A 6.2 quake hit near Norcia, Italy, August 24, 2016. 1:36:33 UT, 42N42'50", 13E10'19". Almost an hour later, a 5.5m quake hit essentially the same place.

UPDATED: At least 298 died, with another 388 injured, and 2,500 were left homeless. The town of Amatrice is being reported as severely damaged; this morning, it's mayor says the town "is no more." (Tuesday night it was reported that half the town was in rubble.) Unknown numbers of people trapped in rubble, and, in the absence of electricity, precious daylight hours are being used to dig through rubble, call missing people's cell phones to see if they answer, etc. The quake "rattled Rome," which is 100 miles away.

For Italy, this feels like the present century's Avezzano, and is being reported similarly (but taken seriously far more quickly). The astrological indications are also far more acute and specific than for Avezzano.
