Steve's Neptune at A/M midpoint
Steve's Neptune at A/M midpoint
Thanks Jim and Oddon for your insights. Yes Jim, I have long used Solarfire's Midpoint Tree Report to indentfy Direct Midpoints for a Natal, but did not realize you could do the other midpoint functions on the face of a chart---a neat function.
When I came to the realization that Neptune occupied my ASC/MC, it immediately explained to me why my Career had so much to do with the commercial Theater Business and making my main living in life going to Film/Movie Screenings in order to contract movies for the Company which employed me, and later in my life as an Independent Theater Owner. I was a natural for this Career position . And then when I learned about Solar Arcs, I realized that most natives in a lifetime will experience a Solar Arc Direction of their MC's to the ASC/MC. My ASC/MC is very unique to me and my life because it = my Neptune. As I have stated before: When my Solar Arc MC came within partile conjunct orb to my r Neptune was the year I became an Independent Theater Owner--fulfilling my lifelong Dream.
Jim, after your points made with this thread for what one can do with Solarfire displaying midpoints on a Natal Chart, my mind was flooded with other insights relative to my life. Once in my life I sat down with a high grade psychic who knew absolutely nothing about astrology. As an experiment I asked her what the 11th House in Astrology meant to her with her special sight as a psychic. She said: It has a-lot to do with how a native makes their income. So many Natives ask astrologers what Careers would be good for em. The Hamburg School of astrologers research with ASC/MC indicated it had special influences with Careers. For most Natives their ASC/MC will fall in their 11th H. It could be a detailed analysis of the ASC/MC with other midpoints and natal chart factors could provide astrological info for helping in choosing better Careers. Just an afterthought after pondering this thread relative to my experiences in my life.

Re: Steve's Neptune at A/M midpoint
I think I never mentioned this.... I've tended to think of your life-love career in theater management was connected to your rising Jupiter. Even ignoring the huge number of actors, Jupiter angular clearly relates to entertainment in general, as shown by the number of people in film making, theatrical performance, music, and more. (In mundane astrology, for example of fires, Jupiter added to the foreground tends to mark events happening in entertainment venues, especially theater fires.) And, of course, Jupiter angular is consistent with those professionally employed in administrative management. (Solar Arc MC hit your Neptune just as d Mercury conjoined your Jupiter and directed Asc squared your Venus.)SteveS wrote: Tue Nov 16, 2021 3:20 am When I came to the realization that Neptune occupied my ASC/MC, it immediately explained to me why my Career had so much to do with the commercial Theater Business and making my main living in life going to Film/Movie Screenings in order to contract movies for the Company which employed me, and later in my life as an Independent Theater Owner... I do remain skeptical that something always falls in the background - often at the weakest parts of a quadrant - could have as angular an effect as you mention. In my own chart, it would be tempting to count several things I don't think actually exist, such as Mercury semi-square Asc 0°01' (aspects to angles don't exist, per the bulk of evidence) or Mercury 0°17' from A/M midpoint; but neither of those matches my obvious Mercury traits which, in any case, are easily explained simply by my Virgo Sun. In your case, though, I can see why you'd search for a stronger Neptune representation since, as a Virgo, you're otherwise fundamentally anti-Neptune and Neptune is background. But you do have your partile Moon-Neptune sextile regardless... and there's always your rising Jupiter.

Re: Steve's Neptune at A/M midpoint
My posts are playing musical chairs, so I'll ask this here... wait til the music stops and go look for your answer.
Steve, with your Neptune, it has/d landed you in the movie theater business.
My question is... do you see the movie theater business as mainly the end effect of this aspect, or was that potentially merely a step in a longer process? I guess what I'm trying to ask is, post movie theater business, how do you feel/see Neptune as further influencing you? [if Neptune led you to your life's calling career-wise, it must be strong...it likely didn't just quit, once you got into the "movie theater business."]
The reason I ask, is Neptune is often some spiritual (not religious!) push, some thrust back to one's ideals for why they think they're here in the first place. Since you see Neptune as extremely important in your life, I'm essentially asking in what other ways you might see Neptune's hand in your life... (to the extent you'd care to share)
I have a grand trine with Sun-Jupiter-Neptune and since some see Neptune more as a malefic, due to "real-life" (ie. personally mundane) things that go askew under its influence; I am always curious as to how others see its influence in their lives. If someone has ego problems, for instance, Neptune has a way of coming in and pulling just enough rug out from under them to bring things more into balance. In this sense, I wouldn't call it malefic, though it's very often inconvenient.

Re: Steve's Neptune at A/M midpoint
All I know is this: The Hamburg School of astrology associated the A/M with Careers (how to make income). When it comes to my Career only two main Solar Arcs in my entire life has defined clearly my Career status in the Film/Movie Business. One of these two Solar Arcs was when MC directed to my r Neptune/A/M. Relative to my Career life, there is no doubt Neptune holding my A/M has much to do with my Career in the Film/Movie Business, regardless of how an astrologer wants to interpert Neptune for a Nativity. In my Nativity Neptune mainly symbolizes my Carreer (A/M) in the Flim (Neptune) Business.
Oddon, even though I am no longer directly in the Theater Business as a Career, a week doesn't go by that I don't have long discussions with a former colleague who is part owner of a Theater, we both love the Business. And yes Oddon, I had to put-up with the malefic effects of Neptune in my Career, but my sheer love for the Business always won out over those malefic effects. Neptune also has much to do about speculation of all kinds. I spent a better part of a lifetime speculating on which movie would do the most business with a limited # of movie screens to show all the movies. In the movie business Neptune acts as a great benefic as an "escape" value for people, a movie is a benefic illusion (film) for the people to escape the rigors of everyday life....

A Sun-Jupiter-Neptune trine would make for a well-aspected Neptune, so it wouldn't be felt as malefic, though, right?ODdOnLifeItself wrote: Tue Nov 16, 2021 10:48 pm I have a grand trine with Sun-Jupiter-Neptune and since some see Neptune more as a malefic, due to "real-life" (ie. personally mundane) things that go askew under its influence;

Re: "A Sun-Jupiter-Neptune trine would make for a well-aspected Neptune, so it wouldn't be felt as malefic, though, right?"
Yes, but I wasn't just speaking from my own chart, but rather in general.
And, even with the Sun-Jupiter-Neptune, there have been Neptunian missteps. (the missteps, I attribute to Saturn square Neptune and to a pesky Mars-Neptune quindecile. Yes, I said quindecile, but that's a topic for a future experimental post. )
The "over-concept" that was touched upon was that things that mess with real-life circumstances (and seen as malefic) might actually be a strong positive, when viewed only from a spiritual sense. ie. if you're planning a successfully organized meeting, Neptune might wreak havoc with your clarity and ability to convey information...on the other hand, it might inspire imagination or lead you to something spiritual that is virtually invisible in the "real world."

Re: Steve's Neptune at A/M midpoint
Thank you for your well-reasoned response, Steve.
You have shown that it is still "alive and well" in your life, in terms of Neptunian influence.
Re: Asc/MC midpoint
For me, the only "body" directly contacting that point tightly is Cupido, a TNP.
*IF* we assume there's something to be read from that, it would be that my personal direction / career would relate to things associated with Cupido; namely, "Family. Sociability. Societies. Associations. Collections. Art."
Family is the absolute most important thing in life to me and I've always been a collector (whether obscure beer cans as a kid, music all my life, or musical instruments)...
Admittedly it's not so dramatic as your example, but I can see a certain relevance. On the other hand, I've been an ice packer, a computer programmer for 3d rendering, a manager at the postal service, astrologer, and all around IT specialist...and I see nothing from Cupido that really touches on that.
On the other hand, Asc/MC = Jupiter/Poseidon (forgive me, lol), which would hint at "Wisdom. Intelligence. Reason. Right. Common sense. Instinct. Insight. Intelligence. Wisdom. Conscience. Mental happiness. Justice. Understanding, wisdom and reason" and at every job I've had, I've had to quickly become the "answer grape." (the person that knows the answer, when no one else seems to)
Thanks for the inspiring thoughts... best part of a forum.

Oddon, I can tell you have been awe inspired by the systems of astrology you have learned in your life and are trying to share these on this forum. I came to this forum to learn the forces of Nature which could awe inspire my soul, and can appriciate where you are coming from. I may never come to the same understanding you have with your practice of astrology but thanks for sharring your practice of astrology. Thanks for the inspiring thoughts... best part of a forum.

Re: Steve's Neptune at A/M midpoint
Thank you, Steve that was nicely worded.
Jim has shown a scientific approach to astrology (the spirit of "let's simply try it and see and then we'll dump the failures in the astrological dustbin"), so it seems a natural to fly some non-mainstream ideas by, that have served me well...and might end up being important for someone.
Since you mentioned your foray into astrology, I hope you won't mind my doing so as well... I'll try to be brief, though not so confident I will succeed.
In the beginning, I was a mathematician. I have a first place state award (Illinois) in mathematics and had the second highest score nationally. This is not a brag, it's to show where my head was at at the time astrology found me. I thought the whole thing with astrology was so far-fetched it needed a strong counter-voice THAT HAD ACTUALLY STUDIED IT AND COULD TALK ON A LEVEL WITH WORKING ASTROLOGERS. The problem is... I had a few "miracle moments" that showed me that my original thesis was in strong need of modification. Specifically, the first instance was when I read for a woman about her daughter, whom I had never met. I told the woman that I saw something in her chart that suggested some "slowness of mind, somehow connected to her heart." I was as surprised to hear the words coming out of my mouth as she was. When she looked shocked, I tried to backpeddle... "I am new at this, I'm just studying, don't take it too seriously...." but she said, "no, James, you don't understand...when Rachel was born, the umbilicus wrapped around her neck and she went into cardiac arrest and because of the duration of oxygen deprivation, she was born retarded." Afterwards, I went home and sat for the longest time on my bed, trying to calculate the odds that I randomly would have come up with something so specific. Needless to say, this had caused a complete change of opinion as well as a completely different approach to astrology and what I wanted to do with it. From this point on, around 1989, I started using my pay every two weeks to buy two books at the Rainbow Moods bookstore in Tucson and would read through them and work through the examples. This went on for YEARS. I stumbled across many different methods from Morin to Ebertin to Tyl and tried to basically test them all and see what gave back a high "reliability vs. noise" ratio... In the meantime, I take on interesting projects, whether co-chairing psychological seminars from counselors who want to give their clients an inside look into WHY...or (over a couple of years) quarterly reading for up to 23 people in a day (@ 20 mins per) at The Readery (English-language bookstore) here in Munich. Talk about being in the hotseat... sitting across from a new stranger every 20 mins and _leading_ a conversation about what needs to be discussed about THEIR LIVES. I gained quite a few clients through this, but more importantly, I turned a lot of people on to astrology and proudly so.
To me, astrology is endlessly AWE-INSPIRING...there's no better phrase that I can think of to describe it.
Though our collective approaches are often vastly different, we are all connected somewhat by that spirit of wanting to know more using the "science of the stars" and wanting to use this (hopefully) to help people understand themselves better and make decisions born out of will and not out of automatic, reactive psychology.

Re: Steve's Neptune at A/M midpoint
Yes, I am...but I grew up in a way (due to various factors) where making money has generally not even been in my Top 10 list of priorities, so I haven't really done ANY studies of markets and particular cycles relating to financial speculation and commodities-pricing. Since I haven't really done any studies myself, I'm afraid I won't likely have anything of substance to add (at least initially), since I only feel confident about things I personally have tested.
However, I am OPEN to everything, so am curious what specifically you mean... Could you inform me as to why you're asking me, relative to W.D. Gann?

Re: Steve's Neptune at A/M midpoint
Oddon asked:
With my intense studies of the Gann material I know for a fact certain markets are making major tops to exact dates (Gann's Sun Dates) calculated from a zero point-- the Vernal Equinox. What I don't know is how to determine during a given year from its Vernal Equinox WHICH Sun Dates will have higher probability for making a major top to the exact day of a Gann Sun Date. Since your astrology work involves exact or within seconds of time for radical times, and we can calculate the exact time of a Vernal Equinox and the exact time for all of the Gann Sun Dates for any given location (major market exchanges), I thought it could be an interesting test for your sysyem of astrology, AH & TPDs. But, since I don't completely understand all the math/geometry going on with your system of astrology, it may not be a practical test to conduct. But at this late time in my life, this test is no big deal for me, only a curiosty with your system of astrology you have brought to the forum.Could you inform me as to why you're asking me, relative to W.D. Gann?
