Romanov executions

On July 17, 1918, in Yekaterinburg, Russia, all seven members of the Romanov family - the imperial family of Russia - was brutally executed, along with several others who had chosen to remain with them in exile in their final months. The execution consisted of shooting them, then bayonetting them, then clubbing them to ensure they were dead. They were then burned, then buried in a field within a forest.

Czar Nicholas' death was immediately announced. The rest of the family's deaths were kept secret.

As for the time: Soon after midnight July 17, they were all ordered to dress, then moved to a new location. After that, small events happened, but apparently in quick order, that one might estimate were completed by 1:00 to 1:30 AM. The execution itself lasted about 20 minutes. Perhaps, as starting the process, 0:00 is the most usable time.
