Transits to Demi-Solar Returns

Post by Jim Eshelman »

(June 28, 2013)

For a couple of months, I've been watching transits to the Demi-SSR. Transits to the full SSR are essentially as important as transits to the natal chart, but I'd never seriously looked at transits to the Demi. With the work I've been doing with solar and lunar ingresses (where all four solar cardinal ingresses are responsive to transits for an entire 12 months), it occurred to me to check transits to the Demi.

So far, I'm not impressed. So, far my conclusion is that they don't have any value.

To keep it clean and simple, I'm only watching transits to the Demi-SSR angles and Moon. These should be the strongest of the transits, and easy to recognize and distinguish from other transits.

My notes, over the last couple months, have ho-hum remarks. Basically, nothing has seemed to manifest. Sun squares my DSSR Moon? Hard to say, since I'd just come off a weekend of an annual seminar I give, always in the limelight every year when I do these, but this was the first day after it was all over. Mars square my DSSR Moon? Again, nothing at all seemed to occur (and I can always count on Mars transiting natal or SSR Moon for a quite decisive result!)

But these "nothing particular happened" occasions were put to shame last night. Transiting Sun conjoined my Demi-SSR Midheaven and squared its Ascendant. I had a minor public appearance to make, at a place where I'm always warmly received and a reasonable crowd. What happened? Nobody showed up. I mean... nobody. (OK, somebody appeared just as we were walking out the door.) It was certainly not what I would have expected from that venue (or, for that matter, any venue) with Sun transiting the MC.

As I said... we are not impressed ;)

To be fair, I haven't looked. However, transits to the ordinary SLR are not very impressive, so I wouldn't be motivated to check the Demi.
Do you look at their transits to either SLR and/or natal at all? Or just angularity?
There are some isolated cases where a transiting planet actually reaching and crossing an SLR angle has triggered the main events of the month. However, these are nearly always cases where that planet was already foreground in the SLR. They don't occur often, and they aren't reliable as triggers, so I'm inclined to think they are more or less coincidence.
