The entire nation of Syria lost power yesterday. Power has sucked there for years, but this probably is a first of its kind since electricity was a routine in modern life: an entire country went black at once.

Though all sorts of trouble can be expected to show for Syria overall, even the broadbrush 2015 Cansolar is consistent with something electrical. Uranus rises as part of interlaced Mercury-Uranus and Mars-Pluto squares. There are plenty of useful keywords in these planets and combinations, such as electricity (Uranus), power (Mars), communication (Mercury), and unprecedented (Pluto).

Speaking of unprecedented, the Liblunar has Pluto less than 2° from Ascendant.

Daily charts don't really show anything except the CanQ Midheaven, strangely placed between Venus and Jupiter (but not quite in orb of either), is in orb of square ingress Saturn. It gets closer today, but then also gets closer to Venus (meaning that the Venus-Saturn square is emphasized). You may need to take a look for yourself to get the right balance of how things are showing, but, in simple terms, yeah we had Saturn the only planet on a Q angle for the day.

I am happy to say that, besides a couple ugly shootings that made national news, the primary effect of the worst lunar ingress in the first half of 2016 is a figurative war.

After Romney's speech yesterday (backed by McCain) taking on Trump directly, the news media has begun calling this The Republican Civil War. It began March 3, 2016, 11:30 AM, in Salt Lake City, UT with Mercury on MC, Mars on WP, and Saturn near Dsc.

Examining this for Washington, DC, as a national event, the main marks are all of the ongoing ingresses with which we're familiar, including the Canlunar persisting for two weeks that has Mars and Saturn exactly on angles.

For more daily timing, transiting Pluto is 16' from Capsolar MC. Transiting Jupiter is 20' from Cansolar MC.

Was there anything anchoring the event to Salt Lake City besides Mitt? Saturn is on Caplunar WP. Most eloquent, though, is the Liblunar which showed leadership chaos & confusion with:

Blast from the Past:
Ongoing press conference in LA. An officer retired, and turned in a knife he claimed he was given by a construction worker who was part of the crew tearing down the house OJ Simpson lived in (the Rockingham Estate) when his wife was murdered. The claim is the officer was off-duty working on a movie shoot when it was given to him.

The piece of Malaysian Flight 370 was also a blast from the past.

Yes, saw it this morning. I suspect it's the murder knife, and this will be linked to OJ.

Now, it doesn't affect the criminal case because of double jeopardy. And a jury already found against OJ in the civil trial, so there's nothing else to land on him. But I sit less than 10 yards from the celebrity attorney who won the civil case against OJ for the Goldman family, and I just told his assistant about this because (presuming this is proven to be the murder weapon), the attorney will now be on another 10 magazine covers and five TV spots (or whatever) - so we better find a nice spot in our remodeled offices for the film crews

Will wonders never cease? In the aftermath of Justice Scalia's death (and under a Uranus-Pluto Caplunar), two important SCOTUS decisions have come down that were not a 4-4 split but, rather, 7-1 (on a Louisiana abortion law) and 8-0 (on an Alabama Supreme Court decision disallowing recognition of a gay adoption in another state). Both decisions came down on the liberal side.

Donald Trump's Chicago rally was cancelled Friday night (3/11) after violent encounters and in anticipation of further violence.

Chicago's CAPSOLAR has Moon sq. MC (0°48') and rising (1°23'), Pluto sq. Asc (1°19'), and Uranus rising (1°39'), so there is a populist, radicalized tone to the city (already demonstrated this year in terms of populist uprisings against the mayor's administration over police misbehavior). Mo/Ur is 0°08' from Asc also, and Uranus squares Pluto.

Chicago's CAPLUNAR has Asc 22°34' Scorpio, concentrating a Sun-Jupiter-Saturn T-square. Saturn rises (2°36'), Sun squares Asc widely (2°22'), Jupiter squares it closely (1°11'). We have Sun-Saturn and Jupiter-Saturn aspects, but Sun-Jupiter remains outside our usual orb for aspects in ingresses.

the Arilunar repeats some of this with Saturn on MC (1°52') and Jupiter sq. MC (0°39'). They are square (1°40'). Peace was probably maintained by the rising Venus, but here is the whole breakdown of a basically ugly chart:

A carload of explosives went off in Ankara last night killing at least 34 people and wounding 125 others. Regrettably, this is "the next in a series" of such Ankaran explosions.

I don't have a time, so I'm using 7 PM as an estimate.

The CAPLUNAR has Mars setting (1°36'), Mercury square Asc (0°45'), and Mercury square Mars. Mars is the foremost planet involved in bombings, Mercury refers to the car, and Mercury-Mars together are the signature of formal acts of war and the strategic implementation necessary for them. Oh, and Moon squares explosive Uranus (0°59' in mundo).

The ARILUNAR has Uranus on MC (1°05'), Pluto square MC (0°57'), and Uranus square Pluto (1°41'). Moon is more widely foreground (9°).

With no daily timing from the CapQ, the CanQ has progressed MC square Mars < 2°. In the Cansolar itself, transiting Pluto squares Ascendant (0°47').

Sunday, March 13, 1016 @ 4:00 PM Interstate 40/85 in Alamance County, NC, between exits 147 to 153, closest town (apparently) Mebane, NC.
After a five car pileup at 4:00 PM there were 134 vehicles involved in accidents, mostly rear-end collisions, on both sides of this stretch of highway. Accidents occurred up to 10PM.

Nobody killed, but NC troopers and ambulance crews were called in from three surrounding counties.

President Obama lifted a large number of Cuba sanctions yesterday, in anticipation of his upcoming "victory lap" trip to Havana.

For Washington, the message is elegant: The Arilunar currently has a Sun-Jupiter opposition across the horizon, and Washington's CapQ yesterday had a Mercury-Jupiter opposition along the meridian. See these as:

-- "It's all good, man!"
-- "Diplomatic achievement."
-- "It's good for business, too!"

In Havana, the Arilunar also has the Sun-Jupiter, but also has Saturn square Ascendant. The CapQ had Neptune on MC, and is moving up to Saturn today and tomorrow. So, the meaning is different in Cuba than it is here: These sanction lifts weren't done for Cuba's advantage, but for ours.

Torrential rains - 20 inches in 72hours - have led to deadly flooding in Louisiana, especially around Pearl River, LA. The astrological focus seems not focused upon the rainfall itself, but on the flooding and death. (But the rain shows, too.)

The March 11 Arilunar has Saturn at MC square Neptune rising (both about 2° from the angle, in partile mundane square). Venus and Jupiter are also (widely) foreground for the rain.

At 11:00 AM EDT today, Pres. Obama will announce his nomination to the Supreme Court. As Saturn sets at 11:19 AM(and Mars at 10:29), we can expect that this will, in fact, be a doomed venture from the point of view of the nomination itself. (I hope that's not so, of course. It would be nice if they got a late start and the Jupiter-Mercury opposition fell on Zenith-Nadir, but the White House / media collaborations tend to be much more efficient than that.)

At least the Arilunar is optimistic and speaks to matters both presidential and judicial: Sun opposes Jupiter across the horizon, as the dominant message of the week. (Mundanely, their opposition is only 17' wide, and is less than 2° from the angles.) Mercury conjoins Neptune in the wider foreground, the Mercury bleeding somewhat into Sun-Jupiter.

Ah, we do still get a Mercury-Jupiter opposition along the CapQ meridian. This may just be the nomination announcement, of course. Jupiter and Mercury are both within the 2° orb, and their midpoint at 11:00 AM is 23°30' Leo-Aquarius against a 23°00' Aquarius CapQ MC.

The big mundane focus of the time, though, is transiting Pluto 0°01' from Capsolar MC. Uranus remains within 1° of Capsolar EP. The rev olution continues! Jupiter, currently 1°20' from Cansolar MC still holds a dignified light on the capital, but it's retrograding away as fast as Marco Rubio's political future; while transiting Mars is only 0°04' from Cansolar Ascendant at 11:00 AM (and transiting Mercury is just off the IC, co-angular with Mars).

So let's stir some acrimony!

All in all, it's about what we'd expect.

Under the current Sun-Jupiter Arilunar, the market has been in a very good mood.

The effect actually goes back longer - the rise has been from the bottom about February 11. But it's been particularly sharp under the current Arilunar.

Salah Abdeslam, a terrorist who survived the attacks in Paris last November has been caught in Molenbeek, (Brussels suburb) Belgium. There was a raid starting about 5:30 PM Belgium time, and it was announced on Twitter at 5:45 Abdeslam had been wounded and caught.
His brother, who blew himself up during the attacks in November, was buried yesterday in Brussels.

Last week's Cuba announcements were under a Sun-Jupiter Arilunar, and had the tokens of success - at least for how it showed in the U.S.

This week's Cuba Victory Lap party is more complicated. See the new Canlunar. There is still plenty of Jupiter, and especially in collaboration with Mercury, but almost equal involvement of Saturn. The Jupiter-Saturn shared focus, plus the Mercury/Jupiter, boils down to: Time to close the business deal. (And, of course, for this epochal event 55 years in the making, we have Pluto precisely crossing Washington's Capsolar MC, to the day.)

News of the morning is that U.S. special forces just killed a top ISIL commander, believed to be the "heir apparent" - next to assume command.

The new Liblunar for Washington has nothing to say about this. The Washington CapQ has transiting Pluto exactly angular right now, so we'd expect something decisive (but more typically, for Washington, it means something happening elsewhere in the country that Washington needs to deal with).

Just to make this clear - Washington is in a longer Uranus-Pluto "zone," with Pluto exactly transiting the Capsolar MC and Uranus on the Capsolar EP. Then, today, Pluto hits a CapQ angle. We'd expect a "big deal" Pluto event today. I'm not sure this qualifies, but it might. the news probably has some more "shaking out" to do.

The CanQ has a bit of Mars.

I never mentioned on this thread something that has become a big deal since then: North Carolina's controversial bathroom bill became law March 23. I don't have a time.

Examining the solar ingresses for Raleigh, we find several interesting things.

In the CAPSOLAR, Uranus and Pluto are strong, and Mars more widely foreground, like much of the East Coast. But Raleigh is more in the line of this, with Pluto only 0°40' from MC. Pluto has remained within 2° of Raleigh's MC for the whole time.

However, the CANSOLAR is even more interesting for matters of timing. Raleigh's MC for the year is 21°53' Leo. At noon on March 23, Jupiter was 21°24' Leo, and Saturn 21°26' Scorpio. The Jupiter-Saturn square hit North Carolina quite squarely. We can read this from different perspectives, all equally valid, e.g., as a liberal-conservative battle; as "great victory" in the capital that came under attack; as "restrictive law" or "resurgence of conventional moral boundaries," and so on.

One problem the state didn't anticipate (not having a State Sidereal Astrologer) is that Jupiter moves faster than Saturn. Jupiter on MC "left the room," but Saturn has continued in orb. Victory for the legislature and governor were more fleeting than the persisting criticism and economic counter-measures - amounting to informal sanctions - on North Carolina.

The March 5 CAPLUNAR was simpler - Uranus and Pluto tightly on angles. 'Nuff said. The March 17 CANLUNAR repeated the Jupiter-Saturn square - the primary transit of the time was on the ingress angles for the week (among other planets, but these two most closely), so it was certainly the theme of the week.

In the QUOTIDIANS we get at least a little of the same. The bill passed the day that CapQ MC opposed ingress Jupiter, and the CanQ MC opposed ingress Saturn (with Asc conjunct Venus - the Cansolar's Venus-Saturn square as its signature).
