Your chart shows a tendency to struggle especially against social norms and others expectations - Sun square a Saturn-Pluto conjunction - though the rest of the chart shows a bright, personable, likeable fellow who perhaps has a very different sense of reality than most of the people around you.

Was there a significant life change about ten years ago? Something specific that happened and brought about these conditions? Or did them all start about the same time with no apparent connection.

I'll take some time and look at the conditions then and now.

As October 2015 began - starting with slow-acting longer trends - you were in the middle of solar arc Neptune to your Saturn (and, the year after, to your Sun). You also had directed Mars opposite your Ascendant. Despite the Neptune-Sun, I'd have expected the next year - late 2016 and continuing - to have been a much better year, with Sun-Jupiter and Jupiter-Moon directions, but late 2015 looks like conditions fostering insecurity, material trouble, dark moods, and perhaps violent events - generally tough times in both practical and emotional ways. (But I probably wouldn't have picked it as long-term because the next year was double-Jupiter. I guess I'd have been wrong.) - Though your secondary progressions bad Moon-Venus-Jupiter combinations (usually quite positive - very good times) there was a Mercury-Neptune progression that, again, suggests psychologically dark or disturbed times. (It's a mix.)

Transiting Neptune squared your Venus - usually some variation of "desire for an unobtainable love object." Saturn conjoined your Jupiter - not good for personal ambitions and things like status and money. One gets the idea that some event concentrated around this point involving the above themes.

You didn't say where you are living now (or where you lived then). If it was your birthplace, the your solar return had Pluto rising square Moon (dramatic changes in life conditions) opposite both natal and solar return Mars (involving various forms of conflict or hurt).

Currently, your solar arc directions have strong aspects but not the kind that are life-changing. Saturn is on your Venus (bad for love and happiness) and Venus on your Mars (raging passions and things like really, really needing a girlfriend). But solar arcs seem only to trigger life's biggest events when certain other "trigger contacts" mark a time as life-changing, and your directions don't have that. These are passing trends. (It does seem discouraging for serious love to develop for the next year.)

By transit, you have come through Pluto opposite your Sun over the last two years. This has likely been an ordeal since it activated your Saturn-Pluto just before. Primarily Pluto to Sun means a transformation - dismantling and reconceiving - your sense of self and life direction. It's like walking through a door and finding that your life as you previously knew it is behind you (on the other side of the door - and it was a one-way door). You are left with a reconceived sense of self, branching into a new future.

That's a neutral aspect - neither good nor bad of itself. The rest of your current aspects look reasonably good for generally making your way in the world successfully.
