A growing collection of posts on how to use TMSA in general and for specific purposes. (These are supplemental to the Help button on every page of the program.)

HOW TO restore the original Chart Options

Post by Jim Eshelman »

Time Matters is quite flexible with letting users modify their basic chart option definitions and even create entirely new chart option files for special purposes. However, sometimes you might want to get back to the version that came with the program, perhaps because the file has become damaged or because you want to return to the recommended definitions that first came with the program.

At present (as of version 0.6), the built-in chart options that will be used for natal horoscopes, returns, and ingresses (unless you intentionally pick a different set of options) are conveniently named:

Natal_Default.opt
Return_Default.opt
Ingress_Default.opt

You can customize these extensively. To get back to the original way the files shipped (undo all customizations on that file), just delete the options file and restart Time Matters.

Here are two ways to do that.

Method 1
  1. From the home page, click Chart Options.
  2. At the top, click the Load button.
  3. Find the file you want to delete. Right-click on it and pick Delete. (Confirm the delete action if requested.)
  4. Click Cancel to close the file window.
  5. Click Back to return to the home screen.
  6. Click Exit Program to close Time Matters.
  7. Relaunch Time Matters. You will have the original default Chart Options file.
Method 2
  1. Close Time Matters if it's open.
  2. In Windows File Explorer (open with Winkey+E or other means), navigate to your Documents folder. Within that, click on the TMSA folder and then the Options folder.
  3. Find the file you want to delete. Right-click on it and pick Delete. (Confirm the delete action if requested.)
  4. Close File Explorer.
  5. Relaunch Time Matters. You will have the original default Chart Options file.
