Full Moon : Moon- Sun opposition

Post by Arena »

When using election astrology it is always emphasized to be careful of having a waxing Moon, preferably bright (close to a full moon) and take good care of having a good sign and no malefic aspects to it.

Are you familiar with event charts and wedding or relationship charts with a Sun-Moon opposition and do you know if those were successful?

I don't know of any (but haven't collected such charts).

Charles and Diana had abundant Sun-Moon oppositions in the mundane charts (perfect "princess weds prince" stuff), but I don't remember the wedding chart itself.

Generally, I think the traditional election rules that treat things differently from, say, what you would do in a natal should be ignored. They always feel fictional.

Well I guess that answer is basically 'I don't know'.
A waxing moon and a moon-sun opposition is by many astrologers considered a good thing in natal astrology as well... as long as they're not in aspect to malefics.

But it would be very interesting to have some insights into these kinds of charts for couples.

Aside from general aspect theory, Sun opposite Moon seems the perfect symbol for man and woman facing and uniting with each other.

Of course, that's theory.

Just looking into this again.
Looking at the Sun and Moon in their ecliptic charts, which might be more right to compare in synastry work. Her Moon-Venus square forms a T-square to his Sun opposite her Venus, which indicates love. However, his Moon does not form any aspects to her Sun or Venus, but a wide sextile to her Moon. We see a partile Sat-Pluto conjunction in their synastry, maybe indicating a great loss. Her Jupiter is partile his DSC. His Neptune-Venus is closest to his own angle (deception in love matters? (same conjunction as my own boyfriend ) ... it also falls pretty close to her MC, but his Mars is the closest to her angles (on ASC).

There was also no connection between the Sun and Moon nor from those to Venus on their wedding day which depicts the Moon on top of the chart, almost partile MC and next to Mars a bit further out. The Moon doesn't "see" the Sun as they are too close, or about 22° between them. Mars is sextile Venus in the 12th (if we look at houses) and square the Sat-Jup conj by the ASC. Pluto is in the 1st house, square Mer in 10th which some might say indicates the sex scandal gossip they eventually had to face. Going by solar arcs it seems to fit approximately that when the wedding chart ASC hits the 2° orb to Pluto in the 1st house, they separated. It took 4 years of the gossip and scandal to be unfolded until they were officially divorced, so in astrological terms it is 2°degrees before and 2° after Pluto. And the MC hits Mercury in the 10th the year they were separated, and the rumours/truth came out. The wedding chart is cast at 11.25 am (DST) on July 29th 1981.

For this purpose, that's close enough to what I'm using. I have the wedding as climaxing at 11:28 AM BST at 51N30'48" 0W05'53" and, as you noted, there is no Sun-Moon aspect.

I hadn't remembered how the actual wedding chart came out (and that's what you were asking about). I was remembering especially the mundane charts - impact on the nation and the world as a whole - which (besides having the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction on the angles of nearly every chart imaginable) was flooded with Moon-Sun, "princess weds prince" oppositions.

For example, the Cansolar a week and a half earlier had a close Moon-Sun opposition (square Pluto) across the horizon with Moon in the last half-degree of Sagittarius; therefore, it was only a short while before the Caplunar, which had the Moon-Sun opposition even closer - and more angular - only 0°02' wide - with Jupiter-Saturn (the signature aspect for the event) on IC. This also meant, of course, that the progressed Cansolar had a virtually exact Moon-Sun opposition to time the event more closely.

But not the wedding chart itself. That had aspects any amateur would have avoided IF he or she knew about mundane aspects; for, while Moon on MC and the signature Jupiter-Saturn conjunction rising was quite respectable (and the Royal Astrologer probably saw the epochal bonding of leading families timed by Tropical Libra rising), the foreground planets included a partile Mars-Saturn mundane square and a nearly-partile mundane Moon-Pluto square.

So I don't recommend those aspects :)
