Forum Migration Update

Post by Jim Eshelman »

I underestimated how fast we could make the transition. I wrote all of you on the old forum a few days ago that this transition would take months. In fact, it is only taking days: Nearly all of it will be completed by today! With enormous help from Danica and Jupiter Sets At Dawn in particular, and several others, we’ve reduced from over 25,000 posts on the old site to about 5,000 posts – deleting some stuff, and moving the rest here, to our new home on Solunars.com.

For those who haven't finished moving all your old posts, we want your posts to travel with you if you want them to. We need your help; specifically, to move them or ask for help. At least please tell us what you want to happen.

We hope to bring the old site down at the end of Tuesday, May 16 (day after tomorrow). Before then, please either (A) move your posts to the new site, (B) mark for deletion those that you don’t want moved, (C) ask us for help in the process, (D) tell us to delete them all, or (E) at least tell us what else you would like to happen.

When you have copied over a thread, or if you don’t want a thread moved, please mark it, “Ready to delete.” (You can add a three-word post to the end, or edit the name of the first post in it to "Delete.")

If you don’t think you can do this before the end of Tuesday, let us know. Ask for help, or tell us what you need.

If we don’t hear from you, then sometime early Wednesday I will start deleting what’s left. (We may find a way to save some of what’s left behind, and will do so if we can; I just can’t promise that right now.)

I look forward to seeing you on the other side – and I appreciate your help in keeping this smooth.

Thanks.
