I've been having that debate on line. For all those people I recently told, "I'll see you next decade," I did mean next week. However, the third decade of the 21st century doesn't start until next year.

We are, however, in the Raging Twenties!

I know the argument. I prefer to go with the greater unwashed's intuition and count the year ending in zero in with the rest of the years carrying the same 3rd number.

I also don't can't think of a single reason it matters.

Do the mundane charts show anything for the US airstrike (ordered by President Trump) in Baghdad, Iraq that killed Iran's General Qassem Soleimani? :?

It's covered under the US forecast 12-27-19 to 1-15-2020.
Mercury-Neptune sets the tone in the December 20 Liblunar (covering Dec 20 to Jan 4): Both planets are closely angular and they are square (1°31'). While Mercury-Neptune broadly connotes confusion, disorientation, and bad (confused) choices, its strongest characteristic is uncertainty in the form of wondering, “What’s next?” or, “What happens now?” Its appearance usually means that something significant has happened which suspends people's certainty about the near future. (Other Mercury-Neptune themes include impairment of transportation and communication.)

There is a sense of tragedy (or a foreshadow of pending tragedy): Moon forms close mundane squares with Pluto (0°14') and Saturn (1°30'). It seems people do not know what to make of a loss.

Thanks JSAD. That does seem quite fitting.

Malaysia's capital, Kuala Lumpur also had Mercury-Neptune on angles for its Liblunar, and yesterday our Education Minister stepped down (it was also the day the new school term began in this country). It brought much confusion too as to who would replace him. He isn't a favourite of many.

Yes, I think the Liblunar shows the psychological tone well. Perhaps even more to the point, though, is the Bridge, which from December 30 to January 15 has Saturn and Pluto both conjunct the Washington Capsolar Eastpoint. In fact, the exact Saturn-Pluto conjunction occurs a couple of days before the Capsolar year ends, and falls within 1° of the Capsolar EP. Here is what the forecast says about this period:
Saturn conjoins Capsolar Eastpoint along with Pluto December 30 until the Capsolar expires January 15, building to the SATURN-PLUTO conjunction January 12. Saturn-Pluto signifies apocalyptic feelings - a great, irrevocable loss or separation from which there is no going back to what was before. Sometimes it forms harsh, dramatic tragedies or hardship, catastrophic disasters laying waste to a landscape. Great cities and even nations have fallen under this combined influence, never to rise again - though that, of course, would be an extreme and (thankfully) less likely outcome.
Remember that the last time the U.S. had a Saturn-Pluto aspect on solar ingress angles was in the Cansolar right before 9/11/2001.

War would not be a surprise right now (even if we ignore the need for the Grating Pumpkin to let the tail wag the dog right now). Saturn-Pluto is the most reliable outer-planet aspect for war. Saturn-Pluto aspects were closely angular in ingresses covering Britain entering WW II, Pearl Harbor for both Hawaii and Washington, the Fall of Saigon, 9/11, the start of the Armenian Holocaust and the Sri Lankan civil war, the Destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, the Sack of Constantinople, D-Day, and the Yom Kippur War for both Israel and Egypt. This is aside from smaller, more domestic attacks and conflicts such as the Nellie massacre, the Oslo attacks and massacre, or in this country the CSA siege, Ruby Ridge siege, and Waco siege.

And don't forget that Russia was just confirmed to have the world's first hypersonic weapon that can bypass all of our missile defenses and North Korea is promising "real soon now" to give the world the details on its brand new class of intercontinental weapon.

With a President whose survival depends on suddenly needing to look commandingly presidential, one doesn't need astrology to think that war is nearly inevitable.

Trump's current SLR has a partile mundane Mars-Mars transit. His Demi-SLR before that had transiting and natal Mars both angular. His January 8 Demi-SLR has transiting Mars setting in Scorpio mundanely square natal Pluto on the IC (which is more likely to go "face the music in the witness chair," but could be flipped to something even more confrontational)

U.S. attack on Baghdad airfield

Post by Jim Eshelman »

The U.S. attack in Iraq that killed the top Iranian military leader occurred January 3, 2020, at "shortly after midnight." I've not yet tracked down exact coordinates, and the time is slightly fuzzy...
Don't know exactly when but where was just outside the Bagdad airport, like two cars left through the gates and boom boom.

According to wikipedia,
Qasem Soleimani (born Born: 11 March 1957) was killed on 3 January 2020 around 1 am local time (22:00 UTC on 2 January). He'd just left his plane when American drones shot missiles into his convoy near Baghdad International Airport.

I can't find the rest of the post, so if even I preserved it, I can't restore it.

I guess I'd made some comments. The main point is that the most recent solar ingress for Baghdad has Mars square Ascendant (and a foreground mundane Sun-Uranus square); all lunar ingresses are dormant; and the CapQ put transiting Mars on Descendant.

PA Turnpike Crash

Post by Jupiter Sets at Dawn »

January 5, 2020, 3:34 AM Eastern, Mount Pleasant Township, in Westmoreland County, PA on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
A tour bus failed to make a turn on a downgrade, ran up an embankment and tipped over, and was then hit by three tractor trailers, including one UPS and one FedEx and then a passenger vehicle.
Five people died including two UPS drivers and a nine year old child. Over sixty people hurt, 5 still critical. Many of the people taken to hospitals spoke no English, and translators for both Japanese and Spanish were required.

This feels like a Mercury Some Malefic thing, but looking at the zodiacial chart, Mercury was conjuct the Sun and Jupiter, and trine the Moon, while Venus and Mars were both partile conjunct the Asc and MC respectively.

I'm hoping I don't regret not getting my flu shot this year. (I usually do not get one.) Saturn conjoins my Mars most of January, then moves on to Neptune.

Puerto Rico earthquake

Post by Jim Eshelman »

A somewhat sizable quake struck PR a short while ago. No word yet on how it was felt or whether there was secondary impact.

January 6, 2020, 10:32:18 UT, 17N52'03'', 66W49'10''

Magnitude 5.8 per USGS (some other sources say 6.0, but I'll go with this one).

UPDATE: CNN calls this a "damaging" earthquake and says numerous aftershocks are expected. No major injuries reported yet, so I'm not sure what "damages" are involved. - The charts start strongly and bring nothing at the end - a much more volatile, potentially destructive time is in 3 or 4 days.

Year: Capsolar Sun rising 1°08' conjunct Pluto, square Uranus. Moon on IC.

Bridge

Quarter: @solar Uranus 0°54' from IC paran Pluto more widely rising. (Moon opposite Jupiter worldwide.)

Month: Caplunar Mars sq. Asc 0°01'. (Moon-Pluto conj.)

Week: Arilunar (Dormant.)

Day: Capsolar Quotidian CanQ Asc conj. Mercury (too far for Saturn & Pluto). EP on t Sun.

Day: Cansolar Transits t Jupiter sq. MC 0°38'

Ask your doctor for a supply of tamiflu or whatever is hot this year, before you get sick. Put some in whatever (wallet, backpack) you take with you everyday. At the first sign of, gee, I'm really tired and this came on kinda sudden, take the medicine. Dry if you have to.
Chances are good if you wait till you need it, by the time you get to the doctor and get a script, the pharmacies will be out of it. It's good for at least an 8 year shelf life, btw. And don't give your supply away. And get Marion to get some too even if she was sensible and got her shots. Not all the strains got into the shot (as usual.)

Thanks. I meant to update the earlier post this morning and hadn't gotten there yet. The charts are going to be nearly identical to those for the earlier quake (and there have been several of five or higher in the last 24 hours, so it must be pretty shaky there).

The full data on the biggest one of the batch (the one you wrote about):

Mag 6.4
January 7, 2020, 8:24:26 UT
17N54'58'', 66W48'45''

This, like the one above, is close to Indios, PR. It occurred with Neptune on IC during a partile Moon-Mars opposition.

Iran launched missiles at bases in Iraq

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Iran has launched missiles at two military bases in Iraq where U.S. soldiers are stationed. The Pentagon has acknowledged 13 missiles; Iran says it launched many tens of missiles but this seems overstated from anything else I can find.

UPDATE 1/8: It looks like there were no U.S. casualties and "no major damage."

According to CNN, the rocket attack occurred at 1:30 AM January 8, 2020 (5:30 PM EST January 7). UPDATE: Time should be 1:20, not 1:30. Main effect of this is that it displaces Jupiter from an angle for DC and puts the Saturn-Pluto on the OTHER side of the angle.

The various locations possibly bearing astrological significance are:

-- Tehran, from which they surely were ordered (though they seem to have been launched from inside Iraq).
-- Washington, for impact on U.S.
-- Possibly Baghdad, as Iraq is affected (and the attacks occurred somewhat near it)
-- Erbil (or Irbil), Iraq
-- Al-Asad Airbase, Iraq, 33N48, 42E26

The U.S. charts are well enough known and documented in the monthly forecast. For today, At the time of the attack, though, the nearly-precise Saturn-Pluto conjunction was exactly setting in Washington, just as transiting Saturn and Pluto (24' apart)both conjoin the Capsolar EP. Jupiter was exactly on Descendant of the CanQ and squared MC in Washington for the moment of the attack.

WORKING THIS UP FIRST FOR AL-ASAD AIRBASE...
The Caplunar has Neptune setting. the Arilunar has Venus closely rising and Mars moderately on MC. The real showing is CapQ Dsc conjunct t Mars. CanQ has transiting Sun conjunct ingress Saturn exactly on IC. (The worst showing is that the Capsolar for Al-Asad - itself a very positive, peaceful chart - has transiting Venus exactly on its MC. Interestingly, it's in the exaltation degree of Mars.)

Ukrainian plane crashes in Iran

Post by Jim Eshelman »

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukraine_I ... Flight_752
UPDATE: Crash site 35N33'40", 51E06'14"

A Ukraine International Airlines plane (Boeing 737: Flight PS752) crashed while taking off from Imam Khomeini International Airport at 6"12 AM. 180 people were aboard. No information about casualties. UPDATE: LA Times now reports that everyone aboard died. UPDATE 1/8: This morning the number on board is being stated as 176 with no survivors.

UPDATE 1/8: The last data from the plane (which crashed about two minutes after takeoff) was that it was travelling at altitude 4,600 feet at about 500 mph and climbing. Video of the crash suggests that the plane was on fire as it was diving. (This is suspicious to me.)

Here's a YouTube of a news report by someone or other: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjxslNzj5jg

UPDATE 1/9: A report this morning says it was accidentally shot down by Iran's anti-aircraft weapons, per U.S. intelligence.

Coahuila mass shooting

Post by Jim Eshelman »

January 10, 2020, 8:15 AM, Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico

An 11-year-old 6th grade boy opened fire at his school, Cervantes de Torreon, killing one teacher and injuring six other people. The shooter also died.

The boy was described as "generally well behaved" and surprised some when, soon before the shooting, he told friends, "Today is the day." Currently, his state of mind is being attached to his fondness for the video game Natural Selection.

I take the time from reports I wish were clearer. At about 8:15 a teacher saw him leaving the school restroom with two guns in hand. I think that's when it started. Saturn-Pluto had risen together shortly before.

Impeachment case managers & forwarding to Senate

Post by Jim Eshelman »

The House of Representatives will vote to approve the case managers for the impeachment trial and to forward the articles of impeachment to the Senate between 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM (Eastern) today. At 5:00 PM, Speaker Pelosi and others will hold a brief engrossment ceremony for the articles, after which the articles will be walked across the building and hand-delivered to the Senate.

Symbolism is excellent: Notice that this is exactly at sunset, with that setting Sun still conjunct Saturn and Pluto. (Visual sunset is 5:10 PM.)

Three and a half minutes before voting begins (at 12:26:30 PM), Sun enters Sidereal Capricorn. This is the Master Chart for the nation in mundane astrology terms for the next 12 months. If somehow you haven't seen it yet, take a look. I think nobody will have trouble catching its main message at a glance.

I read the main message as one way or another Trump will not achieve a 2nd term!!! I think the impeachment tactics employed by the Dem's is brilliant, even with em knowing Trump most likely will not be convicted. But, i strongly think the impeachment tactics will win the Dem's the Prez, and maybe the Senate.

Virginia legislature adopts Equal Rights Amendment

Post by Jim Eshelman »

I woke up this morning to new that the Russian government had resigned and Putin was rewriting their constitution. I saw The House of Representatives take the final steps for handing the articles of impeachment up to the Senate (delivered 5:37 pm) . And then, both houses of Virginia's legislature ratified the Equal Rights Amendmennt.

Wahoo! My friend Kamala Lopez and her team made this happen, from lobbying it through the last few states needed to camping in Virginia all fall to make every member of the legislature answer for their prior yea or nay votes on the subject so that a run-away Democrat dual-majority won - Virginia's first ever - committed to pass this.

Today, they did. This is enough states to fully ratify the amendment.

There are still legal battles to wage. Games have been played around the edge to try to undo this, and it's always possible we'll lose on a technicality at the Supreme Court. Or, it might all fall in place. Either way, the 38th state has now ratified the amendment and, when the legal dancing is over, this should mean that as of two years from today it is unconstitutional for the United States or any state to deny or abridge any form of equality of rights under the law on the basis of sex.

Richmond's Capsolar looks much like that for Washington, DC.

The time of the crash is being reported at 9:47 am.

LA is under a Neptune Capsolar (EP 0°26' in Calabasas). The most recent non-dormant lunar ingress was the January 10 Canlunar with Venus 0°19' from Dsc (the city's reaction?).

With Capsolar Neptune 21°35' Aquarius (on EP 21°32' Aquarius), Mars at the time of the crash was 21°08' Scorpio. This was within 2° of the CanQ Dsc (19°48' Scorpio). Worldwide, something sudden and eruptive was expected today with:

Cansolar Moon 11°02' Capricorn
Cansolar Uranus 11°21' Aries
transiting Sun 11°43' Capricorn

In LA this is more focused: The Calabasas Cansolar Asc is 13°26' Libra.

Westside LA high-rise fire

Post by Jim Eshelman »

January 29, 2020, shortly after 8:30 AM, West Los Angeles, CA

Eight people were injured (including a 3-month-old infant) from a fire on the sixth floor of a 25-story apartment building, the Barrington Plaza. (I think West LA is the best description of the location.) "At least 300 firefighters" arrived to help battle it, according to the LA Times. (Early reports that people were jumping from the building were over-stated. The real story is that two people thought about jumping.)

Fierce winds (40 mph) fanned the fire, making it difficult to extinguish, but by 10 :00 am it was out.

The coordinates of the building are 34N02'54'', 118W27'48''. At 8:30 AM, Mars (square Neptune on EP) crossed local MC. Its angles are almost identical to those of the Capsolar.

Iowa Election technical issues (2 problems)

Post by Jupiter Sets at Dawn »

Saturday February 1, 2020 @ 8:01 PM, Des Moines, IA
The Des Moines Register and CNN announced they were not publishing the results of their very highly regarded poll which has surveyed IA Democrats for 76 years in advance of the Iowa cacuses.
It appears when people taking the survey were asked to name their preferred candidate and given a list of candidates to choose from, at least one candidate (at least Pete Buttigieg) was left off the list. This appears to have affected only one surveyor who was using a computer with an enlarged font, so s/he did not see the entire list to read it off.
while it appears the problem was limited to just one surveyor, the polling company chose not to release the poll.

Then there were the Iowa caucuses last night. I'd use Des Moines as the place, the date is Monday February 3, 2020. TIme... the caucuses started at 8 PM. People were complaining about not being able to download the app meant to be used to report results. People tried to use the phone line meant to allow them to report if there were problems with the app, and ended up on hold for four hours in at least one case. And one person reported waiting 4 hours and the call was dropped.

The Iowa Democratic party announced there would be no results till sometime today (Feb 4, 2020) at about 2 AM, although it was clear there was a major glitch by 9 PM last night. This morning it appears the paper ballots haven't been sent to the Des Moines headquarters from several precincts across Iowa because nobody told the officials the ballots needed to be sent in, and most of them went off to work this morning.

Update: The app was known to be not working at 9:09 AM yesterday Feb 3 (in Des Moines).
People trying to report results via the phone line were put on hold around 9 PM yesterday, and things got worse from there.

At least they have a paper trail.

News media started blatting about should Iowa lose it's first in the nation status last night when they didn't have anything else to report on. California tried to set it's primaries before Iowa and the National Democratic party said they'd cut off funds to California if they did. So that's a possiblity.

I looked at the mundane charts for the caucuses ahead of time to see if they gave a clue to the direction and, from memory, there was mostly Uranus - some surprises, some overturns, etc. That seems reflective, though, of the technical troubles (trying something new came with surprises).

So, let's look at the charts for 9:09 PM 2/3/20 in Des Moines and see what's what.

Year: Capsolar
Pluto sq. Asc 0°52'
Saturn sq. Asc 1°07'
Moon, Jupiter, & Uranus more widely foreground
-- Saturn-Pluto conj. 0°12' in mundo
-- Moon-Jupiter sq. 0°35' in mundo
-- Mo/Ur on horizon 0°34'

Bridge
t Pluto sq. s Asc 1°30'

Month: Caplunar (Dormant.) Moon-Saturn Moon-Pluto.

Week: Arilunar
(What a chart! It's all about the data - the social confusion - and disruptive bad outcome.
Mercury on Asc 1°39'
Venus & Neptune widely foreground
-- Venus-Neptune conj. 1°47' in mundo
-- Venus sq. non-foreground Mars 0°44' in mundo
-- Neptune sq. non-foreground Mars 2°03'

Moon-Saturn sq. 0°01'
Moon-Uranus conj. 0°49' in mundo
Moon-Pluto sq. 1°37'

Day: Capsolar Quotidian & Transits
p MC conj. s Mercury 1°25'
p EP conj. s Uranus 1°12', t Uranus 0°59'
That's kinda the whole story!
----------------------------
t Pluto sq. s Asc 1°30'

Day: Cansolar Quotidian
p Asc conj. s Venus 1°56'

Indeed, the Arilunar nailed it!
