Nikki Haley

Post by Jim Eshelman »

We may have an increasing need for a timed birth chart for Nikki Haley in the near future. She was born January 20, 1972 in Bamberg, SC, time unknown.

As a Capricorn-Aquarius (or possibly Capricorn-Pisces), she doesn't have the chart to succeed Biden or Trump as President - that would require Taurus-Scorpio or Libra-Aries luminaries. Nonetheless, she may be a significant player - if not one of the TWO most significant players - in the new year.

Capricorn-Aquarius... "a Capricorn with an Aquarius style"... the conservative who sounds like a liberal.

1996 Sep 7 - married
No obvious transits nor lunar progressions that affect a birth time. One strange solar arc is that d Saturn at 0°20' Gemini was potentially square natal Moon, which is unfitting, suggesting no birth time in early afternoon.
2004 Jun 22 - Won nomination to state House seat (which guaranteed her the election)
2004 Nov 2 - Elected to South Carolina House of Representatives (unopposed)
2005 Jan 11 - began term in South Carolina House of Representatives
June 22 has often been a significant date for her. She won two important run-offs on that calendar day and announced her pivotal change-of-mind about removing the Confederate flag from statehouse grounds on a June 22. This might have Sun square her Moon but I don't think Moon could be that late. It may be nothing more than Sun square her Pluto.

In 2004, it occurred as directed Jupiter conjoined natal Sun, showing her serious entry into elected political office. The direction lasted throughout the year of her campaigning, winning the nomination, winning the nomination unopposed, and taking office.
2009 May 14 - Announced run for governor
2009 Jun 22 - Won Republican nomination for governor
2010 Nov 2 - Elected South Carolina Governor
2011 Jan 12 - became South Carolina Governor
When she announced her candidacy, p Moon was 2° past square to progressed Mars. I'm not sure that's the right aspect - perhaps showing competition - but I mention it as a note along the way. What makes it interesting, is that the noon-based directed Moon is just over 2° past square to natal Sun as she began to run for governor. That would be a pretty solid double-hit!

Progressions are more ambiguous for when she took office as governor almost two years later; but that two-year cycle is very eye-catching. If d Moon had JUST moved into 1° of square her Sun when she announced, that puts Moon 3°22' earlier than its noon position. At 14°09'/day, that suggests a birth time about 5:45 before noon, or 6:15 AM as a broad estimate. It's only a first estimate, but it IS our first good lead.
2013 Jul - Fined $3,500 by State Ethics Commission (failed to report donor addresses in 2010)
This probably means not a noon or just before noon birth since that would give a progressed Moon-Jupiter square. The "3° earlier" theory would give a progressed Moon-Pluto conjunction instead. (That would put Moon-Jupiter during her successful bid for reelection as governor.)
2017 Jan 22 - Confirmed by Senate (as UN Ambassador) 96-4
2017 Jan 24 - resigned as SC governor
2017 Jan 27 - became U.S. Ambassador to U.N.
Transiting Saturn's possible square to natal Moon again rules out a "noon or soon before" time - and if Moon is just a little later, transiting Mars would be on it (also an exact progressed Moon-Mars opposition). So none no time near noon seems likely for a 96% Yes vote.
2018 Oct 9 - Announced her resignation as U.N. ambassador (effective Dec 31) [it was one day after a watchdog group accused her of accepting seven luxury plane trips as gifts]
Progressed Moon is almost exactly 2° past conjunction with Neptune - an embarrassment (though of course her staff said the two incidents were unrelated). I'm starting to really like this sunrisish broad time as a starting point.
2023 Feb 14 - Announced campaign for U.S. President
She announced this as Pluto was nearing its first conjunction with her Sun. The real two-year cycle here is going to be this Pluto to Sun transit, regardless of birth time. And, once again, if progressed Moon were 2.5° earlier, it would have conjoined natal Sun! There are just too many instances of natal Moon needing to be 2-3° earlier than a noon position... I have to take it seriously. (Wait, it's double: That would also put progressed Sun conjunct natal Moon for the same date!)

For a tentative working birth time of 6:15 AM, for February 14, 2023 we find:

26°36' Aqu - r Moon
26°42' Aqu - p Sun

4°40' Cap - p Moon
5°09' Cap - r Sun

I think we are definitely playing in the right ballpark!

I'll make another pass through these dates using this trial time of 6:15 AM.

Started with a first-trial birth time of 6:15 AM, looking again at the events with transits, secondary progressions, and Solar Arc directions. The chart has natal MC 4°20' Libra, Asc 15°12' Sagittarius (but the MC isn't useful since it exactly squares natal Sun).
1996 Sep 7 - married
Transiting Jupiter 13° Sagittarius just before Asc. d Moon co r Mars 0°08'.

LATER: If MC is moved back 2°, d Pluto conjoins it for the wedding.
2004 Jun 22 - Won nomination to state House seat (which guaranteed her the election)
2004 Nov 2 - Elected to South Carolina House of Representatives (unopposed)
2005 Jan 11 - began term in South Carolina House of Representatives
For winning the nomination, mixed signs, with p Moon op r Neptune 6' and square natal Sun 2°+, etc. d Jupiter conjunct r Sun makes d Jupiter to r MC impossible to judge.

By election day, t Jupiter was 13° Virgo - potentially square Asc and square the exact degree of Jupiter when she was married. This is starting to suggest a birth time eight minutes earlier with 13° Sagittarius rising. (This would also put d Venus square her Ascendant for winning and assuming the state House position.)
2009 May 14 - Announced run for governor
2010 Jun 22 - Won Republican nomination for governor
2010 Nov 2 - Elected South Carolina Governor
2011 Jan 12 - became South Carolina Governor
Announced: t Venus 15° Pisces sq this Ascendant. Progressed Moon-Mars op 41' applying. d Moon sq r Sun 46' minutes applying.
Won nomination: d Moon sq r Sun 20' sep.
Won election: p Moon had not crossed into partile orb of Saturn. d Moon sq r Sun 42' sep. Directed Saturn, though, had entered partile orb of r Dsc (unless angles were 2° earlier as it looks likely).
Became governor: p Moon-Saturn sq 48' sep. d Saturn op r Asc unless angles are earlier (as seems likely).
2013 Jul - Fined $3,500 by State Ethics Commission (failed to report donor addresses in 2010)
This will depend on a better defined birth time. It could have been Pluto to her Asc but that seems heavy for something that blew over quickly and began a non-event. I suspect it was the slighter, faster, but important p Moon-Pluto co exact to the minute for this trial birthtime (with Moon-Jupiter following within weeks).
2013 Aug 12 - Announced a re-election run as governor (won 11/4)
Perhaps the Jupiter-Pluto transiting opposition was across her Asc axis.
2017 Jan 22 - Confirmed by Senate (as UN Ambassador) 96-4
2017 Jan 24 - resigned as SC governor
2017 Jan 27 - became U.S. Ambassador to U.N.
p Venus 3°45' may have been on natal IC but not yet aspecting natal Sun - it would be appropriate. Nothing much from these particular techniques.
2018 Oct 9 - Announced her resignation as U.N. ambassador (effective Dec 31) [it was one day after a watchdog group accused her of accepting seven luxury plane trips as gifts]
If this was in response to the embarrassing event, the clear hit is p Moon-Neptune conjunction 12'.
2023 Feb 14 - Announced campaign for U.S. President
Besides Pluto conjunct her Sun (and potentially square her MC), we find Jupiter at 13°43' - exactly opposite and square it's positions for her wedding (13°09' Sag) and her first elected office (13°17' Virgo), suggesting very strongly that her Asc is where all three of these hit. - As mentioned before, this gives progressed Sun conjunct her Moon (6' sep) and progressed Moon conjunct her Sun (29' ap) - the first was exact a month earlier, the second was two weeks shy of exact, so this is almost precisely the midpoint or average point.

Next step: With three of the most Jupiterian events of her life occurring with transiting Jupiter at 13°09' Sag, 13°17' Vir, and 13°43' Sag, set a time of 6:08 AM EST and do final testing.

Testing the birth time of 6:08 AM by Solar Arcs of angles only (giving others honorable, parenthesized mention):
1996 Sep 7 - married
d Pluto = r MC +8'
(d Moon = r Mars -11')
2004 Jun 22 - Won nomination to state House seat (which guaranteed her the election)
2004 Nov 2 - Elected to South Carolina House of Representatives (unopposed)
2005 Jan 11 - began term in South Carolina House of Representatives
d Venus = d Neptune = r Asc (18', 20') for nomination
d IC = r Saturn 1' (nomination) - seems entirely wrong
(d Jupiter = r Sun -6' nomination) seems totally right
2009 May 14 - Announced run for governor
2010 Jun 22 - Won Republican nomination for governor
2010 Nov 2 - Elected South Carolina Governor
2011 Jan 12 - became South Carolina Governor
  • t Saturn = r Dsc -23' seems entirely wrong (-23' at announce, +44' at nomination, gone before election)
  • d MC = r Neptune -2' questionable; but gone by nomination
  • d MC sq r Venus -3' seems right; gone by nomination
  • (d Moon = r Sun) seems quite right (-50' at announce, +16' at nomination, +38 at election, +50' at inauguration)
2023 Feb 14 - Announced campaign for U.S. President
d Venus = d Neptune = r MC (-35', -37')
d Asc sq r Asc (-17')
(d Sun co r Moon +6')

This isn't optimistic for her, but it seems consistent with the move.

The chart needs a final test: Using a method not used to rectify it. I will repeat the events, therefore, with lunar (including demi-lunar) returns where location seems reasonably determinable. This will take time and I might not get back it immediately. In the meantime, I suggest a birth time of 6:08 AM on January 20, 1972 in Bamberg, NC. Here is the chart:

Trying SLRs and Demi-SLRs where location is likely known. (Currently lives in Kiawah Island, SC near Charleston.)
1996 Sep 7 - married (presume birthplace)
Poor but not unacceptable. Transiting Saturn (4°) and natal Venus (3°) rising, partile conjunct. Closer are transiting Sun and Mercury, and natal Moon. I'm not sure what the marriage meant to her. Saturn-Venus is definitely common for commitment decisions, though less usual for marriage as such. (+1)
2004 Jun 22 - Won nomination to state House seat (presume birthplace)
Transiting Jupiter precisely on Zenith! (This event guaranteed her victory in November: She ran unopposed.) Other planets and aspects consistent. (+2 at least)
2005 Jan 11 - began term in South Carolina House of Representatives (Columbia, SC
This could be many different things, but the fact that it's transiting Jupiter moderately foreground with natal Mercury and Mars closer - Jupiter transiting natal Mercury and Mars - sounds perfectly fine to me. - The Demi is quite similar but better! Transiting Jupiter 2° off IC partile square natal Sun and Mars, opposite natal Uranus (and a wider Saturn-Mars square). I totally accept this for stepping into that job first day. (+2)
2009 May 14 - Announced run for governor (presume Columbia)
I don't like this one. Demi has transiting Mercury and Neptune exact, Jupiter close (semi-OK) and natal Saturn closest plus Venus and Neptune. Mercury to Venus-Saturn the main aspect, plus a Jupiter-Saturn square. Seems all wrong. - The earlier lunar puts natal Mars-Uranus angular, and this was at least bold. (0 at best)
2009 Jun 22 - Won Republican nomination for governor (presume Columbia, but might have gone home)
Transiting Jupiter partile angular, among other things. (I've noticed her Venus-Saturn comes up for such events. It suggests she primarily relates to them as duty or sacrifice.) (+2)
2010 Nov 2 - Elected South Carolina Governor (presume Columbia)
Transiting Saturn-Pluto doesn't fit well, nor Saturn square her Jupiter. Natal Venus and Jupiter up. To make it confusing. (-2 or -1)
2011 Jan 12 - became South Carolina Governor (Columbia)
Demi is transiting Jupiter exactly angular (and natal Saturn next). (+2)
2013 Jul - Fined $3,500 by State Ethics Commission (Columbia)
Date unknown. June 28 SLR covered most of the month and was both Neptunes and (closest) natal Saturn (half a degree). Transiting Neptune to natal Venus and Neptune each 0°01'. This is remarkably descriptive! (If it was the second half of the month, the Demi added "bruised reputation" and "face the music.") (+3)
2015 Jun 22 - Reversed position, removed Confederate flag from statehouse grounds (Columbia)
Demi-SLR that day was transiting Uranus-Pluto - and this was a revolutionary change of position. Natal Mars exactly angular, add Sun, Mercury, and Uranus. The tone is all correct. (+2)
2017 Jan 22 - Confirmed by Senate (as UN Ambassador) 96-4 (presume Washington)
For Washington, the Demi had both Saturns as the only thing angular. For Columbia it's a little worse (two Neptunes closest, plus natal Saturn wider). This is about as wrong as it can be. (-3)
2017 Jan 27 - became U.S. Ambassador to U.N. (Manhattan)
Same charts, but for the new location she adds natal Jupiter and Moon to angles. Still a basically bad chart, but turning in the right direction.
2018 Oct 9 - Announced her resignation as U.N. ambassador (effective Dec 31) (Presume Manhattan)
The Demi two days earlier signals abrupt change. Transiting Sun and Pluto. Natal Mars-Uranus (and some Mercury). It's fitting, and different from the other charts in this series. (+2)
2023 Feb 14 - Announced campaign for U.S. President (presume Kiawah Island)
Transiting Uranus 0°20' from Ascendant! Transiting Pluto 0°15' from MC!! And they're in half-degree mundane square. Add an ecliptical Mercury-Pluto square, and - oh, get this! - the Uranus and Pluto transit natal Sun. (Wow!) Here are the main details, some mundane, some ecliptical:

24°40' H9 - t Mercury - 1°11' Cap
29°45' H9 - t Pluto - 3°51' Cap
-----------------------------------------
0°20' H1 - t Uranus - 20°00' Ari
1°04' 10H - r Sun - 5°09' Cap

Score: +3

OK, I'm sold. I think this is really, really the right time. (I never state speculative times with certainty, but I'm ready to do it.) Here is what I believe is Nikki Haley's correct nativity. "A Capricorn with an Aquarius style... dressed up like a Sagittarius."

Regardless of Nikki Haley's birthtime, next Tuesday Saturn is at 10°28' Aquarius when the New Hampshire polls close with her natal Venus-Neptune square at 10°-something Aquarius-Scorpio. This shows deflation of one's dreams, "the party is over," if not outright betrayal.

It's also nearly the exact day of Pluto conjunct natal Sun for the chart above. Even if that chart is wrong, Pluto is within a degree of her Sun. This aspect suggested this year as a major, life-transforming breakout for her, but it seems part of a different version of "leave that part of your life behind."

Tomorrow is her birthday. I assume she's in New Hampshire [LATER: she was], but I'm not sure. If she's in NH and the above chart is right, her SSR will have Saturn (on her Venus) in the exact degree of MC square Moon. The chart is mixed, but the bad guys win. For Concord:

7°48' Tau - t Moon
10°07' Aqu - t Saturn
10°10' Aqu - SSR MC
10°18' Sco - r Neptune
10°20' Aqu - r Venus

1°46' Sag - t Venus
2°12' Sag - r Jupiter
5°56' Gem - SSR Asc

Well since we don't have her birth time, I will not speculate at this point in time.

What I can see without the angles and the Moon is that on Feb 24th she will have t. Sun on her Venus which is good. The t. Node will be on her r. Mars, which seems like might be invoking anger within her towards the public. I don't know whether it's Saturn or Neptune that is closer to her r. Moon. But this does not indicate a win - at least not in the same manner shown in Trump's transits.

It would be good to have her angles and position of the Moon to look at her solar arcs, but without them it's a bit too vague. However, it is apparent that d. Jupiter is not touching any planet in her natal chart by dynamic aspect - it is now trine her r. Uranus. Her d. Sun- Saturn trine might be on or near her r. Moon now.

For whatever birthtime, there are two astrological things that stand out against Nikki Haley for being elected president this year.

First: A pattern that has existed since George Washington was succeeded by John Adams gives an almost 100% surgery that whoever succeeds Biden (whether this year or in four years) will have a luminary in either Taurus-Scorpio or Libra-Aries. Haley has neither.

Second: She has an Aquarius Moon. The United States (which has a natal Aquarius Moon) has never elected an Aquarius Moon president. There could always be a first but, so far, it has never happened.

One could look at a third factor: How does her chart compare to the U.S. natal chart besides the shared Aquarius Moon: Her impact is primarily disruptive and radical. The stand-out aspects are her Uranus in partile conjunction with U.S. Saturn (also on U.S. angles and square Sun) and her Sun conjunct U.S. Pluto (during the year of the Pluto return - which, actually, makes her sound like an important part of what is going on this year, regardless of the outcome). Her Mars is also at that critical twenty-second degree of Pisces, which has been so important in U.S. history, falling exactly on U.S. Descendant and square our Sun (and moderately opposite our Saturn). There is violence about this combination.

Finally, we can check her chart against that for the U.S. presidency which Ken Bowser favors. That chart also has Mars at 22° Pisces, so her Mars exactly conjoins it (and her Uranus is 2° from opposite it). Uranus also squares the presidency's Moon. These indications essentially replicate the aspects to the U.S. natal. But then, if she is born somewhere close to 6 AM as I think likely, the presidency's Saturn exactly conjoins her Moon: Somehow it would destroy her, I think.

These are not optimistic indicators for her succeeding Biden, but we do see indications of her being at the heart of what is happening this year.
