Comparing T1 and T2

On reviewing this sub-forum today, I realized the most common topic under Tertiary Progressions has been whether we have the rate right. The rate is 1 day = 1 sidereal month; but the question has been raised of what we mean by "1 day." Historically, this has meant a mean solar day (civil day), the same day that has proven itself superior for secondary progressions. Alternately, it was proposed this might be one so-called "sidereal day" (one rotation of Earth on its axis), which is almost four minutes shorter per day.

This is the same difference as between the Q2 and Q1 variations of secondary progressions. In fact, the Q2 vs Q1 flag in Solar Fire seems only to flip the day definition, so the easiest way to experiment with the sidereal day variant of Terts is to flip "Progression Day Type" from Q2 to Q1.

Because of this analogy, I began calling these variants T1 and T2, even though (exactly as with secondary progressions) T2 came into being first and T1 is its alternative theory. In testing these, I found the case-by-case results pretty evenly divided but with maybe a slight favoring of T1. Yet I've continued to use T2.

As a comparison, to show how much difference this might make, here are my major tert (hard aspect) progressions for 2023, first as T2 (traditional) and then as T1 (new theory). As you will see, there are large differences (at my age about 2 1/2 months)!

T1 angles are clear winners, though method of calculating angles is controversial. T2 Uranus transit to P3 Sun is quite exact, but then there comes the transiting Jupiter to P3 Moon. Tie.
