I'm starting this thread for people to record examples of comparing the PSSR calculated by the mean or apparent solar rate, for events already occurred.
Maybe we should take more than flitting discussion of this to another thread, so that this is a cleaner presentation of examples, and easier to read for research purposes.

Re: PSSR - Mean or Apparent rate?
Abraham Lincoln was born February 12, 1809, in Hodgenville, KY at "sunup," which (visual breaking the horizon) was 6:54 AM. He died April 15, 1865, 7:22 AM LMT, Washington, DC, after having been shot the night before. Here are the relevant factors in his PSSR calculated both ways (anything within 2° of any of the angles).
11°23' Virgo PSSR Asc (Apparent)
11°58' Gemini PSSR MC (Apparent)
12°52' Virgo PSSR EP (Apparent)
13°37' Pis s Neptune
14°58' Virgo PSSR Asc (Mean)
15°16' Gem t Mars
15°23' Pis r Venus
15°49' Pis t Neptune
16°03' Gemini PSSR MC (Mean)
17°23' Pis s Venus
17°36' Pis p Venus
17°42' Virgo PSSR EP (Mean)
The apparent rate has within 1° of angles s Neptune (0°45' from WP).
The mean rate has within 1° of angles t Mars (0°18' from sq Asc), r Venus (0°25' from Dsc), t Neptune (0°14' from sq. MC), with Mars-Neptune square 0°33' and splitting on r Venus; and s Venus 0°19' from WP.
The apparent rate has within 2° of angles s Neptune as before.
The mean rate has within 2° of angles s Neptune (1°21' from Dsc), plus the t Mars-Mars and natal and solar Venuses as before.
11°23' Virgo PSSR Asc (Apparent)
11°58' Gemini PSSR MC (Apparent)
12°52' Virgo PSSR EP (Apparent)
13°37' Pis s Neptune
14°58' Virgo PSSR Asc (Mean)
15°16' Gem t Mars
15°23' Pis r Venus
15°49' Pis t Neptune
16°03' Gemini PSSR MC (Mean)

John Lennon was born October 9, 1940, 6:30 PM, Liverpool, England. He was murdered December 8, 1980, 10:50 PM EST, New York, NY. Here are the relevant PSSR factors.
17°34' Gem PSSR EP (mean)
18°35' Sag t Mars
18°55' Gem PSSR EP (apparent)
19°45' Pis PSSR MC (mean)
21°19' Pis PSSR MC (apparent)
22°21' Vir r Sun
4°12' Lib p Moon
4°59' Can PSSR Asc (mean)
6°09' Can PSSR Asc (apparent)
This one is indecisive. Transiting Mars is on the WP of one or the other versions. Mrs' RA is 284°18. That of the Apparent Rate WP is 284°32', and of the Mean Rate WP 283°05'. Both are in orb, the Apparent is closer. The apparent rate also brings his Sun right to IC.

James Forrestal was born February 15, 1892, 2:30 PM EST, Beacon, NY. He leapt to this death May 22, 1949, 1:45 AM EDT, Bethesda, MD.
5°40' Leo t Saturn
6°46' Tau t Sun
7°43' Aqu PSSR MC (apparent)
9°12' Leo s Saturn
9°40' Aqu s Mars
11°38' Tau PSSR EP (apparent)
13°01' Tau r Neptune
13°37' Aqu PSSR MC (mean)
13°39' Tau r Pluto
16°05' Tau t Venus
16°53' Tau PSSR EP (mean)
0°39' Gem PSSR Asc (apparent)
2°36' Gem s Uranus
4°53' Gem t Uranud
5°44' Vir r Saturn
5°51' Gem PSSR Asc (mean)
6°52' Vir r Moon
This is quite complex, so I'll show it this way: First, the Apparent rate angles and contacts.
6°46' Tau t Sun
7°43' Aqu PSSR MC (apparent)
9°12' Leo s Saturn
9°40' Aqu s Mars
11°38' Tau PSSR EP (apparent)
13°01' Tau r Neptune
13°39' Tau r Pluto
-----------------------------
0°39' Gem PSSR Asc (apparent)

These are fiercely malignant overall, though the worst of it is all more than 1° from the angles.
Next, the Mean rate angles and contacts:

---------------------------------
4°53' Gem t Uranus
5°44' Vir r Saturn
5°51' Gem PSSR Asc (mean]
6°52' Vir r Moon
This misses the obvious Mars-Saturn contact, but has other equally appropriate (at least) contacts, and much closer. (All of them are partile.)

7°43' Aqu PSSR MC (apparent)

Re: PSSR - Mean or Apparent rate?
My chart for a significant revelation December 9, 1987, 5:15 PM, Santa Ana, CA.
28°55' Sag r Mars
29°09' Sag PSSR MC (mean)
0°44' Cap PSSR MC (apparent)
1°09' Ari s Jupiter
1°20' Lib r Neptune
2°59' Ari PSSR EP (mean)
3°20' Can r Uranus
3°37' Can r Jupiter
4°45' Ari PSSR EP (apparent)
12°59' Ari PSSR Asc (mean)
14°25' Lib s Pluto
14°57' Lib r Saturn
15°14' Ari PSSR Asc (apparent)
15°37' Can t Moon
15°51' Lib t Mars
16°46' Lib t Pluto
16°48' Lib s Mercury
Again, there is so much happening, I'll sort it out with two visuals. First, the Apparent:
28°55' Sag r Mars
0°44' Cap PSSR MC (apparent)
1°09' Ari s Jupiter
1°20' Lib r Neptune
-------------------------
14°25' Lib s Pluto
14°57' Lib r Saturn
15°14' Ari PSSR Asc (apparent)
15°37' Can t Moon
15°51' Lib t Mars
16°46' Lib t Pluto
16°48' Lib s Mercury
Precision is good, and there is plenty happening. Arguably, this could describe the event, though I'd have preferred the Mercury-Pluto transit had been in the tighter orb. The Jupiter-Neptune transit square MC is quite good. The Saturn-Pluto is quite questionable, unless it is merely "impact" on the sense of "a blow."
Now for the Mean:
28°55' Sag r Mars
29°09' Sag PSSR MC (mean)
1°09' Ari s Jupiter
1°20' Lib r Neptune
2°59' Ari PSSR EP (mean)
3°20' Can r Uranus
3°37' Can r Jupiter
12°59' Ari PSSR Asc (mean)
14°25' Lib s Pluto
14°57' Lib r Saturn
This keeps the Jupiter-Neptune but weaker, makes Mars stronger and the Saturn-Pluto weaker, and introduces natal Jupiter-Uranus, which is quite appropriate.
I was there, and I have a hard time telling these apart. I slightly favor the second, with natal Jupiter-Uranus and a weakened Saturn-Pluto, though I miss the Mercury-Pluto.

Re: PSSR - Mean or Apparent rate?
This post is mostly about PSSR Moon, not the angles. But let's take care of the angles first.
At or immediately after 9:30 AM today (2/22/21), the Supreme Court refused to block a NY grand jury from getting Donald Trump's tax returns. Trump is living in Palm Beach, FL and I imagine that's where he was but the PSSR angles were better for Washington, where the action occurred. Here are the comparative angles with 1° maximum orbs.
Midheaven:
19°43' Aqu (Palm Beach: mean)
22°57' Aqu (Washington: mean)
-- 23°54' Tau - r Uranus
24°07' Aqu (Palm Beach: apparent)
-- 24°59' Aqu - t Neptune
-- 26°33' Aqu - s Mars
-- 27°13' Sco - r Moon
27°23' Aqu (Washington: apparent)
Ascendant:
3°38' Gem (Palm Beach: mean)
7°22' Gem (Palm Beach: apparent)
13°22' Gem (Washington: mean)
-- 13°22' Pis - s Moon
16°53' Gem (Washington: apparent)
This time it looks like the apparent rate is better - that's not what I've been seeing most of the time, but it's pretty clear here (unless the real "shoe drop" is in about two days). Trump's SSR has a partile Mars-Neptune conjunction with Mars within 1° of square his Moon. That Mars was on the apparent rate PSSR over Washington, DC this morning when the gavel was slammed down on his fingers.
Anyway, it's not the PSSR angles that interest me this morning - it's PSSR Moon. I'm starting to doubt that planets also progress by PSSR rate. For half a century, it has been routine for Siderealists to think that there are two progressed Moons in the SSR, one of them moving about 25% faster than the other. Matthew Quellas and I used to scrutinize the two different time periods looking for any contrast between these two - perhaps one setting up the other, or simply two separate, independent "hits," etc.
For a while, I've been wondering if those PSSR Moon progressions are actually there. My current SSR has given me an unusual chance to watch lunar progressions minutely and while, thankfully, none of them have been as strong as I thought they might be, the SQ aspects at least manifest in actual moods and conditions matching the planet aspected. The PSSR Moon has not done that this year.
I'm bringing it up today because - with this very serious blow to Donald Trump this morning - his PSSR Moon was 23°40' Pisces opposite his stationary natal Jupiter at 23°28' Virgo. This was not a lucky week for him.
One might say Jupiter is "court or legal matters." I'd buy that if it were simultaneously afflicted, which it isn't. His Jupiter (stationary and exactly trine Uranus at birth) has given him phenomenal luck his whole life. Not this morning, though.
So, I record this as one example of what I've been seeing: Maybe PSSR planets don't progress. Maybe it's just an additional way of progressing angles in an uninterrupted flow from birth through the rest of the life.
PS - SQ Moon opposes his Jupiter April 20. He still may get a lucky break on this or another matter that stands out for the two months centered on that date.
