At 6:45 AM this morning in Moneta, VA, two TV journalists were shot on the air. It was sunrise, and Saturn was exactly on IC (and Sun-Jupiter rising) when this happened.

The primary message of these charts is tragic. No matter what else I say below, remember that the overall message is tragic. Here, in a more concise form, are the main chart factors leading up to the day. I think you'll agree that it's an ugly, violent, emotionally fraught set of charts.

Besides the universal Moon-Jupiter in the Capsolar for the whole world, there isn't a single kind or soft feature in anything above. It's all hard and tragic and brutal. But as we get into the daily charts, things get muddied. Yes, the Capsolar Quotidian has a blistering presence of the Capsolar's Mars-Saturn square angular, triggered by Sun, and with transiting Saturn on another angle.

But there's another theme. It's not just Sun, but Sun-Jupiter that does the triggering. And yesterday's exact Sun-Jupiter conjunction (the same one that helped send the stock market shooting up like a bottle rocket late afternoon) is on the CapQ Ascendant exactly and exactly squares Cansolar Ascendant. What gives?

It's the religious theme! We've seen this in such cases as the two U.S. presidents who were murdered by someone claiming God "told them to do it." We see it differently, but just as obviously, when a specific religious group is targeted for slaughter, or murder occurs in the midst of a religious-fuelled war. Here's a quote from NY Times this morning about the shooter. (PS, to answer a question asked offline yesterday: I personally avoid naming the killers unless there is a compelling reason because I think the murder massacre rampage killings are substantially fuelled by people knowing they can get their name known by lots of people. I choose to do my bit to not help them.)

Anyway, the NY Times quote:

"[The shooter] echoed the words of the accused Charleston gunman... and spoke of a race war. He also said Jehovah had told him to act. He spoke admiringly of the Columbine High School kilers and the gunman who carried out the Virginia Tech massacre that left 32 people dead."

Capricorn Sun, Scorpio Moon (unless born in the last hour or so of the day, in which case it would have gone into Sagittarius). A partile Mercury-Venus conjunct, exactly trined Pluto. Sun square Uranus closely.

It would help to have angles on this, to get the proportion of weight of things. Mercury-Venus alone is cheerful, wanting to connect, communicate (consistent with the sort of light, human interest stories he actually broadcast), but trine Pluto gives some trouble keeping it light and friendly. This wasn't a cheery fellow, but a very angry fellow. It must be really hard to be black, gay, and a fundamentalist Christian living in the South (being none of these things myself, I can only guess).

Transiting Neptune is square his Neptune. Sure, this gives some troubled states of mind as people take a different look at their life, but it doesn't usually mean "crazy." The loudest things in the sky miss his chart entirely, unless they aren't missing his angles (which we don't know). A couple of days earlier, Mars squared his Mars, though, and it was still in 1° orb, so that's a place to start: 15°-16° Rim is highlighted in his solunars for sure, and is the main volatile energy he was under.
