USA Mundane Forecast
for the four weeks beginning OCTOBER 31, 2022

If you are unfamiliar with the methods and interpretations of Sidereal mundane astrology, please see my free book Sidereal Mundane Astrology. (A link can be found near the top of the Publications sub-forum.) For standard interpretations, see Ch 8 of the current (17th) Edition.

USA Mundane Forecast §§§ The Biden Report §§§ Other Locations §§§ Ingress Summaries §§§ Transits to Capsolar Planets §§§ Outer Planet Sign Transits

LONG-TERM (Solar Ingresses)
Capsolar effective Jan 15, 2022 to Jan 15, 2023. (Summarized from my Jan 15-30 forecast.)
  • An accounting cycle for the Biden administration. Republican gains seem certain in the midterm elections.
  • Sun conjunct Pluto (1°21'): Unprecedented conditions, irrevocable shifts, rebellion against conditions, assault or removal of those in power, and disrespect for law (greater lawlessness). People demand freedom from control or leadership they feel is failing them. Solar figures are challenged and held accountable. More people think of themselves as "a law unto oneself" or exception to the rules. Many possibilities, from natural disasters to political confrontation.
  • Since May 22, Sun-Pluto has progressed to within 1°00'. This progression lasts until January. We are in the part of 2022 when the above Sun-Pluto phenomena come into their own.
  • Moon-Mars-Neptune: Crime is up. Neighborhoods feel more dangerous. Ferocious civil unrest. What was once called "civilization" rips open with unaddressed grievance while struggling to settle into new patterns in which people feel safer and more secure.
  • Sun-Pluto with Moon-Mars-Neptune: Increased physical threat to the president or the Federal government as a whole (perhaps through heightened domestic terrorism).
  • Moon opposite Mars (affecting the world as a whole): A state of alarm. Typical expressions: violence, blood, fire, earthquakes, accidents, other destruction; often significant loss of life. Other expressions: war, bombings and explosions, other attacks, deaths of leaders. Moon square Neptune (local to Washington): Waves of emotional reaction, fervor, herd-mind arousal, or panic accompanied by confusion, disorientation, uncertainty, and an undermined sense of security. Mars-Neptune: Panic or feeling the ground fall from under one’s feet - surging adrenaline with heightened aroused emotion - increasing the risk of treachery, sabotage, other betrayal, poisoned relationships, and scandal.
  • Sun/Mercury = IC: Broadly intensifies and highlights Mercury themes, including transportation, commerce, and science. Mercury square Uranus: Scientific and technological advances continue (no turning from technology). Freedom and flexibility in communication and travel are big break-out themes, including significant expansion and redesign in social media's impact. Science continues to have direct, relevant influence on people's changing lives.
  • Mercury-Uranus impacts social trends: With growing urgency of antisocial independence and autonomous self-sufficiency, with people feeling exempt from precedents and historic social standards, "independent thinking" becomes a rallying cry (though probably more of a fantasy than a reality: herd-mind passions surge the cry for "independent" opinion). Passion-fed rejection of expert opinion, reliance on crowd opinion, other challenges to convention or authority. “Don’t tell me how to think” takes on new, widespread life.
Libsolar (Oct 18)
Effective Oct 18, 2022 to April 15, 2023. (Summarized from my Oct 3-31 forecast.)
  • Matters begun now will have unusual impact and continuity through the first part of 2023.
  • Pluto 0°08' from IC square Sun-Venus: Repeats Sun-Pluto from the Capsolar: This is the quarter when the Year Chart's promise ripens. The Biden administration faces an accounting cycle. Republican gains seem certain. We face unprecedented conditions, irrevocable shifts, rebellion against conditions, assault or removal of those in power, and disrespect for law. People demand freedom from control or leadership they feel is failing them. Solar figures are challenged and held accountable.
  • Venus rising conjunct Sun: Common for events that resolve conflict and bring peace. Venus issues are at the forefront, e.g., abortion rights will be a primary issue impacting the balloting. Might this also forecast a peaceful resolution to existing conflict and threats?
  • Venus-Pluto (0°29'): An irrevocable change in relationships. Along with purely local expression (e.g., natural disasters) and social impact (e.g., marriage and reproductive rights), between nations this refers to significant shifts in alliances and antipathies. This will be its fundamental theme. I stand hopeful that the predominantly peaceful tone of the chart will prevail.

MEDIUM-TERM (The Bridge)

Worldwide, expect incendiary emotions and actions, volatility, and inflammation. Other than Pluto's square to U.S. Capsolar Ascendant, all the medium-term factors are transits to Capsolar or Cansolar Moons, which affect the whole world. War and its horrors seem the most likely themes, though this is also flu season - and we've come to expect fevers, infection, and other biological inflammation in recent years.

Another strong factor increases the threat: In the Capsolar, Mars was 1°36' from opposite Moon. By mid-November, Mars progresses to within a 1° orb. From now until the Capsolar expires in mid-January will be the most incendiary, inflammatory part of its 12-month reign. Volatile, rebellious rage following the U.S. elections is a definite possibility.

Mars transits overlap Neptune-Pluto until November 20. Perhaps the most threatening time is November 13-20 (just as the Mars-Moon progression becomes partile) when Mars and Neptune both transit progressed Cansolar Moon.
  • START to Nov 12: Pluto sq Capsolar Asc. Neptune sq CanQ Moon. Mars sq Capsolar Moon.
  • Nov 13-14: Pluto sq Capsolar Asc. Neptune sq CanQ Moon. Mars sq Capsolar & CanQ Moons.
  • Nov 15-20: Pluto sq Capsolar Asc. Neptune sq CanQ Moon. Mars sq CanQ Moon.
  • Nov 21-24: Pluto sq Capsolar Asc. Neptune sq CanQ Moon.
  • Nov 25 to END: Pluto sq Capsolar Asc.
Mars starts in Gemini, then backs into Taurus November 8 (Election Day). Mars' square to Neptune (exact November 19) impacts much of the month. Jupiter is stationary November 23 (3°45' Pis). Summaries of longer-term trends from outer planet sign transits are here.

SHORT-TERM (Lunar Ingresses)

Liblunar (Oct 24)
Effective Oct 24-Nov 7. Though Election Day comes just after this chart fades, the climax of this year's election saga likely will hit under this two-week Liblunar, perhaps as an October Surprise - though it isn't clear which side delivers the surprise. For example, this complex Liblunar would be consistent with almost breathtaking diplomacy. It also hides a trickster in the bushes, poised to overturn the game table. Finally, it speaks strongly of revolt against the current state of things.

Moon conjunct Mercury is most angular. Besides saying the news media will be out in unusual force (one doesn't need astrology to predict that!), we expect events involving flight, wind, swiftness, uncountable pieces of paper (or their digital equivalent), transportation in general, and - especially - anything relying heavily on strategic, tactical planning and coordinated mobilization.

Venus is next most angular (in closer mundane conjunction with Moon than you can see in the accompanying chart, and of course conjunct Sun). The Venus/Uranus and Sun/Uranus midpoints are along the horizon, a common signal of changing foreign relations. These aspects normally signal peace (perhaps a resolution of October's tensions).

Of greatest interest, though, is Uranus and Pluto returned to their mundane square. It's also hard to ignore that Uranus is rising conjunct Eris, another planet that has shown it can overturn expectations and make us the butt of its joke. Bottom line, Uranus-Pluto is like a last-second reversal in a football game that completely flips the outcome. It is destabilizing, revolutionary, revising, remapping, anti-establishment, and often anti-government, bringing new conditions unbound by precedent, custom, convention, or authority. It does its best to dismantle current systems and tear down existing, iconic structures. That's what we can expect for these two weeks and, perhaps, for this election cycle as a whole.

Caplunar (Oct 31)
The Caplunar is silent for Washington. (There is no "month" chart for the U.S. this month. The Liblunar persists as the most recent live Week chart.)

Arilunar (Nov 6)
Effective Nov 6-27. This includes Election Day. As the Week chart (shown above as a mundoscope) has Jupiter within a degree of Ascendant, we can expect a very good outcome. - The problem is, people don't all agree on what constitutes a very good outcome to the election!

Jupiter is joined by a more widely foreground afflicted Neptune: The affliction is a square from non-foreground Mars. I think we do not need astrology to anticipate unusual treachery and trickery connected to the election. These, and a close Moon-Pluto square, do, however, anticipate an unusually large turnout with significant passion. I think the exactly angular Jupiter protects against large scale violence on Election Day itself, but the charts say otherwise for later in the month after the vote counting has settled down.

What does this Jupiter forecast if not identifiable "good results"? Jupiter usually highlights victories, diplomacy, peace, increased prosperity and a sense of abundance. This is confusing because other indications are that Democrats are going to lose badly, yet people feeling prosperity usually supports the incumbents. Following the astrology, I need to forecast that (besides more inflation from Jupiter-Neptune) most people in the country will consider this a really good week.

Our best clue to anything further is the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction; yet this also anticipates things that common sense does not expect from this election, like optimism and social cohesiveness. While Democratic Party losses are expected (and seem supported by the solar ingresses' message of overthrowing the current majority), Jupiter-Neptune themes show the strengths of traditional Dem constituencies, strengths like collective action, a conviction that we thrive better together than apart, social idealism and faith, and greater concern for the collective good than for individual wants. While I do not see this in the headlines and polls, I need to interpret the chart as it presents itself.

Canlunar (Nov 13)
The Canlunar is silent for Washington.

Liblunar (Nov 21)
The Liblunar is silent for Washington.

The Biden Report

Post by Jim Eshelman »

SIDEREAL LUNAR RETURN (Nov 7)
Effective Nov 6-Dec 4. Remarkably, this chart has NO foreground planets (natal OR transiting). For the most part, this gives us nothing to read in the chart at all.

Occurring November 7 - one day before Election Day - Pres. Biden night well not be in Washington but, rather, campaigning elsewhere across the country, Where will he wake up that day? The SLR occurs at 4:07 AM EST. If we can identify where he is at that moment, I will write a last-minute addendum to this forecast.

In the meantime, we have one minor interpretive option available. Even if not near angles, partile aspects have some voice. Primarily they show background context to the overt events anticipated by planets on angles. As they are the ONLY viable factors (if he is in or near Washington when this return occurs), they deserve mention. Overall, they are unpleasant, sad, disappointing, and likely angering or drawing forth strong words. These may, of course, have nothing to do with the election. As background energies, they may not be visible to the public. However, they do likely show the scenery against which he is living and experiencing his life. These aspects (with M to mark a mundane aspect) are: t Venus-Saturn sq 0°05'. t Mars-Neptune sq 0°05' M. t Pluto op r Jupiter 0°05'. t Mercury co r Mars 0°25'. t Sun-Mercury co 0°48'.

SIDEREAL SOLAR RETURN (Nov 20)
Effective Nov 20, 2022 to Nov 20, 2023. For his entire presidency, Pres. Biden has been under strong Neptunian conditions. In addition to Neptune transiting his IC while he was running and during his first year in office, he also has had Neptune closely angular in each solar return.

That's true of his new November 20, 2022 SSR as well. The difference is, this year Neptune is joined by Jupiter! The 12 months beginning November 20 will be his most successful, flourishing, respected, prestige-elevating year of his current four-year term.

When any of us has a solar return with Neptune closely conjunct an angle, we experience a year of mental and emotional flurry. Circumstances spin around us - often quite confusing and disorienting - stirring mental and emotional excitement. It's certainly easier to be retired or vacationing than trying to be efficient and decisive! One gets drawn or absorbed into circumstances. Practical efforts are diluted. Impractical, conceptual matters (drama, fantasy, other crafted or altered reality) are easier pastimes. Inspiration (as a form of enthusiastic entertainment) is often the best we can do.

Biden came into office with a pandemic raging amidst fierce domestic psychological instability. One could easily be swamped by such circumstances. How people view his first two years will vary, especially dependent on one's political leanings: His supporters see these as years where inspiration and vision have been his most powerful tools in mobilizing a nation against difficult times. His detractors regard him as inept and impractical, questioning whether his cognitive faculties remain intact. All of these are Neptunian expressions, which I think we can understand most fully by mentally placing ourselves in the circumstances and demands that greeted him as he took office.

His new year, beginning November 20, has transiting Neptune 3° past Solar Return Midheaven and natal Neptune widely conjunct IC. However, this year's chart also has transiting Jupiter on the other side of Midheaven! This, therefore, will be the best, most respected, most successful, most prestige-enhancing, perhaps even most lauded year of his presidency.

I don't know how this will come about. Current solar ingresses seem to describe what logic and history tell us to expect, that Biden's party will lose strength in the 2020 midterm elections. How can he have his most successful year if his party loses control of one or more houses of Congress? Indeed, Biden's SSR is the best astrological argument for Democratic Party wins in the election, disagreeing with other concurrent charts. Or are his pending successes (in the face of election losses) from plying his rare gifts for bipartisan collaboration? - I honestly don't know. I just know that if he is in or near Washington, DC when this return occurs, we are entering the most successful year of his term.

The fine points are in the blend of Jupiter and Neptune. We can't separate them, especially since their midpoint is 0°26' from Midheaven. As an entertainment aspect, Jupiter-Neptune says there will be plenty of the "show biz" elements of politics. This is also an aspect of faith. Social idealism and cohesiveness are his strongest messages.

Solar return progressions single out parts of the year for special themes. Most important of these is progressed SSR Moon square Pluto's opposition to natal Jupiter in late April. (Moon-Jupiter is exact April 19, Moon-Pluto on April 27. Each is broadly active for a month either side.) This likely will be the peak expression of his long-term Puto-Jupiter transit which dramatically (perhaps historically) shifts his stature and standing.

SIDEREAL DEMI-LUNAR RETURN (Nov 21)
Effective Nov 20-Dec 4. What the full SLR lacks in saying anything useful at all, the Demi-SLR makes up for big time. This is one of Biden's most important charts of the year. In the chart above, see transiting Pluto at MC and transiting Uranus rising, natal Jupiter at IC and natal Mars setting. These form a mundane Grand Cross of great power. The closeness of the mundane aspects is easier to see with the mundoscope positions (prime vertical longitude). Stated as degrees and minutes of their respective houses, these are:

27°43' 12H - r Moon
0°23' 7H - r Mars
0°55' 4H - r Jupiter
1°58' 1H - t Uranus
2°28' 10H - t Pluto

Transiting Uranus square Pluto is revolutionary, revising, and remapping: Outside forces seem to conspire to overthrow existing frameworks and dismantle current structures making way for substantial changes. In brief, things change dramatically and (as these are transiting planets) the changes appear to come from the world around President Biden: They are conditions that impact him.

Natal Mars square Jupiter (which doesn't appear in his natal chart: It is unique to the mundane framework of the demi-lunar) signifies heroic combat and competitive victory. It exalts strength, confidence, and moral courage, shows an elevated zest for living and engaging life head-on, and fires up aggressive, enthusiastic evangelism for one's strong beliefs. - Also, a mundane natal Moon-Mars opposition (also not present in the natal and only manifest for this two-week period) primarily means competitive-aggressive instincts and enflamed emotions.

We can examine the four individual transiting aspects - Pluto and Uranus to natal Mars and Jupiter - though the summary above probably captures the period: Dramatic shifts and revolutionary energies draw from Biden valor, enthusiasm, and competitive excellence.

Transiting Pluto opposite natal Jupiter (0°20' ecliptically) is strongest. This shows dramatic shifts of one's life-station and prestige, usually uplifting. This aspect has defined the stage in his life he has been president and sometimes given him his biggest surprise wins (as it did for Trump before him). Transiting Uranus square natal Jupiter (1°03' mundo) also shows sudden changes in fortune specifically by awakening the best in us: It suggests success and progress.

Transiting Uranus opposite natal Mars (1°36' mundo) has been in play for months. He is risk-taking, industrious and enterprising, and probably abrupt, figuratively ignoring the speed limit and forcing issues that demand immediate, impatient action. Transiting Pluto square natal Mars (2°06' mundo) brings a different twist: It shows a heightened desire to live and act unhampered by others' expectations or control: Disobedient, willful, and eccentric, Biden has a renewed streak of angry juvenile delinquent drive him to not care how other people feel and just do what he damn well thinks is right.

Non-foreground close aspects testify further that this is a positive, active period for him: Transiting Sun conjoins natal Sun-Venus suggesting he is happily in the driver's seat. We also see a 0°01' middleground Mercury-Venus conjunction, suggesting that people listen to him graciously.

Geographic areas centered on map lines have a roughly 150-200 mile leeway (3°) for strong effects. For these mappings of planetary energies, see standard interpretations in Chapter 8 of Sidereal Mundane Astrology. (A link to the free current edition can always be found near the top of the Publications sub-forum.) Transits to Capsolar Planets

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Transits to Capsolar planets are important identifiers for locales where the 'natal' planet was angular in the Capsolar, or where it spins to a CapQ angle at the time of the aspect.

Outer Planet Sign Transits

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Pluto in Capricorn (2021-2038)
https://www.solunars.com/viewtopic.php? ... 906#p33904
Harsher, struggling, dystopian: people doubt they will regain guarantees of safety or security from violence, economic crisis, or cultural breakdown. Autonomous self-sufficiency, struggle for survival. Need to preserve and restore survivability of the planet. Shortages of land, secure living space, and privacy (territorial conflicts). Hunger and dwelling insecurity. People determining anew how they want to be governed. Control vs. being controlled. Increased social isolation and focus on survival (anticipating breakdown of society or survivability of the world with depleting stability and resources). Intensified tensions between individual survival vs. connected wider community, and between uplifted and controlling classes vs. the debased and controlled classes. Breakdown of old structures and outmoded patterns. Bedrock financial institutions are challenged and reassessed. New economies emerge, including a structural reconceiving of work, jobs, employment, and earnings. Anything father-themed comes under attack (and retaliates). Ancient grievances and resentments are renewed. Society's relationship to aging and the aged will change necessarily. Revolution in pharmacology.

Neptune in Aquarius (2009-2023)
https://www.solunars.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=388
Suppressed or diffused social progressiveness, squashed rebellions, deranged concepts of liberty, all setting the stage for a future conflict or breakthrough after the transit is over. Imagined new vistas and possibilities without current capacity to reach or manage them. Roused socialist-leaning liberalism. Failure of universalism, futurism, or true enlightenment to flourish. Shortage of dispassionate clarity, fostered ignorance.

This transit reflects living in a time when most people feel like we are living in a science fiction wonderland, "imagining the inconceivable." Change happens so fast, technical progress accelerating far beyond any vision prior generations had to the 21st century (provided it doesn't involve transportation). One aspect of this is increased complexity with life changing faster than neurology can grasp, manage, and keep up. It has fostered technological surveillance and loss of privacy.

Uranus in Aries (2017-2025)
https://www.solunars.com/viewtopic.php? ... 2560#p2560
A volatile time politically. Issues of economics, government, and accelerated armament. Great challenges to the stability of existing alliances: Acute polarization splits former allies (individuals, social groups, or nations) along new axes. Widespread dissatisfaction fuels repudiation of historic closely held views and values. Each such era, while people are passing through it, feels like a transitions between a concluding old cycle and an opening new cycle.

An unyielding, unremitting sense of emergency exists, then autocratic governance increases. Extraordinary autocratic power is yielded (voluntarily granted) to national leaders, who acquire increasing dominion of economic and social issues. Armament, safety, going one's way alone without the encumbrances of alliances... these win out over the demand for personal liberty and social equality. The masses seem more comfortable with an authoritarian father figure to "make everything OK." Absent a state of war, there me be a suspension of checks and balances on autocracy normal to martial law.

Increased polarization and struggle between opposing extremes - each historic period has its own example, whether it be arising fascism vs. socialism (or political elements that, if more extreme, would have emerged as overtly fascist or socialist, extremism of right vs. left), opposing views on slavery, Catholic vs. Protestant wars, etc. Economics (especially trade) are unstable, in a precarious balance. Economics policies become more nationalistic and autistic, increasingly protective, to defend against trade inequities and competition imbalances. Extreme unrest in economically hurting populations.

Saturn in Capricorn (Jan 2020 - Jan 2023)
https://www.solunars.com/viewtopic.php? ... 344#p28419
Individual and political struggles for survival, autonomy, and self-sufficiency. Land & space: Shortages of land and secure space, redefining boundaries; territorial acquisitions and annexations, mineral rights, mining conflicts; walls, embargoes, spatial segregation, splitting historically separate countries into autonomous nations. Earth & water crises: Ecological concerns regarding climate change; land- and water-based retaliations by the Earth against destabilizing climate change; volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, no-warning fire outbreaks; water and land rights and conservation. Hunger, food-security, and dwelling issues including crop failures and famine; further crumbling of farming as a viable livelihood; hunger may be weaponized (or may be addressed aggressively). Earth-mindful rebellion religions thrive, including renewal and empowerment of paganism. Major finance developments: Vast financial institutional restructuring and management, especially favoring capitalism. Changes in how we collectively control money and commerce including bedrock foundations, controls, and financial restructuring; institutions aimed at money security are created or strengthened; long-standing economic hardship and social disenfranchisement boil over. Fear: Focus on how we manage and respond to it. Disabilities and misfortune draw focus: "Inferiority" (so-called) more visible; disability and genetic bigotry; widespread civil liberties conflicts and civil rights resistance activism. Relief from the arts and laughter.

Re: US forecast Oct 31 - Nov 27, 2022

Post by Jim Eshelman »

So far, it seems that interpreting the chart the way we find it, despite expectations, is the right approach. Here is what I said about the Arilunar (which is the "chart of the week" for three weeks running due to dormant Canlunar and Liblunar). - The one error I see is that there doesn't appear to have been much "treachery and trickery" this time around despite the Mars-Neptune square. I correctly called the "unusually large turnout" and other features from the psychological setting of the chart.
Jim Eshelman wrote: Sat Jul 24, 2021 3:46 pm Arilunar (Nov 6)
