RIP George Michael

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Dec 25, 2016

George Michael is dead at age 53. Among many other things, he was the only occasional stand-in for Freddy Mercury that made the slightest sense or dent. Time to dedicate today to "something special, something sacred."

NOTE TO 2016: Please take a break for the holidays. In fact, take the rest of the year off. You've worked hard enough, thank you very much. (Seriously, thanks for reminding us that, "If we have faith in each other then we can be strong." We might need that one.)

Oh, uh, back to the 'strology.

Michael's birth certificate has no time on it. According to his business office, he was born June 25, 1963, 6:00 AM, Finchley, England.

A Gemini-Cancer with a close Mars-Pluto square square his Mercury-Venus conjunction, Moon closely opposite Saturn, and the Mars-Pluto foreground (Pluto closest), he was a powerful force in music for decades. At the moment I'm chuckling at the irony of some of his best known titles in comparison to his chart, "Faith" for a Gemini Sun and "Father Figure" for a Cancer Moon opposite Saturn in Capricorn, for example. His emotional and personal force and charisma are all over the chart. Not ironically, his foreground Mars-Pluto conjunction is, well, "Wham!"

(PS - I missed Jupiter closely square Asc.)

He reportedly "died peacefully" around family and friends. I don't have hard facts on his health and the results of his blood tests, but with several years of recurring pneumonia, spiking temperatures, and negligible resistance to viruses, I have my own theories about the matter.

Yeah, I'd missed the Jupiter square Ascendant, although arguably the Pluto on IC is more powerful by a whisker.

Neither Mercury nor Venus is in orb of square MC (I wouldn't use more than 2° for that).

I'm surprised you didn't notice Uranus square Vertex 0°07' <vbg>.

It's interesting looking at his Mercury-Mars as a "creativity" axis. For those who kow his work, consider the following connected midpoints (this is on a 90° sort):

2°32' Me/Pl
2°40' Mo/Su
3°13' Ve/Pl
3°23' Me/Ma
3°37' Su/Sa
4°04' Ve/Ma

Transits for today (since I don't have a time of death, I'm using right now, not long after the news broke).

t. Pluto -180- r. Asc -1°15' [suggests his birthtime was a minute or two earlier]
t. Pluto -90- r. Mercury -22'
t. Neptune -180- r Pluto -60'
t. Sun -180- r. Sun < 1°

He just had his Demi-SSR a day ago, but I don't know where he has been staying.

His Demi-SSR setup in the wee hours of Christmas Day and show Jupiter-Uranus tightly across the horizon. This would be an aspect of release and relief (and, of course, his albums will now sell more in the next three months than in his entire career, if he follows pattern).

The Jupiter-Uranus opposition is also the only thing reasonably close to angles in his last SLR.

His current SSR, from six months ago, seems less connected to his death. It is dominated by Mercury and Uranus on angles. However, of particular interest is that transiting Saturn is currently just leaving a 1° orb of conjunct SSR Ascendant.

People Magazine just confirmed that an ambulance arrived at 1:42 PM GMT. One might guess it was called soon after 1:00 PM.

Jupiter Sets At Dawn wrote:Astro.com includes the vertex in the same list as asteroids. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the extended chart selection page, and it's one of your options under "additional objects". Be sure to save your default again if you want it in every chart.

Why do you say that when Venus is at 21 and Mc is at 22?
Do u mean mundanely u don't see a square?

Oh, wait, you're right - read it wrong. Venus is 20°49' and MC is 22°09', though for some reason I read it as 22°59'. I started to comment on his Venus as part of his overall charisma quotient, in the first post - and then stopped and deleted it because I thought it was too far.

Mercury, though, is 2°42', which is too far.

Mind is too burned out from trying to think of a coordinate system (or one I can fake) that measures position by a great circle perpendicular to the meridian and passes through the horizon's Eastpoint and Westpoint. It probably has never been defined, but I'm still working on it. Thought I had it for a moment and then realized an error. Oh, well, continuing on...

Regarding Michael, the most powerful angularity is his Pluto 2°08' off IC, but those Venus and Jupiter secondary angles are definitely stand-outs.

Venus is at 20.49 though.

Jupiter partile sq Asc ecliptically... so those planets along with Pluto give him enourmous success I guess. And that Mercury being so close to Venus gives him a smooth way with lyrics :)
