In 1917, there were two Russian revolutions.
In the first (March 8 NS, or February 23 OS), which occurred following weeks of labor strikes and other demonstrations, the Tzar was overthrown (technically, he was cowered into abdicating) and a provisional government took his place. The strikes spread until nearly 100% of all industry was halted by March 10. The army, ordered to halt the marchers, turned on the Tzar instead (March 11). On March 15, at the strong urging of army leaders and whatever close advisors he had left, he abdicated for himself and his son. The family entered house arrest.
In the second (November 7 NS, or October 25 OS), the provisional government was overthrown by a Bolshevik government. (The Russian Civil War began months later as a consequence of this revolt, as the Bolshevik's Red Army battled with the non-communist (anti-socialist) White Army.)
The former Tzar and his family were executed July 16, 1918.
While I work this up, treat yourself to something simple and elegant: Calculate the four solar cardinal ingresses of 1917 for Petrograd, Russia, making sure to examine angularity in the mundoscope.
