My friend and colleague Walter Dellinger died earlier today. A kind, generous man, Walter had one of the great legal minds of our time and a tireless passion for the public good. He was sometimes called "the tenth member of the Supreme Court" because his opinion was highly valued and even sought by the high court (which, a time or two, used his amicus brief language verbatim in a decision). He was acting Solicitor General during the Clinton Administration and a member of our firm for 23 years. - Sympathy to his sons. (His wife Anne died last spring.)
Walter was born May 17, 1941 in Charlotte, NC, time unknown. For any time of day, his Sun was in the first degree of Taurus. I don't have a clear sense of whether his Moon was in Sagittarius or Capricorn, though his legal and academic careers and his reserved-while-warm demeanor are certainly consistent with Sagittarius. (My clearest subjective sense is that his Moon isn't in the 1° range because I was never the slightest bit uncomfortable around him - as I would have been if his Moon squared my Neptune.) Moon left Sagittarius and entered Capricorn 8:34 AM.
He died this morning, February 16, 2022, at his home in Chapel Hill, NC. The family hasn't released a cause of death yet, but he was vital and unslowed until the end so it's likely some variation of "natural causes." (Sun square his Jupiter is the only transit.)
RIP Walter Dellinger

There was a piece on MSNBC during the All In With Chris Hayes program where the host talked about Walter Dellinger and the relationship he had with him over the years.
