close. These have been analyzed here.

It occurred to me to try to collect more of these. I found a list in Wikipedia that I will explore as time allows, to see what can be extracted.

I'm specifically looking for criminal kidnapping of an individual, therefore excluding the categories of fake kidnappings, uncertain kidnappings, and mass kidnappings. (On second thought, I might include mass kidnappings.)

From what I've seen in limited cases, Bradley's allegation that Pluto is the pivot plan for kidnapping seems true. Let's see if it holds up.

I might have to divide these into categories, e.g., hope for ransom, hope for political leverage, maybe others. I will exclude those where someone was kidnapped and killed if it seems the murder was the real motive, but will include them if there was another motive (e.g., ransom, but the victim was killed anyway)/.

July 15, 1976, about 4 PM. Chowchilla, CA
Motive: ransom. (But they were never able to demand it due to congested phone lines.)

A school bus driver and 26 children were abducted by three armed men, buried in a moving van in a quarry in Livermore. They escaped unharmed 16 hours later (digging their way out). The kidnappers were caught, convicted, and imprisoned.

The abduction occurred with Mars exactly on MC, Jupiter exactly setting (paran).

January 23, 2013, just after 3:30 PM, Midland City, AL
Motive: Wanted a female reporter to interview him as he committed suicide on live TV.

An armed Vietnam War veteran boarded a school bus, killed the driver, and kidnapped a 5-year-old boy that he held hostage in a bunker until authorities killed the kidnapper and freed the boy a week later (Feb 4, 3:12 PM).

The kidnapping occurred with Venus and Pluto setting but not conjunct. The chart was quite similar to the recent Capsolar.

Oct 6, 1972, about 3 PM, Faraday, Victoria, Australia (near Melbourne) 37S03, 144E17
Motive: $1,000,000 ransom

Two men kidnapped six female students and their 20-year-old female teacher to demand ransom. The teacher escaped with the girls when victims escaped when the men left to pick up the ransom, which the government had agreed to pay. The kidnappers were caught at the pickup, arrested, and imprisoned.

July 10, 1973, 3:00 AM, Rome, Italy
Motive: $17 million ransom

At age 16, while living in Rome, Getty III was kidnapped for ransom. His grandfather, then the richest man in the world, refused to pay it until one of the boy's ears and a lock of his hair were cut off and sent to him.

Reportedly, he initiated the plan to have himself kidnapped to raise money, then changed his mind; but the kidnappers went ahead with it anyway. Eventually his grandfather paid $2.9 million for his release ($2.2M directly, as the largest amount that was tax deductible, and the rest as a loan to JPG Jr., the boy's father). He was released December 15, 1973, five months after his abduction. The kidnappers were arrested, some were convicted and some were acquitted.

September 19, 1974, time unknown, place unknown in Argentina
Motive: ransom

Brothers Jorge and Juan Born, ages 41 and 40, heirs to one of the families controlling Bunge & Born, were kidnapped by members of the left-wing Peronist terrorist group Montoneros and held nine months until $60 million in ransom was paid, the largest ransom to date.

I would guess that this occurred in Buenos Aires, but I can't confirm it.
