OMG, what's with all the airplane stuff lately?!? Jupiter left Gemini? Moon-Mercury square in the Cansolar? Seems there should be something more general and more clear-cut for such a mammoth theme of late.

Still gathering data. More later.

EDITING: It seems pretty clear now that the plane crashed in Mali. The Guardian reports wreckage. Per CNN, "Air Algerie said via Twitter that the plane has apparently crashed in the Tilemsi area, about 70 kilometers (45 miles) from the southeastern city of Gao." The flight "lost radar contact 50 minutes after takeoff from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, early Thursday." Location, then, is Tilemsi, Mali. EDIT: Gao is 16N16 0W03. I haven't yet found coordinates for Tilemsi. Wikipedia probably will eventually give crash site coordinates. EDIT: Tilemsi is 16N15 0W12.

EDIT: My first news alert was at 4:04 AM PDT. The event was being communicated not long before that. Contact was lost 50 minutes after take-off, and I'm still look for scheduled flight information. EDIT: Contact was lost 1:55 AM local time. Ouagadougou in the African nation of Burkina Faso is at 12N21 1N31 (airport coordinates). They are on GMT.

Update: The wreckage has been found in Mali "in a disintegrated state," according to French President Hollande, its debris "concentrated in a limited area." It appears all 118 people on board are dead.
