Violent & Deadly Accidents

I have a collection of 70 well-timed charts of people who experienced significant violence in their lives. Most of them died from violence. A few lived but suffered from a serious accident or attack. A few suicides are in the mix, but only high profile extreme (historically significant) suicides. This isn't as pure a group as I'd like (all having one narrow thing in common), but it's a start: It will certainly be useful for comparative testing of different predictive methods. As a preparation, I wanted to see if there were significant, distinctive commonalities of the natal charts alone.

There are indeed - especially the aspects. I'll break them all down as I have time.

First, a little better description of the kind of violence in the group. 23 (33%) were murdered. Sixteen (23%) died from suicide (mostly quite violent) and/or drug overdose. Eleven (16%) were celebrities who died in a plane crash or another vehicular explosion. Five (7%) were executed by violent means. Four (6%) died of sudden, shocking health matters. Three (4%) are astronauts who died (incinerated) in an instant flash fire. Two (3%) were shot (attempted murder) and were severely permanently disabled. Two (3%) suffered serious accidental injury requiring long convalescence. Four (6%) died suddenly due to some other type of accident.

Here is a tabulation of Class 1 aspects (all major aspects ecliptically and major hard aspects mundanely). The median is 10.5 and the mode 10, so we'll use 10-11 as the base line.

The first shocker probably jumped right out at you! I suspect that no astrology book ever written has cited Jupiter-Neptune aspects as reflecting vulnerability to violence. I have only a theory on this: Jupiter-Neptune people love to indulge themselves in believing that things are better than reason suggests they will be. They believe in dumb luck and that the gamble is worth it. Something arising from this

By the way, I'm not making this post to declare answers. I'm quite willing to leave questions floating. The important thing is that the data tells the story. We can come to understand the story over time.

Most of these high-scoring aspects make a lot of sense for people likely, on the whole, to experience more violence or more accidents in their lives. Mars-Uranus, Mars-Pluto, Mercury-Mars, Mercury-Pluto, and even Sun-Neptune are totally clear. Moon-Pluto is thought by many to show tendency to be victimized or assaulted, though I think the key characteristic is the need to have events in one's life overwhelm and powerful strike, to live in the edge of intensity: The universe provides those experiences if the person doesn't create them on their own.

When we look at the Moon-Pluto examples we get mostly people who were indeed impacted by sudden, out of the blue circumstances, in many cases gaining the posthumous label of a martyr or something similar.

The puzzles are Moon-Jupiter and Moon-Venus. I think this is because they are celebrities. Most of the Moon-Venus aspects are not close - they're at the edge of Class 1 - though a few are close. Consider Princess Di, JFK, Gandhi... people called "beloved."

Moon-Jupiter may be something similar, though I suspect there is a matter here of "needing to drag down those who are elevated so high." That's not the whole story, but it seems part of it. The celebrity element can't be ignored.

Angularity didn't have screaming-strong statistical indications, but the highs and lows are easy to understand. For people who had significant, unusual exposure to violence (including violent death), here are all the Class 1 and 2 angularities in their nativities:

20 - Mars
19 - Uranus
16 - Mercury, Pluto
14 - Moon
13 - Sun, Saturn
11 - Jupiter
8 - Venus
7 - Neptune

Mars and Uranus are most common. Neptune and the two benefics are the least common. The top four are especially interesting because these planets were generally the most involved (other than that Jupiter-Neptune thing) with the main aspects, meaning that those main aspects tended to be foreground.

[Mars spends most of its time in and near Leo, so the fact that it is a little below average is eye-catching. The rest of the distribution is pretty ordinary except for the gigantic peaks in Gemini and Libra (where we're used to seeing trouble anyway). I wouldn't over-value the low score in Sagittarius except that Sag has been quite low the other distributions above.]

I also catalogued signs on angles even though they historically have disappointed. My interest is especially about whether Descendant gives clues to means of death as one tiny set of data once suggested.
