January 8, 2011, at 10:10 AM, in Casas Adobes, AZ (specifically 32N20'10", 110W58'31"), six people were killed and 15 injured when a shooter attempted the assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
Despite its national attention and extreme local importance, this is a very poor example of SMA in practice. (The Caplunar, though atypical, is interesting in a "challenge of those in power" sense, and there are plenty of Moon and Venus indications that are consistent with a woman being the center of the news, but that's about it.)

Re: 2011 Tucson shooting (Gabrielle Giffords)
Because a member of Congress was involved, and because this was a true national-impact event, let's check the charts for Washington.
The results are spectacularly better! Though occurring outside Tucson, AZ, this event was an assault against the U.S. government in the person of one of its direct elected officers. In fact, it's one of the better ones I've seen.
