It occurred to me to mention a point that might be obscure to many people.Jim Eshelman wrote:
Racism, and other forms of cultural and in-group/out-group intolerance that has been so visibly in play, is a product of Moon-Jupiter. We've had several consecutive years with close Moon-Jupiter aspects in the Capsolar, and this (along with religious and political intolerance, among other forms) has been very active in mass-mind during that time.
If you think of Moon-Jupiter just has "has to be something good," you'll miss this. Even in natal astrology, we know that Moon-Jupiter can be intensely elitist and identified with being "in the right group." The theme which I see very strongly present with Moon-Jupiter in mundane astrology is "my kind first," "seeking advantage for my family, my community, those who are like me." This has led to some of the most important civil rights breakthroughs in our history, and also fosters the bigotry and segregation thinking which is the flip side of the same coin. In SMA, I summarized Moon-Jupiter aspects thus:
Some representative examples may help solidify this understanding.A period of growing prosperity with less newsworthy disaster and hurt than usual. Diplomacy, dignity, and elitism prevail. Most pronounced is a theme of “our people first,” i.e., strong elements of national pride, patriotism, family, community, and standing first for those groups with which one identifies. This can be divisive as well as unifying. Hurtful events now will carry this narrowness just as much as positive events benefit from the inspired togetherness.
For fostering civil liberties, we have Moon-Jupiter present at the signing of the Magna Carta (which was really a bunch of elitist British "good ol' boy" barons wanting the king to leave them alone and give them special privilege), the U.S. Declaration of Independence (with all respect to that event, it was, again, a gathering primarily of white, moneyed land owners), the opening of the Seneca Falls Convention, the “Bloody Sunday” march toward Selma, and the Stonewall riots.
Among killing events, consider the Virginia Tech massacre, with a strong Moon-Jupiter conjunction dominating many of the charts. This shooter was obsessed with the idea that the rich and privileged were harming everybody else, and that he was going to draw attention to it. The Oslo attacks shooter said he wanted to draw attention to the growing "Muslim menace" that he believed his government, and Europe in general, was ignoring to everyone's detriment. The Peshawar school massacre and Charlie Hebdo massacre were retaliations in religious wars. And, of course, the Charleston AME massacre was apparently perpetrated by a kid who was fiercely racist, espoused a segregated nation, wrapped himself in the Confederate flag, and wanted to start a new American Civil War, all to protect white people (his people). The Moon-Jupiter sponsored launch of the 2001 Afghanistan war and 2003 Iraq War for Baghdad were similar "us vs. them" retaliations and, some would say, religious wars.
Woodstock was a new discovery of "our people."
