Saturn Return aligns with 2024's Vernal Equinox

Post by sidus_illuminans »

According to my birth certificate, I was born July 19, 1994, 4:30 PM, Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

Likely location during Saturn Return: Cary, NC

The next Spring/Vernal Equinox begins on 3/19/24 at 11:06pm eastern time, last I checked.

In my understanding, my Sidereal Saturn Return begins on 3/19/24 at 11:27pm eastern. My Saturn Return begins just 21 minutes after the Equinox, ushering in the 120th year of the Aeon of Horus. There is also the Aquarius component.

This is both fascinating and intimidating for me. Is this alignment something that will be tumultuous or is this a fortuitous synchronicity? If someone could help me understand both the astrological and occult implications I would greatly appreciate it.
Note: I am an astrological newbie.

I get your next Saturn Return for March 20, 2024, 12:49 AM EDT. You were probably using Eastern Standard Time, so this is nearly the same as what you calculated. (I used Solar Fire; not sure what you used.) Saturn that day moves 99" of arc, so the time it takes to move 1" is plus-minus about 15 minutes, whereas our two different ways of calculating produced times 22 minutes apart - a little farther. This is probably the limits of contemporary astrology software.

I think you are putting too much on this for the simple reason that I've never been able to confirm that the Saturn Return works as a return chart (in the same way that solar and lunar returns operate). That is, I have never seen it truly operate as a stand-alone chart. It's a transit of Saturn to natal Saturn that times similarly to other transits, but with some significant-feeling lead-in (build up) over the last year or two as Saturn completes its orbit of the sun.

Nonetheless, this should be a significantly maturing time for you, a time when the universe gives you a personal report card on what you have done well and poorly in your life, especially over the last seven years. That this personal ripening comes at a time with personal religious significance for you will surely give you sense it is intensely meaningful. as a side note, I suspect that, as part of your "report card," you'll have some hard truths to face about relationships and personal closeness since, at birth, you have a Venus-Saturn opposition as the single strongest thing in your chart, and Saturn returns to that just as Venus also conjoins Saturn. Venus-Saturn "messages from the universe" are likely to be part of the short-term expression of your Saturn cycle.

I actually think Pluto's opposition to your Sun a couple of years ago was a much bigger life change and point of connection to destiny than the Saturn return will be, but Saturn returns also can't be taken lightly.

Are you in Cory now? I'm curious when your recent solar return (birthday chart) set up.

Happy to be here. Thank you for your reply Jim.

I was using (https://horoscopes.astro-seek.com/calcu ... sit-chart/) to calculate my Saturn Return. Oddly, I am having difficulty reproducing my previous calculation with the above site. But you're the expert, so I'll go with your calculation until im competent enough to dig further.

I am a bit short on time at the moment so I'll reply more thoroughly later.
Yes, I am currently in Cary, NC. Any insights beyond my initial question are welcome.

Hi sidus welcome to the forum, fwiw, when I had my first Saturn Return I was first introduced to the world of astrology. I was going through a very difficult time during my first Saturn Return. Are you now or have you recently been going through very difficult times with your first Saturn Return? And what led you to your interest in this astrological forum as a newbie? Thanks.

Are Saturn Returns less significant in Sidereal Astrology? I haven't been able to find much in the forum about interpreting them.

Jim, could you elaborate on the significance of my Pluto's opposition to my Sun years ago? What was the precise timing? I am interested in looking into what happened around that time.

When you mention "you'll have some hard truths to face about relationships and personal closeness", does that pertain to romantic relationships specifically?

Regarding my Solar Return, is there a way for me to see key themes? I'm curious about spiritual and employment related themes. I still dont feel like I am where I need to be vocationally speaking.

Hey Steve. Technically I started dabbling with Tropical natal charts fall of last year shortly after I got into magick, several months before Saturn entered into the sign of its return. I first found this forum by chance when dabbling with some Sidereal stuff a couple months ago, and then soon after heard about this forum again via word of mouth from a reliable friend. Since Saturn entered the sign of its return in January of this year I had to make a sudden move, experienced some bizarre ongoing issues with a close friend, and I was initiated. But since then I have not really faced any more difficulties than usual. I suppose my biggest difficulty is my dissatisfaction with my career, despite just entering a "very good" profession according to standard opinion.

Do Saturn Return related events tend to gradually build up to the moment of exact return?

Not less so - in fact, I don't know of anyplace in Tropical astrology where they are treated as anything more than unusually important transits, which is exactly how I'm treating them here.

Interpretation: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=239&p=1616#p1617

Pluto first entered a 1° orb of opposite your Sun in March 2021 and actually hasn't left it for the last time: That will occur at the end of November 2023. (Sorry, I thought it had already gone.) This two and a half year period should substantially reinvent your understanding of yourself and where you are going - identity and destiny being the intertwined themes.
When you mention "you'll have some hard truths to face about relationships and personal closeness", does that pertain to romantic relationships specifically?
It means non-casual ones, so it's not likely to mean anything as minor as 'friends in general," Not necessarily romantic only, but relationships that strongly embody your relationship to love and your needs for affiliation and connection.
Regarding my Solar Return, is there a way for me to see key themes? I'm curious about spiritual and employment related themes. I still dont feel like I am where I need to be vocationally speaking.
Which solar return? Your current one?

Whether it's the Saturn return or not, most people feel a two-to-three year lead-in toward their Saturn return. Lots of other things occur the late 20s, and its a natural maturing phase, probably started by the fact that the capacity for critical thinking matures around age 25 and the next two or three years start to shift how one looks at the world.

Progressed Moon completes one circuit of the zodiac soon after turning 27. Pluto conjoins natal Neptune for everyone about the same time, significantly reshaping one's worldview and relationship to illusion. These are things everyone goes to.

Besides this broad late 20s wave of things, the Saturn return itself is like any other transit: It especially marks out a stage of your life from when it first enters a 1° orb until it last leaves that orb. This bounds a period of time in which its purpose is to reshape you in some significant way. (All major transits have this purpose.) It can operate several degrees wider than this - easily out to 5° - if it occurs near an angle of a solar or lunar return, but the main alchemy window is in the first-partile to last-partile time. In your case, that window us March to December 2024. (You may notice a particular peak around March 19 and a sense that the process has concluded and you are wrapping up the details mid-November.)

sidus asked:

Speaking for myself with my first Saturn Return, I do believe there is a “gradual build- up” of things which induces a major shift of one’s thinking processes and orientations for life. I do not believe there is a wow moment at the exact time of a Saturn Return, it’s a slow process of changing one’s major life orientations/expectations. Jim’s words in this topic thread about the first Saturn Return are some of the best explanations I have read. The structure of one’s Natal Chart and “what is going on” in one’s immediate environment about a year before the first Saturn Return is critical for analysis as to how a first Saturn Return operates on one’s psyche with specifics, IMHO. With me it was the most sobering time in my entire life as to what I had been expecting for the rest of my future, I realized my future expectations were actually an illusion, Saturn made me take a hard look for my future. It completely structured me in different sobering ways, philosophically. It was a time when I had to tear out many old ways of living with a complete set on new ways of living for future expectations.

BTW sidus, were living in Cary NC for your 2022 Solar Return?
