My SSR, Saturn-Moon
Post Posted Wed Feb 17, 2016 2:12 pm by Debbie
My SSR this year was a bit harsh with some positives. The main feature was an angular Moon opposed to Saturn at my home location. I relocated far away for my birthday to alleviate it some. Transiting Saturn would also oppose my natal Moon this year. Moon opposed Saturn also received a square from Venus and loosely, Jupiter. Uranus was square natal Sun/Mercury and Neptune was conjunct natal Jupiter. A very mixed bag!
I traveled often as home was depressing. My mother took a turn for the worse in Sept. and required more care than she could receive living with me. Her mind was going and she disliked the nurses I hired to help me. She requested to go to assisted living. I complied and she seemed happy there. It also allowed me to travel without as much worry but the expense was high, hitting my budget hard so limiting my travels also.
In January my mom fell and did not recover. She passed on January 23rd as Mars was conjunct her Sun. This coincided with Mars just past my natal DC. I remember Steve writing that this was a death degree. My natal moon was also 1 degree past my DC in my SSR so this received an opposition from transiting Saturn.
My SSR foretold of a separation. I thought my Mom moving to assisted living would cover it but it was a permanent one.
I am moving forward, dreaming of far away places (Neptune on Jupiter) and sudden changes have occurred (Uranus square Sun/Mercury). I am going to be a grandmother! It was surprising and sudden as my DIL had cancer a few years ago and it was uncertain if she could conceive. Tests conclude that it is a healthy baby boy due August 11, 2016.
A mixed bag for sure and a roller coaster of emotions but life goes on. I will trade taking care of my mom for helping with a grandchild, just as I traded taking care of my kids for taking care of my mom. My natal Mars/Neptune conjunction demands service and natal Sun/Mercury conjunction is smart enough to know not to fight it. Harsh Saturn contacts can bring rewards if you follow the rules of your chart.

For Debbie’s residence, Lake City, Florida, note her foreground SSR Moon partile 180 her foreground SSR Saturn partile 90 SSR Venus. Clear SSR symbolism for experiencing a depressing/inhibited situation with a love interest (SSR Venus), in this case her Mother. Also note SSR Moon partile 135 Pluto for the “stunning” loss of her Mother. SSR Neptune also foreground. For Deb’s residence, this SSR Moon-Venus-Saturn T-square was clearly the main signature for her solar year. Jim writes from his book ‘Interpreting Solar Returns:’
The Solar Return is the basis of the most powerful forecasting system presently known to astrological technology. At times, the Solar Return is capable of specifying events with great clarity and acuity.
Thanks again Debbie for sharing this event in your life.

A good example here where Jim’s SSR teachings state quarti’s SSR can at times indicate the quarter of one’s solar year when prominent symbolism from the SSR will manifest. Note Debbie’s DSSR Jan 9th 2016 9:17:27 EST, Lake City, Florida features a New Moon with a partile foreground Venus-Saturn cnj and a foreground Neptune. Jim says about Sun-Moon aspects in the Solar Return:
In general, Sun-Moon aspects in a Solar Return represent crisis, i.e., significant turning points…
Note the Venus-Saturn cnj in her DSSR repeats the Venus-Saturn symbolism in her SSR, and foreground Neptune in the DSSR repeats the foreground Neptune in the SSR.
IMO, the day is fast approaching where the serious astrologer will no longer be able to acquire Jim’s out of print (only used copies) Master work: Interpreting Solar Returns, so new interested members should endeavor to acquire this great book.

I didn't think to look at my DSSR symbolism, Steve. Good catch!
Jim's book is outstanding and a must have for anyone studying predictive astrology.
My mother's death not withstanding, in other areas of my life the fog of depression seems to be lifting. I wonder if once the significant event presents itself, the year gets better?

Debbie, I can relate to some of the astro symbolism you went through caring for an ailing dying mother, a loved one. I note you had a-lot of Neptune with your SSR’s. I too had a-lot of Neptune with t. Neptune passing over my Natal IC the last two years of my Mother’s ailing dying life. These two years of t. Neptune prominent created the most confusing/worrying time period in my entire life. I was faced with some of the toughest decisions in my entire life with choosing the correct things in caring for my Mother. The stress of caring for my mother created a situation where I went through Post Dramatic Syndromes after my mother passed which definitely affected my health, but understand this does not mean the same thing will happen to you. After my mother passed, I went through some tough Saturn Cycles which was the main astro timing reason my health became afflicted. Caring for an ailing dying loved one is definitely a very hard and difficult time in life. There is absolutely nothing that can actually prepare one for these type situations. My mother did not want to live the last 2 years of her life and on several moments asked me to help her commit suicide, which our culture as a whole does not permit assisted suicide with one’s choice in an aging dying situation. The main problem as I see it—people’s life span has increased causing in many cases poorer quality of life/living. If any member on this forum is ever presented with caring for a loved one as an only surviving member of the immediate family, feel free to draw on my experience for possible help.

That is a tough one Steve.
Seeing someone close to you suffer when they are near death is difficult and being asked to aid them to die must be hard. When I saw the state of my mother in her last days fighting cancer, I would have understood her so well if she had asked to die long before that state. I believe in free choice, it is your life and I believe it is really up to you to choose if you want to live it or not.

My mother made me promise to her I would not put her in any type assisted living home—her wish was to die in her beloved home. When she got to the point where she could not care for herself, I had to spend a-lot of time with her in her home. Neither she nor I had the combined income to pay for 24-7 sitters to watch over her in the last 2 years of her life. Also my mother was in a-lot of pain the last year of her life which had to be controlled with strong pain medication. But all of the above I managed ok—it was watching her lose her mind (dementia) that took its toll on my mind/body. We could no longer have a conversation. Before she lost her mind she wanted me to figure out a way I could assist with her suicide. I told her the only way I could legally do this is for her to move to another far away State. It was when she could no longer walk or drive her car she wanted to opt for suicide. She was always very socially active—she lost her quality of life. If I had to experience what my Mother did, I would also want to commit suicide but our Country’s laws will not allow the Doctors to assist in dying issues, which is not right. Arena, does your Country allow a person to choose and end their own life with assistance from the professional Doctors? IMO, the sophisticate pharmaceutical drugs and modern surgeries are extending people's life span, but in some cases this is a huge disadvantage for quality living.

No, it is the same here as most places, that doctors are not allowed to aid with suicide.
But at the end of people's life, doctors are indeed allowed to make the patient and/or family decide to stop medication, which in many cases will speed up the process to die.

Steve, I knew that you had a rough time but I had no idea how hard it was for you. My mom lived with us for 10 years. I think one of the nicest things my mother did for me was requesting to go to assisted living. I believe she knew what a toll her care was taking on me (I am an only child, no one else to help). Or maybe she was just tired of my cooking. She woke every morning saying "why am I still here?" I too think that people should have the right to go when they choose if they are elderly and in pain.
I have strong belief in the afterlife and she sent me a signal at her memorial service. I am happy that she is at peace now and I will see her again someday.
