My Horoscope

Post by mikestar13 »

I very recently discovered this excellent bulletin board and so I thought I'd share my birth data April 1, 1957 8:23 AM, Huntington Park CA USA.

I'm a "recovering Aries", though with Moon in Aries and Mars rising, maybe the recovery won't be 100%. I've been convinced the Sidereal Zodiac is the only correct one since I started reading Fagan in 1975. I had been an adherent of the tropical zodiac for only about a year--I had no exposure to astrology other than sun sign until 1974. I have never made a living as an astrologer (never tried), but consider myself a reasonably good amateur. I first learned sidereal delineation from the writings of this really obscure siderealist, was his name Eshman or something? ;)

I have had persistent interest in computer programming (which I have done professionally), astrology, and contract bridge (particularly bidding systems) which have a common thread of information encoding. As of now I am a member of bulletin boards in all three topics. I have also written a bit of software in all three areas. in case of computer programming, I have written programmer's tools and have made some small contributions to the development of open-source programming languages.

Comments and/or uproarious laughter welcome.

Thanks, Mie. And BTW, though we've conversed here, I haven't yet said welcome. So: Welcome! (And I see you're still living in my general "neighborhood," in Redlands.)

LOL, that must make it tough to get over being a Pisces <vbg>.

BTW, you were born two days before my brother, who has Moon at the end of the Aries run instead of the beginning

You certainly have a passionate horoscope, and I expect you to be passionate about everything you spill into (which, as a Pisces-Aries, could be quite a number of things). Those luminaries, rising Mars in Taurus (closely sextile your Venus and Sun),

If we give credit to the Vertex axis (or, more specifically, mundane proximity of planets to the prime vertical plane), this is pumped up further by Neptune 0°47' from Vertex in azimuth (not that you need an excuse to feel Neptunian) and Moon 2°47' from Antivertex in azimuth. That (if valid, as evidence seems to suggest) gives you a close, highlighted Moon-Neptune opposition.

You also have a foreground Saturn - Mars and Saturn have a thing or two in common, but the Saturn is at odds with most other things in your chart. (Best guess as a first impression is, besides supporting the kind of regularity and focus required for a programmer's thinking, it is most consistent with the military-flavor discipline of the Aries and other factors). Your close Moon-Mercury conjunction also figures into that, but I think you got the better deal having it with Mercury in the last half degree of Pisces: Having the same chart but with Moon conjunct Mercury in Aries would have put a more materialistic, less imaginative spin in your mind.

Those are the big "pop-outs" I see.

You arrive among us as transiting Uranus conjoins your Mercury, so it should be an engaging ride. You've just had a new Saturn Return, so there's likely been some life reassessment (oh, and that last round-number birthday) and perhaps looking for new directions, at least redeciding whether to stay on the same road you're presently driving.

In any case, welcome aboard.

Thank for the gracious welcome, Jim. Your short reading of my chart is spot on (my son often points out I've picked up too many British-isms).

The life reassessment connected with my second Saturn return is certainly going on. I suffered a stroke on April 26, 2009 (circa 3 p.m.) in South Gate CA which left me hemiplegiac (paralyzed on one side--the right side in my case). I have been confined to a wheelchair since then, and mostly to a hospital bed since March. Currently the bed in question is in my living room and I'm typing this on my laptop which is sitting in front of me on a hospital style tray table. Everything is very undecided right now with one exception: I have discovered in myself a fierce determination to live as fully as possible as long as I am still breathing--I will not go gentle into that good night.

I'm sorry to hear about the effects of the stroke, and happy to hear about your courage.

Fascinatingly, that was Saturn's closing square to natal Saturn, the last cycle before your Saturn return. Saturn squared natal Saturn 0°17'.

Jupiter was semi-square your Venus 43' - not sure what the import of that was. (It seems taking the cheap way out to say, "It could have been much worse," and only my perception of your sense of humor allows me to say, "So this was your introduction to a life of leisure?") Similarly, there was a strong Jupiter theme from a progressed Moon-Jupiter opposition, 0°16'.

But progressed Mars squared you natal Sun 0°18'. I'm assuming blood pressure had gotten high and there were related stress or exertion factors. Mars to Sun is appropriate for the event itself, but it makes more sense by describing those things that bring about the rupture. (Oh, and progressed Saturn had been in long-term trine to your Sun as well, and was exact to the minute of arc when this occurred - malefics double teaming the Sun with considerable precision.)

There was also a progressed sextile of Sun to natal Uranus, 35'. Sun as vascular-cardiac certainly seems the pivot planet. And, though trines and sextiles by transit are normally not worth noting, there is an interesting midpoint contact from this Sun-Uranus progression: Transiting Mars was sextile your Sun +19', and trine your Uranus -16', meaning that it was less than 2' from their midpoint.

Your then-new Sidereal Solar Return... well, gosh, it's hard for things to get clearer. Saturn rises, opposite a setting Mars < 3°. They square your natal Saturn on IC. (I should check this mundanely later, using tools we recently published here - it looks like Saturn-Saturn might be exact mundanely.) There is also Uranus nearby. Moon opposes Pluto (almost-partile ecliptically, 07' mundanely), both square Venus (mundanely it all fits within 13' total orb). - Transiting Mars conjoined your SSR Venus, and was 03' from square the SSR Pluto!

Your then-new Sidereal Lunar Return is less clear, but again starts with a solar focus, with Sun a degree and a half from Eastpoint. Mercury rises closely. Jupiter squares the Mercury (making it a "good" Mercury), but Jupiter itself is not angular. Your natal Uranus-Neptune square was angular and triggered by Sun's transit; but, while it isn't contrary to the event, and one can always say, "changes, disability, and altered state of consciousness," it's not exactly the aspect we'd expect to see, so I don't think the lunar is very helpful.

Using my experimental PSN technique, we get a repeat of the secondary progressed Moon-Jupiter, this time as a partile conjunction. (The original is strange, the duplication is strange.) But, more on target, progressed Sun opposed natal Saturn 42', and was in turn squared by transiting Saturn (25', again roughly at the midpoint). (The Saturn-to-Saturn was part of a progressed Sun-to-Saturn in the PSN, which is quite noteworthy.) There are other small things, but that's the main stuff.

So... sorry to hear about all of this.

PS - If you're looking for work, and have the time, interesting, and ability, Steve has been looking for a programmer willing to be hired to develop some special purpose software tools that we don't have. If this interests you, I'm sure he wouldn't mind you mentioning it here or by private message to him.

Hi mikestar, yes, pm me if you are interested in doing some special programming for Jim & I with certain Sidereal Astrology techniques. I have a-lot of ideas but it would take Jim's input to know if they were practical for certain special programming for Sidereal Astrology. I like your positive attitude mikestar, recently I ran into some depressing health issues and I know what a positive attitude can do for one's mental/physical health and future outlook. :)

Your assumption is once again spot-on.The underlying causes were high blood pressure and diabetes, the culmination of a lifelong struggle with obesity (as indicted by my Saturn, according to Garth Allen). I was was undergoing a great deal of person and marital stress due to economic difficulties (job loss and crushing debt) and the stress of caring for our severely autistic second born son (unfortunately now deceased). On the bright side, my wife and I are still married and reasonably happy in spite of circumstances, and my surviving first born son (17) is both very intelligent and in possession of a surprising amount of common sense--he's no crazier than any teenager, and not as crazy as the majority. I will post some more about my second born on the autism/Asperger's thread.

You will learn respect. And suffering will be your teacher. -- Fire Lord Ozai to the young prince Zuko, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Season 1, Episode 12 (Emphasis in the source). This sums up what the universe has said to me through Saturn my whole life. Nevertheless, I return the Love At The Heart Of The Universe to the full measure of my poor power.
