Bill Richardson RIP

Post by Jim Eshelman »

November 15, 1947, 11:35 AM PST, Pasadena, CA (AA)

Bill Richardson died in his sleep September 1 at his summer home in Chatham, MA. He served seven terms in Congress, replaced Madeleine Albright as U.N. ambassador when she became Secretary of State, and a year later became Secretary of Energy. He then served two terms of New Mexico's governor, being enormously popular (and reelected by a record-breaking margin). At the time he was the only Hispanic governor in the U.S. (though he also was descended from a Mayflower passenger).

After that, though, he turned to perhaps his greatest life's work, as an informal (and sometimes formal) ambassador negotiating (often successfully) the release of American's held captive by terrorist and totalitarian governments.

The guy was awesome. He impressed me left and right. I feel I knew him though we never met. (We had a day-to-day friend in common. (I still have his address and phone number in my phone contacts from when he was Senior Managing Director of Kissinger-McLarty at 1775 Pennsylvania Avenue. I suppose I should delete that now.) But I followed him a lot, somewhat keeping track of his efforts.

As a world-class diplomat, he had Sun in Libra and Moon in Sagittarius - perfect! His chart is super interesting if you want to dig into it, with Sun exactly at MC partile square an exact Mars-Saturn conjunction, Moon on the Galactic Center closely opposite Uranus, Mercury on Zenith, and more.

I don't know where his final SSR occurred. Wherever he was, Moon conjoined Saturn almost within a partile orb (and squared Uranus a little more widely).

His final SLR was August 26. In Chathan, it had transiting Mars 2° from IC and a more widely foreground Neptune. They were in close opposition.

Transiting Uranus was 4' from his IC (and was stationary there). This means Uranus was also opposite his Sun (35') and square his Saturn (21'). It's his main death aspect. (I don't yet know the circumstances and specific causes of death. Uranus isn't a usual death planet, but there is at least a major shift and disruption with this very strong transit.) Neptune was square his Uranus 19' (altered state of consciousness due to treatment?). Jupiter squared his Pluto less than half a degree (usually means "gain from loss" as in "welcome release").
