I have a huge Sagittarius stellium (7 plants, including luminaries). While I do have a fair share of Sag traits (higher and higher motif, quality conscious, self-image problems) I really don't like what you could call Sag values. I dislike tradition, conservatism, authority, and tribalism.
What could account for this? Maybe it's because my Moon is partile conjunct Neptune and Mercury partile conjunct Uranus? Do you guys have any similar feelings about your own nativity?

Angular Pluto, I'd say.
As for my own nativity: I could define about two-thirds of what's true about me from my Virgo-Aquarius luminaries.

Do I have any issues with my navitity?
No.
I think every single part of it is wonderful, necessary, vital and serves a grand purpose.
I do have issue with the negative language used to describe the lower manifestations/common tendencies of certain aspects?
Yes. But that is part of the culture I find myself in. I dont let that rule me though.....or at least...influence me for too long.

I find truth in both systems. I find truth in my tropical signs (and all the people I know well) and I find truth in calculating my angularity and looking at the aspects. What could account for this? Do you guys have any similar feelings about your own nativity?
Perhaps if you have Uranus and/or Pluto in that stellium, it changes things because that's what they do.

Sounds like you're taking the interpretation way too specifically. Sagittarius has no "values," only traits. There are plenty of liberal Sagittarians.By Jove wrote: Mon Jul 29, 2019 10:43 am While I do have a fair share of Sag traits (higher and higher motif, quality conscious, self-image problems) I really don't like what you could call Sag values. Sagittarians tend to think they have a better handle on most things and they do try to tell other people what to do because they're sure their way is the one right way, and they're only trying to help. That's what's meant by "authority." You counter that if you're trying to lead by looking behind you and see if anybody's following.
Remember when you were trying to get your mother to date and she said she was fine, thank you? That's such a Sagittarian situation.
What's wrong with tradition? You need to know how things used to be before you can change them. You don't want to repeat the past, and you will if you don't know what it was. Respect for your elders and what they went through and the ideas they came out with isn't bad and it doesn't mean you slavishly follow those ideas. It means you examine them, take what's good about them and leave the rest.
Tribalism? Depends on who's in your tribe. If you're inclusive that's a good thing. It's just mutual support and commitment to the ideals you admire in a group. If there isn't such a group, you can make one.
The police who knocked that old man down and left him to bleed, especially the guy who stopped someone else from helping? That was bad tribalism.
That man who picked up a bleeding man off stone steps and carried him to the police to get help? He was there because of tribalism, but he broke it to help someone he probably disagreed with. You can have the trait and it's not a bad thing, as long as you can expand your tribe when it's called for.
The "either it's good or it's bad" thing is very Sagittarian, but if you think about it, you don't have to define things as opposites. It's not salt or it's pepper. Sometimes it's Worcestershire sauce.

I think we often forget that planets are dishes and signs are just the plates we put them on.
Tribalism may be present in sag for sure but for a Pluto individual there will always be a disconnect.
I am firm believer that Pluto is exalted in Gemini which would directly oppose what a Sag motif btw.

Re: My Odd Relationship With My Own Sign
"tribalism," up to the 1960s and 70s meant people organized into small groups doing what was best for their group, as in "the Ogallah Sioux tribe". In the late 60s, early 70s, the meaning was changed to "nationalism" because of an essay George Orwell wrote at the end of WW2. In the 70s it was used as a more scholarly way to to call people jingoistic, especially in discussions around the Vietnam war, and the Gulf wars.
Its now understood to include the word "toxic" by younger people, although it doesn't to most people over 45 or 50.
I think the use of the word in the description of Sagittarians is problematic because it's a word undergoing change in meaning, and because it doesn't mean the same thing to different generations.
Sagittarians can be, and often are, very inclusive, but they do feel their efforts should benefit not just everybody, but their own family and friends, and they start with their own family and friends to judge whether or not a new law or whatever is a good idea good or not. As long as they don't stop with their inner circle, there's nothing wrong with that.
