I was just reading a lot about how when SSR symbolism lines up with the SLR that events are more likely to occur, but I was wondering, even when SLRs don't line up SSRs can they still predict the likelyhood of important events on their own? I was also wondering, are SLRs confined to events that produce an emotional reaction on the native?

Absolutely!

I think that's too narrow of a way to view it. However, it's important to keep in mind that astrology doesn't let us predict events
per se, but, rather, the condition of someone's experience at a given point in time/space. We can, perhaps, use common sense plus knowledge of circumstances to identify what events are likely to produce that kind of experience for that particular person at that particular time - but it's the experience that's being shown. This is true whether it's by Lunar Returns, Solar Returns, transits, secondary progressions, or whatever.

Venus_Daily wrote:Thank You for answering my questions Jim, I've been calculating my future SLRs and Demi SLRs with Solar Fire lately, and a a few of them late in the year into March look really ominous.
I was wondering if you could confirm my suspicions and possibly take a look at my chart, or give me some advice on what might manifest, there's lots of VE/SAT/Plut symbolism on the angles in these upcoming charts. My birth info is Sep 4 1984 11:44 pm Kingsville Texas
The First SLR Chart(Dec 17 2009) has Virgo rising 4'16 accompanied by Natal Venus at 10'22 and transiting Saturn 9'08 Vi
The IC for this Chart is at 4'14 sag, which is conjunct my natal Neptune only seperated by a few minutes
Both Pluto and the Sun are on either side of the IC, the sun being at 1'35 sg, and Pluto being at 7'55 sg, so they're obviously in the foreground. Moon and Mercury are making a partile applying conjunction separated only by a few minutes(communication of feelings?)
Venus and Uranus are applying a square, 2'41 I am only mentioning this because you said here on this forum that hard aspects up to 5 degrees should be considered.
The Second Sidereal Lunar Return (Jan 14 2010) Natal Moon is rising the cadant side of the Ascendant by about 4'43
The Sun and Venus are making a Separating conjunction of about 38 minutes(in the foreground about 4-5 degrees away from the ascendant on the angular side. Saturn is stationary over Natal Venus and is making partile square with Pluto in the background. Usually, I would pay much attention to this since everyone is probably going to feel it, but since they're both aspecting my natal Venus it seems appropriate to watch out for this. Seems like Popularity, and relationships maybe taking center stage in relation to this chart?
The Third Chart (Jan 28 2010) Demi Sidereal Lunar Return has PI rising at 8'22 Saturn is on the descendant at 9'33 so, less than a degree away from the angle, with natal Venus Exactly 2 degrees away from the descendant. So both Saturn and Venus, as well are on the West Point. I was also wondering about that, Is a planet on the EP/WP at the same time as being on the ASC/DC even stronger than it would be if it were on either of those axis alone? Anyway, Pluto is on the MC 2 degrees away, along with natal Jupiter only 1 degree away. I read Ebertin's book and he mentions that the Venus/Saturn/Pluto combo is very dark....
Transiting Venus is also making an exact Square to Natal Saturn...Another bummer
The Fourth Chart (Feb 10 2010) Has only two things going for it transiting Venus is only 10 minutes away from the MC, and Natal Mercury is on the IC. The square between Pluto and Saturn over Natal Venus is now seperating and is in the background...
The Fifth Chart (Feb 24 2010) Demi Sidereal Lunar has the Asc at 9'25 VI once again, Obviously Natal Venus is rising partile to ascendant, and Natal Venus too is partile Applying to the EP by 2 minutes. Transiting Saturn as well is partile on the ascendant. Transiting Pluto is Partile on the IC, and 17 minutes away from making a square to my natal Venus. Mars is also making partile square to Pluto--More Stress!
The Final Lunar Return Chart for Mar 9 2010 is probably the tipping point,Once again Natal Venus rises less than 3 degrees away from both the EP and the Ascendant
it features a partile seperating opposition with transiting Venus and Transiting Saturn by 56 minutes. Transiting Saturn and Venus are partile on the Angles, Venus being 27 minutes away from the DSC(Applying), and Saturn being about 30 minutes away from the ASC (Seperating). As Well, both Saturn and Venus are on the EP/WP Axis Venus being partile 9 Minutes seperating from the WP, and Saturn 1'06 Seperating from the EP. Pluto is again on the IC about 3 degrees away, and is about 3 minutes away from squaring Natal Venus. Natal Jupiter is partile on the IC , and is receiving a close applying square from Venus by about 23 minutes. Is this an example of a transiting to natal paran in a lunar return chart?!
Transiting Mars is stationary and is making a partile square to Natal Pluto, more stress from the last demi-lunar return.
Transiting Mercury is also making an exact Sesquisquare Mars - Mental Stress?
I have not experienced Saturn/Venus Symbolism since my boyfriend and I broke up almost 2 years ago. I remember undergoing a Venus/Pluto conjunction by secondary progression as well, I hope I don't experience the same thing when Pluto hits Venus by square. Anyway, what do you believe might manifest during these very similar lunar returns, they all seem to be repeating the same symbolism be it with the angles, natal planets, or transiting planets. I would really like to know, so maybe I can prepare just a little. It's obvious too that some of these returns are bringing my natal Venus/Jupiter square into the foreground. Any Advice is much appreciated

Other words from Fagan’s book ‘Primer of Sidereal Astrology’ which ‘dove tails’ Jim’s above statement: ... “If the astrologer is sufficiently venturesome to prophesy the cause of planetary symbolism (s)he deserts astrology for mere speculation. Everything depends on the psychological makeup of the native..." I would also add--in order for the astrologer to 'sufficiently prophesy' accurately, (s)he would have to know details of the natives present environment.
