The entire astrological world joins me tonight in honoring my old friend and colleague, Noel Tyl, who died today on his birthday. A giant in size, heart, talent, and contribution, a man of diverse talents (Time Magazine once called him the only American singer who could perform Wotan well, in its review of The Ring Cycle in Seattle), he defined "professionalism" as "talent on demand" - something that felt so right and true that I adopted it as my own standard.
When I would book Noel for a conference he was happy to appear on one condition: That he gave him enough speaking slots (I think his minimum was six) to give out as much as he could. He stayed at my house once - we jousted each time we saw each other - he was a living stream of sharing and teaching.
Though he was not an exponent of the Sidereal zodiac, I always had to chuckle with him that only his Sagittarius-Leo luminaries in the Sidereal does his own horoscope show the scope and majesty which defined his style and reach. He was born December 31, 1936, 3:57 PM EST, West Chester, PA. (I haven't checked his SSR since I don't know where he was today.)
Bon voyage, O sailor of the stars.

Re: Noel Tyl RIP
A great astrological mind, he taught me much particularly with his Solar Arc teachings with the historical development of Solar Arcs. RIP Noel.

Very sorry to hear of Noel's passing. I met him only once when he visited the "On the Way Astrology Center", San Diego, CA where I taught. Of special value was his book that included Solar Arc directions, a method I use to this day. May he Rest in Peace.
