In a recent discussion in the Swiss Ephemeris mailing list regarding usage of the Fagan/Bradley sidereal zodiac someone mentioned James Hynes' SVP tables.
I would like to have a look at these, to work out what Hynes exactly computed. Where can they be found?
If it is a lengthy document, a few pages will probably be sufficient. Please email me at alois@astro.com if possible.

Re: James Hynes SVP tables
I'm 99% sure this is what's in the Primer. The usual tables for getting a mean value and then a mutation table. Going from memory, something like a dozen pages.

Thank you. I have the Primer of Sidereal Astrology.
So this would be pages 142 and 143, in there

Re: James Hynes SVP tables
Counting the few pages explaining the use of the tables, these cover pp. 135-146 of the AFA edition. I read fast and didn't actually see Hynes' name anywhere, though I thought I'd seen it in the past. (I'm racing out the door and don't have time to read slowly.) Perhaps someone else can confirm my memory.

Fagan mentions Hynes in the preface to the 3rd edition:
| We are grateful to James Hynes of Dublin for permission to publish some of his excellent tables.

Hynes also published published the SVP tables in a separate book with instructions and two worked examples. One calculation of the SVP for a given date, and one calculation of the date which the SVP would reach a given longitude: SVP 0Aq0'0" on 4 July 2376 CE. Hynes was probably the first to calculate this date. I used the SVP tables for every horoscope I cast until the American Sidereal Ephemeris came out.

Re: James Hynes SVP tables
I completely forgot about that Hynes-generated stand-alone book that ROSA published in the mid-'70s. I had a copy as it came off the press but I probably never used it for anything, just read through it once and tossed it on a shelf.
What I used before I had a Sidereal ephemeris was the Garth Allen SVP table Carl Stahl published. Stahl was a real gift to Sidereal astrology, publishing many of the resources needed including hand-calculating, typing, and publishing his ground-breaking Sidereal ephemeris during the 1960s until Omega took over the task of doing this annually with a computer. My thin, orange-covered SVP ephemeris was one of my most precious possessions,
I see that somebody has kept it still in print in an inexpensive edition - which today is more of a curio - even though they entirely screwed up the authorship.

Re: James Hynes SVP tables
Stahl Allen? So Carl Stahl's last name had an illicit affair with Donald Bradley's pseudonym and they produced an illegitimate child ?

According to the Amazon ad, said child's name was Carl Garth Allen.
Ah, but talk about a "love child" - just imagine what acts of love it took to produce all that foundation material. The SVP ephemeris alone is a huge task - and then Stahl calculated a Sidereal ephemeris from the equatorial coordinates in the Nautical Almanac, inventing new resources like the SSRY - truly a work of love. I probably don't praise Stahl's memory often enough.

Indeed Stahl is one of Sidereal astrology's mostly unsung heroes.
