Brown v. Board of Education

On May 17, 1954 the United States Supreme Court handed down a rare unanimous decision in Brown v. The Board of Education of Topeka, overturning the 1896 decision in Plessy v. Ferguson, and ruling state-sponsored racial segregation in public schools illegal.

I am using 10:00 AM for an estimated time of the announcement. (Surely there are vivid historic accounts of this somewhere, giving the time - I just haven't found them yet, and this will be sufficient for current purposes.)

Note that Mars was moving very slowly, and spent most of the year in Sagittarius. On May 22 it was stationary at 14°25' Sagittarius, just 12' from its position at this decision. It crossed the Washington Cansolar Ascendant twice in short order, on May 10 and June 4. Also, transiting Sun's square to CanQ MC was long-term, since the two move at such similar speeds; it lasted two months, from March 27 to May 27.
