7.4 earthquake near Taiwan
2024 Apr 2, 23:58:11 UT, 23N49'11'', 121E33'42''
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Taiwan_earthquake
The earthquake was offshore, so not usually the same impact as on land, but there are significant tsunami concerns for southern Japan (near Okinawa). We'll have to see how this shakes out (I really didn't intend that pun).
Magnitude 7.4. I see that a 6.5 followed (only a few miles away, both near Hualien City) 13 minutes later.
UPDATE 4/3/24: Ten people have died. Nearly a thousand (963) are injured, while 152 remain trapped. (A morning story mentioned 70 miners trapped underground.) We are now getting more information (and a Wikipedia link I've added above). Aftershocks have continued (and probably will continue more in the days ahead). The tagline for this quake is "Taiwan's worst in 25 years," which refers to the stronger 1999 Jiji earthquake (7.7). All tsunami warnings have been cancelled.
The quake occurred just after Uranus' rising. Here are the charts for the epicenter:
Year: Capsolar {+2}
Uranus on Dsc 1°57'
-- Sun-Uranus sq 1°13' PVP
-- Sun-Pluto co 2°12' PVP
Moon-Venus sq 0°08' M
Moon-Neptune co 1°39' M
Bridge {+2 at least}
t Pluto op Cansolar Dsc 0°29'
t Uranus op Capsolar Asc 0°34'
Month: Caplunar {+2}
Mercury on IC 1°05'
Sun and Neptune more widely foreground
-- Su/Ne on IC 0°31'
-- Mercury-Neptune co 3°42'
Week: Liblunar {+2}
Pluto on Z 0°33'
Moon and Merucry widely angular
-- Moon-Mercury op 0°02'
-- Pluto sq non-foreground Uranus 1°02' M, Jupiter 2°07' M
Day: Capsolar Quotidian & Transits {?/+2 = +2}
t Venus co p Moon 0°42'
p Asc co r Pluto 0°57'
p MC co t Jupiter 1°12'
----------------------------
t Uranus op s Asc 0°34'
Day: Cansolar Quotidian & Transits {+2}
p EP-a co t Sun 1°06'
--------------------------
t Pluto op s Dsc 0°29'
t Mercury sq s Moon 0°33'
t Mercury co s MC 1°45'
It was Uranus all the way with a lot of help from Pluto, so we may be looking at some falling buildings nearby. I also want to glance at the charts for Okinawa to see what the risk factors are for tsunami damage:
Capsolar dormant. Cansolar (Year) brings the Sun-Moon-Pluto configuration to angles. Libsolar (Quarter) has Saturn closely angular. -- Caplunar (Month) has Sun and Neptune (separately) on angles, with Neptune increasing the chance of flood. Liblunar and Canlunar are dormant. Arilunar ('acting' Week) is mostly neutral, with Sun and Mercury closely angular and a whisper of Neptune.
However, the daily charts are not active at all except or the long-term Bridge factor of transiting Pluto square Cansolar MC (1°04'). Nor do the quotidians stir trouble in the immediate future.

Iran attacks Israel
Today (4/13/2024), Iran launched drones (over 100) toward Israel. CNN reported on this by at 4:19 PM EDT, and the launch was likely soon before that.
The drones will take several hours to reach Israel. UPDATE:Over 300 drones were launched. Israel and her allies intercepted 99% of them. No injuries were reported.
Tomorrow's Arisolar has Mars-Saturn on Descendant in Tel Aviv (PVP square Pluto). This won't occur until after 4 PM. The drones surely will reach Israel long before that. Nonetheless, one expects accelerated war actions from Israel (not to mention local horrors) over the next day or two.
Tel Aviv's Capsolar already has Saturn 0°04' from Descendant. The new April 9 Arilunar is primarily luminaries and Mercury on Ascendant. CapQ Ascendant opposes ingress Uranus today (but not far from transiting Jupiter-Uranus, which it hits tomorrow).
Tehran's Capsolar is peaceful, with a Moon-Venus square closely angular (and a little Neptune). However, its April 3 Caplunar has Saturn exactly angular and Mars closely angular, the two in 3° mundane conjunction. The April 9 Arilunar has the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction rising. Mars is transiting square Tehran's Capsolar MC now and for the next three or four days. CapQ Asc is about to pass through Saturn about tomorrow, and then chase Mars a while.

Sydney knife attacks
I haven't closely tracked the knife attacks in Sydney, Australia this month. These are exceedingly rare in that country and, after I missed getting solid information on one of them, I figured that would be all; but now there has been a second one.
Surely something unusual shows for the city?
Starting with the Capsolar - the year chart - while the whole world has Moon-Venus-Neptune aspects in the Capsolar, Sydney adds Mars - and puts it foreground. The combination is guaranteed to set a region on edge:
Neptune on IC 0°15'
Moon on IC 1°53'
Mars on Asc 3°36
Mercury widely foreground
-- Moon-Mars sq 1°53' M
-- Moon-Neptune co 1°38' M
Moon-Venus sq 2°54'
Then, because they both occurred this month, we can check the April 3 Caplunar. Mars is the only really strong factor (but remember that Venus-Neptune aspects are the most common for murders and attempted murders). All three malefics are foreground:
Mars on Z 0°19'
Venus, Saturn, and Neptune more widely foreground
-- Venus-Neptune co 0°35' M
Moon-Mercury sq 0°48' M
Moon-Pluto co 3°59' M

Israel attacks Iran
OK, they did it anyway. (Sigh.)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Isra ... es_in_Iran
April 18, 2024, 5:23 AM LT IRST at multiple locations in Iran, Iraq, and Syria
Relevant locations: (1) Tel Aviv (2) near Isfahan, Iran
[I'll research this tomorrow]
UPDATE 4/20: This wasn't a very big attack, and Iran's reaction was even milder. I'm not going to bother to pin all this down.

Floods in Rio Grande do Sul
Prefacing this by saying that I have not been affected nor am likely to be at this juncture.
My state is undergoing devastating, if not apocalyptic, flooding due to persistent rain all throughout this past week—the greatest natural disaster of its history. Thus far, there have been confirmed over 50 deaths, 60 disappearances, and 30,000 displacements.
Downtown Porto Alegre is overtaken by water. It feels almost surreal.
The rain began last Saturday (April 27) afternoon, with the severity of the situation building up day by day and reaching the point of imminent disaster at around the start of the current Caplunar. A state of public calamity was declared on Thursday (May 2).

Re: Floods in Rio Grande do Sul
First, I'm glad your OK. - I hadn't seen anything of this in the news so thanks for mentioning it.
Using Porto Alegre as a center, the Capsolar is dormant and the Cansolar flows through as the de facto Year chart. It is intense, though (if one were not thinking of rain) one might not have expected it to be bad:
Pluto on EP-a 0°18'
Mercury on Dsc 2°16'
Moon on WP-a 2°01'
Jupiter on N 2°02'
-- Mercury-Jupiter sq 0°37'
-- Moon-Pluto 2°38'
Moon-Sun 0°23' M
The Arisolar (Quarter chart) is quite severe, with Mars 1° from MC and Sturn 2° further so that Mras conjoins Saturn on MC for the quarter.
The Caplunar - when this hit its peak - is violent and wet. With Ascendant 2°47' Pisces, it's pretty simple:
Neptune on Asc 0°54'
Mars on Asc 1°42'
-- Mars-Neptune co 0°48' M
It's actually more malefic than that. Here are planets in azimuth, where 90°00' is the azimuth of the prime vertical itself:
89°24' - Moon
91°26' - Saturn
92°20' - Mars
92°27' - Mars
Since things began before the Caplunar, here is some looking back: The Liblunar was dormant. The April 15 Canlunar (lasting two weeks) looks drastic though benefic - except it has the foremost aspect of floods, Jupiter-Uranus. (If not political, Jupiter-Pluto tends to mean things like unseasonable weather extremes and economic devastation).
Moon on Asc 1°06'
Pluto on Dsc 2°38'
Jupiter on MC 3°30'
Uranus on MC 4°41'
-- Mo/Pl on horizon 0°46'
-- Jupiter-Pluto 0°52' M
-- Jupiter-Uranus co 0°56'
-- Uranus-Pluto 2°03'
Moon-Sun sq 1°08'
