Chaos & the exec order blocking immigrants

Post by Jim Eshelman »

(Jan 29, 2017)

According to New York Times, President Trump signed his executive order barring many foreigners from entering the United State at 4:42 PM Friday (January 27). The order "suspended entry of all refugees to the United States for 120 days, barred Syrian refugees indefinitely, and blocked entry into the United States for 90 days for citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries." Even green card holders from the barred countries were prevented from reentering the country if they had left.

Chaos resulted in its enforcement, in the protests and other resistance, and eventually in a federal judge barring enforcement of part of the order which required "deporting some arrivals who found themselves ensnared by the presidential order." It is unclear whether a broader ruling on the law will issue. (The ruling came in NYC just before 9 PM, as a Venus-Saturn aspect rolled exactly to the angles in Washington. The New Moon was, by then, 0°56' separated.)

In any case, the courts were strongly involved in what NYT called a "high-stakes legal case [that] played out on Saturday amid global turmoil."

What did the chart show? It occurred close to the incoming New Moon (Luna was just 1°09' from Sun, and they were approaching Descendant together). However, mundanely they were only 0°01' from exact conjunction (6° above Dsc)!

Most pronounced, at the moment ink went to paper:

Mercury on WP (0°24')
Pluto square MC (0°39')
-- Mercury conj. Pluto (2°30')

Uranus on MC (2°53')
Jupiter on IC (6°28')
-- Jupiter op. Uranus (2°04')

Sun-Moon sq. Jupiter mundanely < 1°

I think all the pieces are there - you should have no trouble sorting them out. Mercury marked the moment an order was signed, Mercury-Pluto shows the type of order, Sun-Jupiter and Moon-Jupiter cover numerous themes. The opposition of the people, the courts, the press, and the international community is all over these placements. Do not miss that culminating Uranus is in Pisces and the Mercury-Pluto is in Sagittarius.

It is a chaotic, elitist, and evidently illegal order. Here, for fun, are the pre-written boiler plate aspect interpretations from Chapter 7 of SMA: Some of them (I admit shamelessly) are pretty right on! (Don't miss the Moon-Sun aspect.)

Mercury-Pluto. Major collisions, whether of information, communication, or vehicles. (Collisions of ideas are most common.) Consequences, stunning the intellect, often are so impactful that they are paradigm changing, significantly reframing how people think about things.

Jupiter-Uranus. Ideological rebellion (both peaceful and violent). Remapping the larger social contract (liberal social and political agendas demand wider horizons, expanded opportunities, civil liberties, enhanced diversity). Inventiveness, new technology and tech vision, futurism, “good science” that engages popular imagination. Political and thought leaders show more insight, resourcefulness, and ability to understand and manage complexity. At best, collective optimism and anticipation of good change. Shadow expression: the rise and growth of fascism, or radical nationalism. (Common for bridge collapses.)

Moon-Sun. A spotlight shines on events. Particularly, circumstances draw great attention from the government, yet fixate the attention of the people as a whole. Typical events range from fires to significant weddings (or matters that affect the institution of marriage), as well as matters inciting national pride and events drawing concentrated government attention, perhaps because of regulation or mandatory oversight.

Sun-Jupiter. Intensified and highlighted Jupiter themes. Usually, positive events, with protection against deeper harm; but this is not always the case. Politics egg on current circumstances, motivated by a non-philanthropic tendency of people with money and power wanting more.

Moon-Jupiter. A period of growing prosperity with less newsworthy disaster and hurt than usual. Diplomacy, dignity, and elitism prevail. Most pronounced is a theme of “our people first,” i.e., strong elements of national pride, patriotism, family, community, and standing first for those groups with which one identifies. This can be divisive as well as unifying. Hurtful events, under Moon-Jupiter, will carry this narrowness just as much as positive events benefit from the inspired togetherness.

Incidentally, neither the old New Moon (still technically in force when the order was signed), the intervening Full Moon, nor the newly minted New Moon charts showed any of this.

Unless, of course, one counts the mundane conjunction instead of the ecliptical one. This would be a hard matter to investigate adequately, but is worth noting. If that were the case, then the New Moon for Washington would be essentially the moment the order was signed, with all the operative factors listed above.
