Hurricane Hermine

Hurricane Hermine landed as a hurricane and then degraded to a tropical storm as it headed toward Georgia and the Carolinas. (Tropical storm warnings have been issued along a stretch from New Jersey to Rhode Island.) New York Times lists 1:30 AM, September 2 as the time of landfall, quoting the National Hurricane Center; the location was just east of St. Marks, Florida, with sustained winds of 80 mph.

An observation about the current technological limitations in Sidereal Mundane Astrology.
Looking at the above, we had the capability to identify St. Marks (or someplace very close) as the exact spot where this would hit. That is, the system itself works, and singled this out from, e.g., the main body of Florida. What we do not have is a sufficiently sophisticated set of astrological software tools to make this easy, and/or a sufficient staff of astrologers to put in the several hours of work, running transparencies, scanning multiple layers of the charts, etc. to figure it out. A full time professional staff of less than a dozen could do this (people who showed up at work every day and did this kind of work for 8-hours with existing tools); or, a very few additional software tools (mostly involving layered and animating mapping and other small changes in astromapping) would accomplish it by one person in half an hour or so.
I didn't predict this fine detail myself, but the system predicted it correctly and finely. (And, for the record, I did correctly predict the broad strokes and the most vulnerable areas.)

"Malaysian Official 1" revealed

Still remember the Malaysian embezzlement case I posted about some time ago? And that there was an unnamed "Malaysian Official 1" linked to the case, alleged to be Malaysia's Prime Minister, Najib Tun Razak, but not mentioned explicitly? It is now.
Here you can watch Karishma Waswani skilfully getting her way through Abdul Rahman Dahlan—a senior government minister in Malaysia's cabinet—to drag out the skeleton out of the glass cupboard. Such a classic play of words that Rahman should have been wary of. What do I say, maybe he underestimated foreign press, thinking he'll tackle them the same way he does with the local, less skilful press?
But of course, expectedly, he said that the Prime Minister's name was not explicitly mentioned as he was "not involved" in the case. Oh puh-lease, yeah?
Kuala Lumpur's recent Canlunar had Sun and Saturn foreground, with Sun (0°58 from Asc in eclipto) closer than Saturn (2°08' from IC in mundo). Neptune is 2°35 from ecliptically squaring the MC. I guess Neptune's too far out? Should I even consider using ecliptical squares to the MC in SMA?

I'm just going to quote CNN's email summary this morning:
Venezuela is running out of just about everything. Medicine, electricity, toilet paper -- you name it. Inflation could rise by 700%. And food shortages are so severe that white-collar workers could be forced to work the fields. So, yesterday, frustrated residents packed the streets demanding a recall vote to remove the man they blame, President Nicolas Maduro. So far, "The Takeover of Caracas" has been peaceful. Here's what went wrong in a country that sits on the world's largest proven reserves of oil.
The CAPSOLAR is severe, and loudly says "it's all about the President." Sun conjoins M (and conjoins Mercury, Mars is near Descendant.
But the month is "all about the people," and is perfect to mark a populist uprising: The CAPLUNAR has a 0°35' Moon-Uranus square nd Moon is on MC. The CANLUNAR is thankfully dormant because, less than a degree of longitude later, it would have brought all three malefics plus Sun into action (and probably the president would be dead or otherwise gone by now).
For the DAY, besides the peaking Moon-Uranus CapQ progression we do get some violence yesterday: CapQ Ascendant conjoins transiting Mars, and hasn't cleared ingress Saturn yet. It's fascinating BTW to see how small differences in location can produce different effects: If the longitude and latitude were just a bit different, a different focus of the Sun, Mars, Saturn, and Neptune combinations would have been present when it peaked. (Venezuela had its Saturn-Neptune Q angularities most of a week ago, before Sun and its eclipse super-tweaked the combination yesterday.) The Cansolar also helped keep things peaceful, as Venus transiting its Descendant yesterday. Oh, but the CanQ did happen to have Cansolar Mars exactly angular.
This event interests me especially because it shows planetary patterns dynamic and shifting, day by day and even faster. The ingresses themselves show a quite clear backdrop (the exact kind of Sun vs. Moon trade-offs we've seen repeatedly from Arab Spring forward, as the relative voices of The Government vs. The People have shifted in dominance), and then the transiting planets' relationships to Capsolar and Cansolar angles and progressed angles makes it "live to the minute action news" shifting or evolving scenario. Quite interesting to watch.

A SpaceX rocket exploded on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral at 9:07 AM, September 1. The series of explosions lasted about four minutes. Nothing else at NASA / Cape Canaveral was damaged or affected.

Ah, I hadn't thought of this as an "event" - long-planned, long-politicked, etc. But the thronging crowd could be interesting. What time is it happening?
The CAPLUNAR has Pluto angular, square a more widely angular Uranus. There is also an even more widely foreground Moon. I hadn't thought of this in my prediction that the summer would see "break-out events for women," etc., but this is at least unique (and maybe unprecedented) given the speed with which it happened. The CANSOLAR puts the Moon most angular ("woman event"), brings the Moon-Jupiter square to the angles, and a slightly wider Jupiter-Pluto pair (not in aspect).
The CANLUNAR doesn't seem representative, with Sun and Saturn on angles, dragging Mars and Neptune along for the ride; but the Mercury-Venus conjunction squaring Ascendant seems on-target.
And the CapQ has Saturn on Midheaven for the day (Neptune squaring). Is this possibly going to turn ugly? An event like this normally wouldn't turn ugly, and the current Pope is enormously popular, so this is kinda strange. It even looks violent, with CanQ Asc square ingress Mars Sunday (well, it's in orb Sunday, and exact a day later).

It's happening during a Mass to be held in St. Peter's Square. Since those are usually around 80,000 people attending, things can get a bit fluid, so there's no way to pin it down ahead of time. I'm sure it'll be tweeted so we will have a time after the fact.

An unusual an worrisome earthquake hit Oklahoma - an area where underground waste water disposal has been changing the tectonic situation and quakes have increased an average 3.0 magnitude in the last several years.
The magnitude 5.6 quake hit near Pawnee, OK where there have been aftershocks all day. It struck today at 12:02:04 UT, 36N25'51'', 96W55'51''. This means that it occurred essentially at sunrise (Sun in the exact degree of Ascendant) with partile Sun opposite Neptune across the horizon, square Saturn on IC.

That earthquake sort of woke me up. I have been going to bed early and getting up late since I had the surgery, and thought it was the dog getting on the bed. Till I remembered I no longer have a dog. That woke me up!
The quake happened at 7:02 AM.
8:56 AM Governor Fallon tweeted the OK Corporation Commission was "at the office" reviewing disposal wells near the epicenter.
9:38 AM Governor Fallon tweeted the OK Corp Comm had told her they "had no data" on the fracking operations in the area because they are under federal control. Citizens started tweeting her back with the online locations of the information the OKCC said they didn't have.
12:15 PM Governor Fallon tweeted the OKCC was contacting well operators and telling them to shut the wells down.
I gather there was some pushback from the well operators because at
1:35 PM Governor Fallon tweeted the notice to shut down was a MANDATORY DIRECTIVE under the authority of the state of OK.
1:36 PM Governor Fallon tweeted the OKCC was in contact with the EPA, at 1:37 PM the size of the area and the number of wells in it, 1:38 PM the schedule for the shutdown (because if all of them get shut down at once, that'll cause earthquakes too.)
I'm not too worried about the earthquakes affecting the house, but there are three nuclear power plants in this area, one of which is in the process of being shut down after being damaged by floods a couple years ago, and there were some concerns at all three.

For those interested in the ship fire, the location of the spill was 29.762 N / 95.09092 W. (citation) They do not know for certain, but the Coast Guard suspects the ship hit something, "possibly a sewer pipe."
The only time given with precision is 12:08 AM CST, which is when they took action to shut down the shipping channel. Other than that, the time of first report is given as "around midnight." (citation)
And here's a link to some video posted of the fire. No lives lost. Video Link
I'm still watching, but this is the first thing I've considered a "hit" that I've found on my own, so... that's why I've been digging into it.

North Korea's nuclear warhead

North Korea claims it successfully tested a nuclear warhead in underground tests yesterday. This would be a significant threshold, and a significant acceleration of world threat level. The warhead, if genuine, was about 10 kilotons, or 2/3 the strength of the one we dropped on Hiroshima.

North Korea claims it successfully tested a nuclear warhead in underground tests yesterday. This would be a significant threshold, and a significant acceleration of world threat level. The warhead, if genuine, was about 10 kilotons, or 2/3 the strength of the one we dropped on Hiroshima.

Texas school shooting

This was a small event, as these things go. A school girl shot someone before killing herself. Given her age (14), and the general conditions, it nonetheless likely had a hard impact on the 6,500-population town of Alpine, TX at least.
This occurred September 8. Police were informed approximately 9:00 AM that students were fleeing the school, so the shooting apparently occurred about that time.
The CAPSOLAR shows an unusually pleasant year for Alpine. Venus squares Asc (1°39'), Jupiter is 4° above Descendant, and Neptune is 6° above Ascendant. The one eye-catcher which at all relates to this incident is the foreground mundane Venus-Neptune square (1°30') which activates a distinctive we see in most of these shootings. Despite reports that the shooter (new to the school district) was a good student and "doing well" in general, I bet we find out that it was adolescent angst, social displacement, and the rest of the Venus-Neptune cluster (though this one doesn't have the "performance art" feel of man other Venus-Neptune shootings).
The ARISOLAR (since the Cansolar is dormant) also has Venus angular - even closer - at 0°20' below Ascendant. The chart also has a foreground Sun-Uranus conjunction.
And, to keep the pattern going, the August 15 CAPLUNAR is extremely benefic. A widish Mercury-Jupiter conjunction has Jupiter exactly square MC (0°22') and Mercury on WP. Venus is less than 3° below Descendant, and Neptune just over 4° above Ascendant. So, mostly, it's a tightly angular Venus and Jupiter, a pronounced Mercury-Jupiter conjunction, and... here we go again - close Venus-Neptune opposition across the horizon. The chart is too benefic to call it a "hit," but it's totally consistent with "things are going really well" + the Venus-Neptune themes.
In case we weren't getting the message yet, the LIBLUNAR then has Venus within 3° of Descendant. That, and a widely angular Jupiter and Uranus, are the whole of the chart for Alpine. (Moon opposes Uranus, of course.)
So far, I wouldn't have pegged this event at all. It looks like a celebration, a great happiness. It absolutely SCREAMS that the event had to do (in a big, obvious way) with love, and most likely idealistic, "unobtainable" love.
TRANSITS TO THE CAPSOLAR bring the clear mark of violence, though: Transiting Mars squares Capsolar Asc 0°09' at the apparent time of the shooting. There are other minor details, but this is the main voice of the day in Alpine.
I hope we get a lot more information on this as the police investigation unfolds.

Syria Cease-Fire

In Geneva, Switzerland, the U.S. and Russia have successfully negotiated a cease-fire in Syria as an important step in both reducing the internal violence in Syria, and creating alliances willing and able to work against common enemies.
It was finalized in Geneva, shortly after midnight, September 10.
It goes into effect in Syria at sunset Monday, September 12, as a Muslim holiday, the Feast of the Sacrifice,ends. Then, one week later what the AP calls "an unlikely new military partnership" will become active to collaboratively target ISIL and Al-Qaida.
Because wrapping things up was taking so along (as Sec. Kerry spent hours on the phone with resistant U.S. security heads), the U.S. sent in boxes of pizza for reporters. Russia, seeing they had nothing to drink with their pizza, sent in cases of vodka
For the negotiation success...
There really isn't much going on in Geneva, and we find seems off. For example, the CapQ has MC near Saturn and square Neptune. (Some might say that this shows a malicious outcome for the agreement; I'm more concerned that it doesn't seem to show the event. It's possible, though that it shows the actual tone in the difficult negotiation; I have no way to know...
I do notice transiting Mercury exactly conjunct Capsolar Jupiter. Someplace in the word, this is exactly on an angle, so... where is that? I can't see that it's anyplace relevant - not Washington, nor Moscow, nor Geneva, nor Syria.
The key in Geneva was hard to find. It seems to be this: The Liblunar is dormant, so the effective ingress of the week is the Canlunar, which has Jupiter partile square Ascendant.
For the cease-fire...
Using Damascus as a useful location, sunset is 6:41 PM. The chart itself looks very uneasy, since the setting Sun is conjunct Mercury (29') and square Mars (26'), with Mercury-Mars square 13'. This does not seem to be a moment when fighting stops. But... what do the more binding charts show?
The Damascus CANSOLAR has Pluto on WP (0°52'), along with the universal Moon-Jupiter square. Of particular note - quite striking note, in fact - is in the Cansolar mundoscope. Though not the most angular planets, Mercury, Venus, and Uranus are foreground (all about 7° from the angles) and within very tight mundane formation that is the single most promising signal of truly successful peace I've seen yet:
7°10' before Asc Mercury
7°07' before MC Uranus
7°13' before Asc Venus
And the new CAPLUNAR is at least transformative - good, bad, or indifferent - in matters of international relations among other Venus-Pluto themes:
19°46' Sag Asc
20°00' Sag Pluto [0°45' above Asc]

Furthermore, the CAPSOLAR QUOTIDIAN brings the same forces to bear. With Descendant 20°31' Virgo, transiting Venus (21°38' Virgo) and Pluto (20°00' Sagittarius) are angular, and the Venus exactly opposes the partile CapQ Moon-Uranus conjunction (Uranus 21°47' Pisces, Moon 22°34' Pisces). This is as good as any "relationships change, moving toward peace" chart I've seen in the various wars I've studied.
And, just for icing on the cake, the Cansolar (which, by now, we don't need) has IC 22°42' Virgo, receiving the Venus transit also.
If this works, it will be a very big deal, and one of those historic examples of Sidereal mundane astrology that people come back to for decades.

Bangladesh Boiler Explosion

In Tongi, Bangladesh (outside Dhaka), a boiler exploded at 6:00 AM Saturday (9/10), setting the entire building afire and killing at least 23 people. At least 50 others were injured.
This isn't nearly as bad as other industrial accidents Bangladesh has experienced in the last few years, but it's bad.

The only way to get attention is to predict. Reliably and consistantly.
Someone, (cough:Jim:cough) needs to post predictions regularly on facebook and eventually twitter. As specific as possible. Posts with maps showing the planetary lines get more attention than posts without maps. (Jim already has "astrological cred" that most of the rest of us don't. So I think it needs to be mostly him at first. I think Jim is already working on this.
But Steve and others {who have already been posting there} could post parts of and links and reviews of Jim's predictions to other boards like skyscript after getting permission from Jim.)
We need to ignore tropicalists and ayanamsa baiters. If somebody gets insistent, tell that person to start a new thread for their own predictions and stop answering their posts.
We need a very specific "protocol" written out in numbered steps on how to cast these charts for specific areas and exactly what to look for to predict. Something someone with no astrological experience at all but a copy of solar fire can set up and run. Numbered step by numbered step. Think of your favorite uncle buying a copy of solar fire in order to run the charts. That level of specificity with screen shots. So when people do actually get interested, they can do it too.
Eventually we need a written protocol for most astrological programs, beginning with the least expensive ones. If a program can't do these charts accurately, we need to say so.

The military declared the cease fire ended. Too many breaches by the other side, they said.

Furthermore, the CAPSOLAR QUOTIDIAN brings the same forces to bear. With Descendant 20°31' Virgo, transiting Venus (21°38' Virgo) and Pluto (20°00' Sagittarius) are angular, and the Venus exactly opposes the partile CapQ Moon-Uranus conjunction (Uranus 21°47' Pisces, Moon 22°34' Pisces). This is as good as any "relationships change, moving toward peace" chart I've seen in the various wars I've studied.
And, just for icing on the cake, the Cansolar (which, by now, we don't need) has IC 22°42' Virgo, receiving the Venus transit also.
If this works, it will be a very big deal, and one of those historic examples of Sidereal mundane astrology that people come back to for decades.

Pakistan train wreck

Near Multan, Pakistan, a passenger train and a freight train collided pre-dawn today, killing six people and wounding at least 150. It was a "layered gruesome" event because the freight train was originally stopped for track cleanup after a suicide leapt in front of it. (I'll use 5:00 AM as an approximate time.)
The CAPSOLAR suggested a positive, prosperous, festive year for the region. Venus on IC square rising Jupiter (and just a little touch of Saturn). However, the CANSOLAR suggests violence and injury, with Mars square Ascendant (along with the universal Moon-Jupiter square).
Concentrating this and breaking the tie, the CAPLUNAR has Saturn < 3° from MC, a few minutes from square Neptune.
For the DAY, we still have the CapQ's progressed Moon-Uranus conjunction and Mars' conjunction with Cansolar Moon (squared also by t. Sun). The region has a minor suggestion of "transportation" and "news" themes, with transiting Mercury crossing the Capsolar Ascendant (14' at 5 AM). The CanQ seems too benefic until we notice that it is playing not just Venus, but Venus + Pluto themes.

A Talibani suicide bomber "blew himself up in a packed mosque" (Reuters) killing at least 25 people and wounding 30 others September 16, about 2 PM, in a small village of Anbar Tehsil about 50 miles from Peshawar, Pakistan.
Since I can't find coordinates for the village, I'll use Peshawar, though that is nearly a degree off.
The CANSOLAR has Mars on IC. The CAPLUNAR has Saturn at MC, square Neptune. No daily indications are evident (perhaps better location coordinates would help?).

Minnesota stabbings

This seems a minor local event which, however, is now being nationalized by being investigated as a terrorist attack.
A man stabbed nine people in St. Cloud, MN Saturday night, September 17, 8:00 PM,after first asking of they were Muslim. Nobody died (or were even seriously injured) by the assailant. ISIL took credit for the incident.
The prevailing solar ingress is the ARISOLAR, with Uranus on EP and Pluto on MC.
The CAPLUNAR (month, week), in addition to the Moon-Uranus square, has Mars on IC square Mercury rising, so this does have the marks of "planned, executed" event - more military style and symbolism than typical murder attempts. (There's some Sun, too.)
DAY events were marked primarily by transiting Jupiter having reached WP and Dsc of the local Capsolar. (Well, and there's still the CapQ Moon-Uranus conjunction, barely.) Oh, and transiting Mars conjoins CanQ Moon (everywhere in the world).
The area was vaguely flagged in my monthly forecast. Under the Caplunar, for non-Washington locations, I wrote:
MARS, SUN, MERCURY: The Houston area (and, more generally, the eastern half of Texas) has these three clustered.
Sun & Mars then cut through Oklahoma City and near Wichita, on through the Dakotas.

Tulsa shooting by police

A police office shot and killed an unarmed man with raised hands in Tulsa on the night of September 16, in response to a 911 call about a vehicle left parked in the middle of the street. (In fact, the man had car trouble.) The 911 call was "sometime after 7:30 PM;" I'll estimate the incident at 8 PM, which was shortly after sunset at 7:35.
The incident is naturally inflammatory because, again, it was the shooting of an unarmed black man by a white cop (in this case, just for variety, the cop was a woman).
Yesterday, Tulsa PD released audio and video recordings of the incident, and that's when the inflammation broke into conflagration.
The CAPLUNAR placed Tulsa at ground zero for the worst aspects in the nation, indicative of violence and the involvement of the authorities. The only thing that could have made it better would be indications of error, e.g., Neptune:

Mercury on Asc (0°25')
Sun on Asc (1°18')

(2) Light a match and toss it onto the poured gasoline surface.

Congo protests

Protests against the Congo president, and resulting clashes with national security forces, resulted in 17 deaths yesterday, September 19, in Kinshasa (Leopoldville), Congo. The official position of the government is that this was not a legal demonstration but, rather, "an attempt to unleash civil war in the city of Kinshasa," so they put it down, according to AP.
NY Times reported "busted glass, smouldering fires, torched cars, empty streets, hundreds of police officers clumped on the corners...," which sounds very Mars-driven to me.
Checking for about noon yesterday...
The CAPSOLAR shows a year of instability, revolt, etc., with Pluto closely setting, square Uranus (among other features). Populist response is shown in the CANSOLAR where the universal Moon-Jupiter square falls right on the angles - Moon angular without Sun is the classic mark of "people rising up" (and if there's Uranus or Pluto in the room, it's "populist revolt").
Caplunar and Arilunar have nothing but the universal Moon-Uranus aspects, but the flowing-through LIBLUNAR has Pluto 0°07' from MC square a ore widely rising Uranus.
For the DAY, we get... just as predicted... transiting Mars on CapQ Midheaven, square its Ascendant (in fact, for confrontation with authorities, it's a Sun-Mars square on the CapQ angles). Longer-term, Uranus remains in orb of conjunct Capsolar Midheaven. Transiting Mars conjoins CanQ Moon (we've been seeing that a lot lately). Oh, and, yikes, transiting Mars is also exactly on Cansolar Descendant. (OK, I got the Mars I predicted would be here.)
Altogether, an exceptionally fitting set of charts, utterly consistent with dozens we have seen of similar events.

There was just a video of the shooting in Charlotte released, that was taken by his wife! It's heartbreaking to hear her calling out asking if anyone has called an ambulance, and then calling one herself. The gun the police claim he had that landed by his foot doesn't show from the angle this was filmed from.
His wife was also shouting at police before they shot her husband telling them he had a traumatic brain injury but wouldn't hurt them. She was trying to let them know he couldn't understand the shouting. She was also trying to talk to her husband to get him to cooperate.
The man killed in Tulsa was partially deaf and blind in one eye and also probably couldn't understand the officers shouting at him.

These shooting circumstances are terrible/sickening! IMO, pure ugly Mars-Saturn-Neptune symbolism manifesting from DC's current Canlunar tied to the Capsolar throughout the country , which Jim's foresight isolated with his work with SMA. We can never know the specific manifestations with SMA, but are seeing through SMA how non-dormant astrological symbolism manifests in the country.

The police and officials in Charlotte are saying they "can't" release the video of the killing of Mr. Scott because of the new NC law that dashcam and bodycam video are no longer public record are not mentioning that law doesn't take effect till October 1, 2016. It does not cover this police killing. I believe Mars-Saturn-Neptune covers out and out lying by government officials.

A while ago, there was a large undersea earthquake just off Japan. I haven't been able to find anything on it from the major news outlets, though, just my RSS aggregator.
USGS, though, gives the particulars: magnitude 6.3, 93 miles ESE of Katsuura, Japan..
September 23, 2016, 0:14:34 UT, 34N30'03'', 141E44'24''.
I just found some reporting on The Telegraph. So far, no deaths, 17 injuries, some buildings damaged. No tsunami. I see a couple of more Japan quakes since that one, between 4.5 and 5.0. Evidently, this one is not a big deal.

Flooding in Iowa

Wednesday night after heavy rains upriver totaling over 12 inches, Greene and Clarksville, IA began sandbagging in preparation for flooding. 5:45 AM Thursday morning (Sept 22, 2016) a tv crew trying to get into Greene observed the water rising in the ditches alongside the roads, and had to turn around before they got into town. All streets were underwater by noon.
The Shell Rock and Winnebago Rivers began to rise. The city of Cedar Falls had been sandbagging since Wednesday, but Friday at 5PM called for help when flood waters began to arrive earlier than expected. At 8:55 PM, people were asked to clear cars from the streets so they wouldn't float into buildings as the water came up. (Cedar Rapids has flooded before and is experienced in how to prepare.)
The flood waters in Cedar Rapids are expected to crest Tuesday morning, and subside late next week.
Sept 23, 2016, the town of Waterloo closed all the bridges over the Cedar River and began walling the river in with sandbags.
Branstadt declared a disaster for 13 counties Friday, at about 4:30 PM.
More rain is expected tomorrow evening and into the night from another big storm.

Thanks for collating this. I saw a news piece yesterday that Iowa had some flooding, and didn't dig into it.
From what I've seen so far with flooding, charts tend to have Saturn-Neptune active plus abundant indications of rain, especially Jupiter. Taking only a quick look at the astro maps posted in the September forecast thread, we don't have any of that. What we do have is that Arilunar Pluto line that has been causing so much trouble through, say, Tulsa as an aftermath to the prior week's more pointed ingress.

I expect there will be little to no loss of life, even though the flood is rising faster than expected. Plenty of property damage, but not as much as when this same thing happened a few years ago. Besides knowing where sandbags are likely to do the most good, and prefilling and getting them in place well ahead of time, the government is trying to protect bridges and infrastructure. Pretty much everyone in the area now has flood insurance as well.
But pretty much the entire river basin is going to be underwater. This is a huge and slow moving flood.
Another consequence is the costs of carpeting and drywall and plywood will go up again.
A lot of what's getting flooded (and can't be protected) is some of the best farmland, and harvest is just starting. I expect ethanol prices to go up, and meat because the soy beans will be flooded out too.

The city of Cedar Falls had been sandbagging since Wednesday, but Friday at 5PM called for help when flood waters began to arrive earlier than expected. At 8:55 PM, people were asked to clear cars from the streets so they wouldn't float into buildings as the water came up. (Cedar Rapids has flooded before and is experienced in how to prepare.)
The flood waters in Cedar Rapids are expected to crest Tuesday morning, and subside late next week.
Sept 23, 2016, the town of Waterloo closed all the bridges over the Cedar River and began walling the river in with sandbags.
Branstadt declared a disaster for 13 counties Friday, at about 4:30 PM.
More rain is expected tomorrow evening and into the night from another big storm.

Thanks for collating this. I saw a news piece yesterday that Iowa had some flooding, and didn't dig into it.
From what I've seen so far with flooding, charts tend to have Saturn-Neptune active plus abundant indications of rain, especially Jupiter. Taking only a quick look at the astro maps posted in the September forecast thread, we don't have any of that. What we do have is that Arilunar Pluto line that has been causing so much trouble through, say, Tulsa as an aftermath to the prior week's more pointed ingress.

I expect there will be little to no loss of life, even though the flood is rising faster than expected. Plenty of property damage, but not as much as when this same thing happened a few years ago. Besides knowing where sandbags are likely to do the most good, and prefilling and getting them in place well ahead of time, the government is trying to protect bridges and infrastructure. Pretty much everyone in the area now has flood insurance as well.
But pretty much the entire river basin is going to be underwater. This is a huge and slow moving flood.
Another consequence is the costs of carpeting and drywall and plywood will go up again.
A lot of what's getting flooded (and can't be protected) is some of the best farmland, and harvest is just starting. I expect ethanol prices to go up, and meat because the soy beans will be flooded out too.

Miami pitcher Jose Fernandez, a shining light of the franchise, died in a boating accident early Sunday, somewhere just off the Florida coast.
It looks like the last non-dormant lunar ingress for Miami was the August 28 Canlunar. It is distinctive to Miami because Sun squares MC by half a degree - I hadn't thought of that when I made my "shining light" remark above - and, of course, Mars-Saturn are conjoined in the upper foreground, closely square (mundanely) that Sun.
One more example... (And, with that example, we are past the August 28 Canlunar and we have a new one to wrestle with.)
Transiting Pluto conjoins Miami's Capsolar MV (37'). The CanQ Ascendant this morning is 17° Taurus, which hits transiting Saturn and ingress Neptune.

Houston minimall shootings

About 6:30 AM this morning, several people were shot in a Houston mini-mall. Although it's flashing up on news sources, it would seem entirely a local event were it not the third mall assault in the last week or so (with nobody dying or being seriously hurt in any of them except the assailants).
Houston was highlighted in the monthly forecast as in the crosshairs for violence, with Sun-Mars + Mercury slicing through there in the Caplunar. Similarly, eastern Texas was mentioned for the same under the Canlunar, and the new Canlunar for Houston specifically has Mars 2°36' above Descendant, Neptune 3°12' east of MC, and a resulting 0°36' Mars-Neptune mundane square, plus Saturn 0°31' from WP (something the maps in the monthly forecast couldn't show). It's a malevolent Caplunar-Canlunar pair. (The Cansolar already set the longer-term trends with Mars partile square Ascendant.)

Missed that. The guy arrested apparently broke up with a girlfriend who works at a Macy's makeup counter, although nobody's sure if she worked at that store or another one and he just picked this one. He's also got a number of previous arrests including for assault, and has been described as rude and obnoxious by the neighbors.

One of Israel's founders, a former president and PM, and a great advocate for peace, Shimon Peres, died early yesterday (September 28) in Tel Aviv, following a massive stroke September 13.
Israel's CANSOLA has Sun closely rising, suggesting that a head of state or national hero would be a center of attention (among other possible interpretations), and it is partile square Uranus. Pluto is on WP and, as for the whole world, Moon squares Jupiter.
The CAPLUNAR for Jerusalem has Pluto rising (partile). The CANLUNAR is more of "the shock when it came" sort of chart, with Uranus on WP, and Pluto and Moon also foreground more widely (Moon square Uranus, of course).
For the DAY, CapQ angles highlighted progressed Moon and transiting Uranus (a sense of "family" or intimacy + surprise). The CanQ also brought progressed Moon to an angle in Jerusalem. This is a particularly lunar event for Israel. Transiting Pluto continues to sit on the Cansolar WP.

Possible veto override

The Senate (which is about half Democrat) just voted 97-1 to override Obama's veto of the bill allowing Americans to sue Saudi Arabia with respect to 9/11 damages.
That's an enormously high figure! If the House pulls off a two-thirds vote in the same direction (which, I guess, election year politics makes likely), we have a first veto override.
I don't see much in the charts to suggest this, other than the general sense of instability and dire conditions. The veto itself was under the old Canlunar that had Sun 4' from an angle, and was at least a strong presidential assertion. This override is not all that clear.
One thing that I haven't thought to mention is that CanQ Moon (progressed Cansolar Moon) has been in partile conjunction with Cansolar MC for a couple of weeks.

Two children and a teacher were shot, but nobody died, be a gunner at Townville Elementary School in Townville, SC, early afternoon today.

It happened a year ago... but the public effect is happening now. Does the event show up now astrologically?
Twelve months ago, in Marksville, LA, police fired repeatedly into a car after a chase, and inadvertently landed five bullets in the driver's 6-year-old son's head and chest. The police on site and to their managers later viewing the bodycam footage, were uniformly horrified to say the least.
Two of the cops have been indicted on second degree murder and attempted murder.
Marksville's CAPSOLAR is rather simple, with Moon rising - typical of stories involving children. I'm interested in these charts BTW in comparison to the Trayvon shootings where there was little indication when the shooting (initially an isolated local event) occurred, but sudden astrological activity in lunar ingresses, especially with Moon involvement, when the story ballooned.
As for most of Louisiana, Marksville has a CANSOLAR with Saturn and Neptune on the angles.
The CAPLUNAR looks violent for right now, even though the violence isn't occurring right now, I suppose the rising Sun-Mercury square Mars on IC refers to a public reaction. Most gruesome, though, in terms of public reaction is the September 24 CANLUNAR:

Hoboken train wreck

In Hoboken, NJ, a rush-hour train ran literally hit the station causing lots of damage. There are apparently at least 100 injuries, but I don't yet have solid word on number of injuries or whether there are casualties.
Based on tweets, I'd guess this happened about 6:00 AM.
The general area has been waiting for something like this all year. In the CAPSOLAR, the most angular planet is Mars, < 2° above Descendant and in 1°51' mundane square to Mercury, < 4° from MC. The Moon-Uranus-Pluto square structure is quite close mundanely for the area also.
Besides all the ongoing Moon-Uranus in the lunar ingresses, we have the CANLUNAR
with a mix of planets - Sun-Jupiter conjunction o IC closest, then Pluto setting, Mars widely on WP, Moon widely rising - good enough, I suppose, but nothing that hits the ball squarely.
That Jupiter-Sun also sits on the CapQ MC. (We don't know about casualties yet, or underlying causes; the clear Sun-Jupiter message could be tied up with either, otherwise it's a solid misfire.) We also get Uranus and Venus transiting Capsolar angles.
The CanQ, though, is much more conventionally accurate. Transiting Mars is 0°06' from CanQ Descendant, transiting Saturn is 0°45' from CanQ WP.
Probably more to follow.

A spokeswoman for NJ Transit said train No. 1614 crashed into the Hoboken train station around 8:45 a.m. It left Spring Valley, N.Y. at 7:23 a.m. I've heard "shortly before 9 AM" on ABC news.
The train didn't slow coming into the station. It crashed into the boarding area and part of the roof of the station collapsed onto the train. So far, there are 3 known fatalities. ABC news said there are reports "something" had happened to the train engineer, maybe a heart attack? Nobody knows yet.

Several news outlets have updated their stories to say "at least one person" has died (a woman waiting on the concourse) rather than the "at least 3" they were saying before. One hospital said at least 50 injuries, but news stories have stayed with "at least 100" injuries.

For that location, the CAPSOLAR had Mars 1°42' from Dsc, Mercury 3°33' from MC, Mercury-Mars mundane square 1°59', and the Moon-Uranus-Pluto mundane square structure peripherally foreground.
Transiting Uranus is only 0°06' from Capsolar EP for the impact site.
But, as mentioned before, the real capper was the CanQ. I have another post around here somewhere citing the high number of times a vehicle in transit passed under a Mars line and, at that exact spot, hit something. The distances are smaller here, and the orbs (though impressive) aren't in the 03' range of some... but it's one more example of the familiar pattern.

Several news outlets have updated their stories to say "at least one person" has died (a woman waiting on the concourse) rather than the "at least 3" they were saying before. One hospital said at least 50 injuries, but news stories have stayed with "at least 100" injuries.

The time is now confirmed as 8:45 AM, with Tweets starting to flood the Internet by 8:46. (I really wish when East Coast based news sources, writing an East Coast story, include tweets as graphics, they wouldn't use West Coast time. I saw so many posts just before and after 6 AM...) Per Google Maps, the Hoboken Transit Terminal is 40N44'03'', 74W01'46''.
For that location, the CAPSOLAR had Mars 1°42' from Dsc, Mercury 3°33' from MC, Mercury-Mars mundane square 1°59', and the Moon-Uranus-Pluto mundane square structure peripherally foreground.
Transiting Uranus is only 0°06' from Capsolar EP for the impact site.
But, as mentioned before, the real capper was the CanQ. I have another post around here somewhere citing the high number of times a vehicle in transit passed under a Mars line and, at that exact spot, hit something. The distances are smaller here, and the orbs (though impressive) aren't in the 03' range of some... but it's one more example of the familiar pattern.

Notice that transiting Mars is 37' past the CanQ angle, and Saturn is 06' before the angle. Their average orb is 15'.

Alabama Chief Justice suspended

Alabama's Chief Justice was suspended today (what, again?!) for his defiance of Supreme Court rulings interpreting the U.S. Constitution on issues of gay marriage.
Mostly, Alabama is treating this as a Jupiter event, perhaps because of its effect on the judiciary. The Birmingham Caplunar has Jupiter rising. Today's CapQ has ingress Jupiter at Midheaven, and then brings the Saturn-Neptune transiting square (removals) to Ascendant.

Judiciary and religion.
Would be nice if that Saturn-Neptune meant removing religion from the judiciary, but I think that would take more than one aspect.

An interesting article in NY Times this morning describes, I think, the cultural battles around religion and social values these last few years. I attribute this to the Uranus-Pluto square occurring in Pisces and Sagittarius.

Yeah. The gallery owner knew within the first 5 minutes the couple was gay. Instead of saying, sorry, we can't accommodate you then, he dragged it out for 45 minutes, creating visions of flower arrangements and gluten free meals, while he decided between making money and having a smug story to tell his Friday Bible Class. That's not about being a Christian. It's about not having basic manners.
