I am devising a new calendar that makes more sense than the Gregorian calendar. Tell me what you guys think about each Egyptian equivalent with its respective Olympian ruler.
The calendar based somewhat on the French Republic calendar created during the French Revolution. The new year begins and ends on the Winter Solstice, when the Sun "dies" and is "reborn". I named it the Solunar calendar as a tribute to this website and Jim's work.
I got the months down, but I'm still working on the years. I'm planning to do them by astrological ages. Under current scientific calculations, Earth takes about 25,772 years to complete an axial revolution. Therefore, each age is about 2147-2148 years. Each age may give or take a few years depending since the Earth's axial rate changes somewhat with time.
My starting point is 2376 AD, Jim's prediction for the beginning of the Aquarius Age. I will work my way backwards from there. (Example: Pisces Age is about 229 AD - 2376 AD). Each age is named after the classic Olympian god of a zodiac sign - but their Egyptian counterparts, as astrology came from Egypt.
Age of Sobek (229 AD - 2376 AD).
Sobek/Sebek is the crocodile fertility god and equivalent of Neptune, which also rules Pisces.
Age of Horus (1918 BC - 229 AD)
Horus/Heru is the war god of kingship, pharoah's aid in battle, and the sky, the equivalent of Athena, the Olympian ruler of Aries, and fitting the royalty theme of Aries and the "fire signs".
Age of Hathor (4065 BC - 1918 BC)
Hathor/Huthor is the equivalent of Venus, also the ruler of Taurus, matching with the naturalism and fertility associated with Taurus.
Age of Ra (6212 BC - 4065 BC)
Ra/Re is the sun god, equivalent of Apollo, the Olympian ruler of Gemini.
Age of Thoth (8359 BC - 6212 BC)
Thoth/Dehuti is the Egyptian equivalent of Mercury, the Olympian ruler of Cancer.
Age of Amun (10506 BC - 8359 BC)
Amun/Amen is the Egyptian equivalent of Zeus, the Olympian ruler of Leo.
Age of Neper (12653 BC - 10506 BC)
Neper/Nepri is the god of grains, the equivalent of Ceres, the Olympian ruler of Virgo.
Age of Ptah (14800 BC - 12653 BC)
Ptah/Pitah is the smith god of craftsmen and architects, the equivalent of Vulcan, also fitting the aesthetic aspects of Venus, the ruler of Libra.
Age of Sekhmet (16947 BC - 14800 BC)
Sekhmet/Sekhet is the war goddess of vengeance, pestilence, pharoah's aid in battle, and pyschopomp of pharoah's soul, the equivalent of Ares, and fitting the bloodshed theme of Mars, the ruler of Scorpio.
Age of Neith (19094 BC - 16947 BC)
Neith/Net is the goddess of hunting, weaving, and war, the equivalent of Diana, Olympian ruler of Sagittarius.
Age of Anuket (21241 BC - 19094 BC)
Anuket/Anaka is the goddess the Nile catarects and lower Nubia, the equivalent of Vesta, the Olympian ruler of Capricorn.
Age of Amunet (23388 BC - 21241 BC)
Amunet/Imonet is the consort of Amun-Re and the equivalent of Jupiter's wife, Juno, the Olympian ruler of Aquarius.
And so the cycle repeats, whether regressing before 23388 BC or progressing after 2376 AD. Two broad "optional" ages also exist as convenience.
Age of Nu (INF - 23388 BC)
Nu/Nunet is the god of the primordial watery abyss that existed before creation, therefore representing "prehistory". Like with Before Christ, Age of Nu goes backwards.
Age of Atum (2376 AD - INF)
Atum/Tem is the primordial creator god, his name meaning "to complete" or "to finish", therefore representing the ongoing future constantly being created. Like with Anno Domini, Age of Atum goes forwards.

The Pisces age began in 221, not 229. Each of these can be calculated mathematically. In fact, rather than count the whole 25,000+ cycle, why not name each segment ("Grand Month"?) after the age, e.g., 2021 AD (technically from the vernal equinox) would be "Pisces 1800" (1,800 years since the start of the Pisces Age)?

Now for the months and days.
Winter – at solstice
Erwinter (Wi I) – Snowmonth/Nivôse – 31 days (Dec 22 – Jan 21)
Midwinter (Wi II) – Rainmonth/Pluviôse – 30 days (Jan 22 – Feb 21)
Latewinter (Wi III) – Galemonth/Ventôse – 30/31 days (Feb 22 – Mar 21/22)* (for leap years)
Spring – at equinox
Erspring (Sp I) – Greenmonth/Germinal – 31 days (Mar 23 – Apr 22)
Midspring (Sp II, Sim, 2II, 5) – Floremonth/Floréal – 30 days (Apr 23 – May 22)
Latespring (Sp III) – Leamonth/Prairial – 30 days (May 23 – Jun 21)
Summer – at solstice
Ersummer (Su I) – Reapmonth/Messidor – 31 days (Jun 22 – July 22)
Midsummer (Su II) – Blazemonth/Thermidor – 30 days (Jul 23 – Aug 21)
Latesummer (Su III) – Fruitmonth/Fructidor – 31 days (Aug 22 – Sep 21)
Fall – at equinox
Erfall (Fa I, Far, 4I, 10) – Winemonth/Vendémiaire – 31 days (Sep 22 – Oct 22)
Midfall (Fa II) – Hazemonth/Brumaire – 30 days (Oct 23 – Nov 21)
Latefall (Fa III) – Frostmonth/Frimaire – 30 days (Nov 22 – Dec 21)
*Pretending February has 30 days, redistributing the "extra" days from May and October “back” to February. That way, there will be six 31-day months during leap year, five 31-day months during the other years.

Ah, you wrote this while I was typing the other post. That could work too, where we calculate the exact year an astrological age began. Sadly, I do not have the astrological expertise to make such fine calculations.Jim Eshelman wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 10:52 am The Pisces age began in 221, not 229. Following your example:

Re: Constellations as Egyptian Gods (for Solunar calendar)
I also thought of alternative times of day, just like our day but divided into four quatrants:
midnight hour (12am - 6am) - the "winter" of the day.
dawning hour (6am - 12 pm) - the "spring" of the day.
noontide hour (12pm - 6 pm) - the "summer" of the day.
evening hour (6pm - 12am) - the "fall" of the day.
Examples:
1:14 a.m. = 1:14 m.h.
11:03 a.m. = 5:03 d.h.
12:26 p.m. = 0:26 n.h.
7:58 p.m. = 1:58 e.h.

Re: Constellations as Egyptian Gods (for Solunar calendar)
Also, Jim would you mind telling me the exact starting year for the Age of Aries and Age of Taurus. I don't need the precise dates of other ages for now. I would do it myself, but I don't know how to calculate.
