Rwanda genocide

The triggering event of the Rwanda genocide was the assassination of Rwandan President Juvenal Habyrarimana and Burndian President Cyprien Ntaramira (shooting down the plane in which they were both flying, with two surface-to-air missiles) April 6, 1994, about 8:20 PM, in Kigari, Rwanda. Military intervention prevented the legal successor, Rwanda Prime Minister Agathe Uwilingiyimaria, from assuming power, and placed senior military officers in charge; the PM was killed late the next morning. Other assassinations of high ranking figures occurred late on April 6 or early on the 7th, all moderate Rwandan leaders being dead or in hiding by noon April 7.

But even earlier than these events, "within a few hours of Habyarimana's death" by one account (thus perhaps as early as 0:00 April 7), the massive murder of Tutsi (on ethnic grounds) began. Initially this was under the erroneous excuse that Tutsis wre responsible for the president's murder.

Over the next 100 days, approximately 1,000,000 Rwandans (Tutsi and Hutu ) were murdered. Neighbors were turned against long-time neighbors on a basis of ethnic division. Brutal rape and sexual mutilation were commonplace, including assaults by "rape squads" of men released from HIV hospital wards. Other than a United Nations mission on the ground (which was not permitted to take part in the fighting), no international relief intervened.

A close approximation of the starting time of this genocide would be April 7, 1994, 0:00, Kigali, Rwanda. This is one of a dozen events I've seen lately that is burning in the reality of Jupiter's intimate connection to vast ethnic slaughter.

This is indeed fascinating.
All I can come up with as a sort of "explanation", trying to understand how Jupiter can be connected to massacres, is an image of huge numbers of people intensely praying (turning their attention sharply to the religious) in the face of their immediate death.

Here's what I'm working with on this...

First, most of these events were - however gross this sounds - significant military victories for the "home team" military elitist.

But, more to the point, Jupiter deals with caste distinctions. One form this takes is ethnic distinctions. We easily see Jupiter for religious conflicts & other belief-driven conflicts, but ethnic & racial distinctions are the same kind of psychological phenomena.

There's more to it... but a piece of it, I'm pretty sure, is that Jupiter refers to racial & ethnic elitism.
